@@colt4505 Yeah mate, I just wanted an AC game with increasing difficulty based on intelligent algorythms and not just huge life bars but the same A.I. Incredible how modders (like those from skyrim) make a better work about this difficult stuff than the original developers with tons of money! I hope AC Vahalla is improved in this aspect , such a pitty this video doesnt show this doubt of mine.

Bc if AC is worse in gameplay mechanics, then it is worse in every single aspect bc the stories are usually bad and/or bad made with shallow characters and bad performances in cut-scenes. The best aprt of an AC games nowadys is the combat and huge varietry of weapons and strikes, but in what it has of best it fails, then the game in a whole is a failure, got it?
i really wish this had the old combat system. it was so nice and flowed wonderfully, the system they started to us in odyssey really made me feel disconnected from the game as it just seemed to become another regular rpg combat system, and that's what i loved about the AC series was the combat and style was something you couldn't get anywhere else
It was becoming too easy and I’m NGL when it comes games in ac Vahalla is in my top 3 Ac 2 and AC brotherhood or Revelations are in my 2 vahalla goes in depth in Norse mythology which I like in the story
@@2bizzystu868 ac2, ac3, black flag, mainly because of the mechanics. Felt smooth and didn't have to use 100% of your brain trying to fight 3 or more people
I love this Game I just want it more Polished!
In short, get high "Stun" stat, use heavy attacks for damage, light attacks for stamina regen, hit weak-points with the bow, and get Stomp but be careful cause it doesn't have i-Frames

Always use slow mo when enemy attacks you skill perk .upgrade your weapons with iron and leather at all times. My short tips.
Awesome video and I agree with you about the lunge attack. When I first tried it I wasn’t sure if I really did a lunge attack or if I had killed them because of landing on them haha. So I hope they smooth it out or even add some sort of ability to do the attack from really high places.
Good video. I like knocking down the enemy with the hammer Special attack and continue it until stamina bar depletes then FINISH HIM with stomp. Never gets old lol

I just started the game why do they change the entire System every new Game? I was fixed on the Odyssey and Origins system.
Because it gets boring
I use short swords and a shield, haven't had any issues on Very Hard difficulty, if you can get a short sword at its maximum swing speed, it becomes one of the best set ups in the game, especially if you're good at parrying and knowing when to block.
I use daggers and sure does beats the pikemans with their block, attack, rinse and repeat.
It's really fast.
No point using a shield when you can parry consistently, I found the perfect setup to be a sword in main hand and a dagger in the secondary hand for the perma-stun attack
Stun attacks also restore health that's got me out of some sticky situations.
Yup, should have mentioned that.
I've been able to kill whole troops of cunts with just parrying and using stun attacks whenever my health drops.

indeed man, it just works! (not you fallout 76) put some poison on those get the miasma and brush with the death skills from raven tree and melt anithing even way higher than your power
Playing Odyssey on nightmare it's fun as hell but don't fight more than 6 enemies it's confusing but man the combat is satisfying when you know how to play parry and combo with abilities...can't wait for Valhalla
Valhalla is boring...especially in nightmare...if you are surrounded by enemies you don't even have to hide...boring

The long sword you get in Ireland is the best I think especially with extra speed runes & set on fire with crit hits rune or extra speed up to 10 hits can really nerf the long sword in the mid game to really powerful weapon. So many option to nerf it is great & only weapon that is so powerful is the sythe with its great special ability

I'm 36 hours into my first ever playthrough, on Normal difficulty. Mostly using light attacks. It's a bit easy if I'm honest so will try on the hardest and use heavy attacks.
So far, hammer and shield is my favorite style. I've only fought two Drengr so far and for both I had to respec to Hammer to win. I beat the one in Norway before leaving to England after finding the warhammer. Before that he just kept rolling me.
I'm not great at action rpgs though.

Shield and spear is also highly affective.
It's a huge torture going into this game from Ghost Of Tsushima. The gameplay especially combat is horrendous. I'm left with no choice but to uninstall and replay Ghost Of Tsushima on new game+

I think you've missed dual welding heavy weapons and dual shields. Quite interesting combat system. Also archer combat is very big and diverse as well.

Same but I had to lower the difficulty to the second easiest one (I started the game at 3rd difficulty level) and still can’t beat him. At least it’s training me. And I’m learning the combat.
@@dawrius3513 i realized that when you know the moves of the bosses in this game you will have less difficulty.
For a few advices:
Try to hit the weak points with the bow the make big damages.
Do everything not to run out of stamina.
When he is close to you and he wears only the hammer or only the axe, prepare to dodge because it’s an un-parryable attack.

Very hard, or "damage sponges". Coming to Valhalla after Ghost of Tsushima, I immediately changed Eivor's damage output and enemy health in the menu
After playing sekiro for a few weeks before this game came out, the combat in this game feels way too easy and unsatisfying. You can walk up to 75 percent of enemies and just slash them to death and they won’t try to block or dodge you.
Marc W yes if you play on arcade level, if you increase difficulty the combat becomes more challenging
I didnt do well with Sekiro. I did eventually beat Tsushima on lethal though. :D
AC: V is fun, but the combat is weird after GoT...
Oh man, the only thing I regretted since played Sekiro is all the following games I played after looks so dull, no match for Sekiro combat mechanics. Oh well, GoT came close, the rest of the games need to step up their combat mechanic, Sekiro is soooooooo satisfying
I wouldn’t say easy, the combat just plain sucks
Freddie Mercury combat physics are really really good, heavy, punchy and with full audio. What suck is “combat state NPC”, their state of alertness, responsiveness and their general decision making in the battle - very very basic..... what’s worse is enemy makes so little sound it while in battle, it feels as if they are on a suicide mission rather than defending the honor of their land. If they had AI from origins Valhalla would have been a nearly perfect game.
MY TIP: From my expirience I can fight a whole camp without having to heal once. (sometimes i don't even get hurt) Light attacks are better than heavy exactly because you enemy hits back. when you get brush with death abillity you can attack knowing that they're gonna hit back and evade. What i'm trying to say is when you hit around 3 light hits on any oponent they're gonna hit back. if you know this you can simply evade and then hit back.
And if you're surounded use abilities or evade away a little. Spread them out don't fight them all at once. if you wanna fight them all at once there are abillities for that...
(5:03 oh silly, it's preserved so you can evade: evade is infinitely better than parry and once you get brush.. abillity you really don't have any reason to parry as parry also uses up stamina)
Quick edit: i suggest getting that one abilty to return a spear sent your way. it works with alot of other things such as arrows, stones, axes and even those mines some bosses throw. It's a perfect way to deal with archers as it one shots them. making it so you don't have to deliberetly go after them first.
I've just started playing this I'm now in England what's the first 3 skills I should work towards? I now know brush of death is 1 of them so haha, I'm not sure what direction to go in...

@@karlwest437 If you go looting some of the yellow markers on the map will give you 150+ ore. You don't have to collect them from nodes only. Also when you get more money you can buy them from the vendor each day.

How do you do plunging attack? Just press an attack button while jumping?
I'm playing on fucking medium and I'm still having trouble fighting multiple enemies at the same time like half the time my character won't parry when I do it and I just get killed it's really irritating like do I have to use a shield?
I just make them run towards a river and call my boat in and fire arrows at them I've beaten level 220 orders as a 67

Do video Special attack off hand
There another attack The you didn’t mention in the video, FH player will prolly be familiar with this, it’s a dodge light. If you press X (I play on Xbox) then light after the dodge (this may not be a move for all weapons) it will dodge then do an attack that actually acts like a heavy. You can also buffer it and delay it slightly, but I found no use for it. If you dodge in no direction (keeping left stick still and dodging) then press light, it will dodge backward then shoot forward and hit the opponent. You can also recovery cancel into this from light or heavy and soft feint into it for light or heavy.
That multi-hit thrust made the hitstop effect very obvious. Thanks for showing that. The combat system seems to have some good stuff in it. But can't stand this animation style.
My friend counted 16 frames on the hitstops. Jesus!
My friend also noticed the hitstop affects you, but not enemy. That's also why it looks extra bad.

80 hours in and I'm playing on the hardest settings. Some of the enemies are very tough. I've died countless times trying to beat these bosses. It's strange, the AI is bad on some of some of the lesser enemies and fantastic on others. You need cat-like reflexes and great hand-eye coordination to beat some of them. Guaranteed that a lot of people out there are lowering the difficulty settings to get past some bosses, but I don't cheat. I'll die a thousand deaths until I get it right once. I fought that hell hound last night. Oh, my god, was that hard. When I finally beat him I left through the woods and got jumped by four bandits. I wiped them out in about two seconds due to all the practice I've had fighting bosses. I also refuse to use any of the overpowered abilities to make it even harder. And I will only use a dagger in one hand for a weapon. I have discovered almost all of the ranged and melee abilities but I will only use two of them. The Poison Strike ability and the Rage of Helheim ability. The Poison Strike is weak against bosses. And Rage of Helheim is no big deal because it's difficult to pull off against some enemies and it depletes your stamina to zero, upon which you are in trouble.

The daggers are pretty stupid easy and strong

Im not a gamer... ac2, brotherhood and revelations were my thing. Ac3 and Black Flag were ok. Im a metal gear guy too and of course GTA. Thats it. I wasted 20 minutes of my life getting killed after I freed the prisoners and got my armor back. I still have to master the combat but at this point I kind of understand why this game is being given away for free. I rather try odyssey or origins again

STUN stat. Seeing this high on the hammers lead me to think this meant chance of stunning or dmg to their stamina. I'm still early in the game but this is my thinking. Correct me if I'm wrong.

After complaining to myself that hard was too easy for a few days, I've decided to put the difficulty to very hard and its still too damn easy. Compared to origins and odyssey, this game holds your hand too much.
The only tough opponents are the order and legendary animals.
I agree pass titles were much more difficult. The enemies don’t attack frequently enough which makes combat boring. You’d think they would’ve took a few notes from God of War. Just too easy sadly.

But HOW do you do a combo! I see no combo list in Valhalla. But in games like Mortal Kombat there is a combo list. So how do I know what keys to press to perform a combo in Valhalla?

I’ll make this easy for you, not like these other douche’s and their comments.
There is not really a “combo list” per se’.
Combos are performed by mixing up the attack types.
Generally in sets of three...
For example....light attack, light attack, heavy attack will perform a heavy finisher.
You can also Hvy attack, Hvy attack then follow up with a Lt attack.
There are more, but I’m still learning them too so you have to experiment.
On a side note... you don’t need to be fighting an enemy to practice combos, you can practice them to get the timings down just by swinging at empty air.
I find the inputs are way too slow. Block, dodge and even strike don’t register if you leave it to split second reaction - you instead have to learn and pre-empt the moves … guess work at first then once learnt it’s incredibly boring.

Ubisoft has completely ruined Assassin's creed sword play from AC Origins onwards such a shame. My fav AC still remains revelations and AC 4

I just hate how unless its a finisher animation the attacks have no weight or feel especially with two handed weapons. They just seem to pass through the enemy without resistance its distracting and immersion killing for me. I wish they had incorporated some of their for honor combat mechanics into this instead of this janky dodge around hack and slash garbage

Fighting and upgrading is so much easier and better than assasins creed odyssey, i like this game a lot more

Jump attack. When you jump from a higher elevation in combat, press the attack button before you land

This is a good video, but it only made me hate this combat system even more. I’m pretty upset I just bought the deluxe addition after all these reviews I watched and all my friends telling me to get it. I LOVE Viking history and stories. All for nothing.

I think it's actually really cool they finally added proper shields in the game. Origins had them, but they didn't feel really good to use in that game, imo.

I know this is a bit late but load a save before you're fighting an enemy otherwise you can't
First hour in... and not feeling the combat. Feels very floaty, big fat vicking bloke with 0 weight. But I do like the killing animations.
