Every member of EPRP was commited to take own responsibility for whatever consequence was inflicted as the result of our involvement in the struggle. Because it was a revolution and we understood that revolution claims life. We never hold our party or any of our commrades responsible separately. Col. Mengistu was the head of state who intentionally detered the success of the revolution and take responsibility for failure of the country to the present level. Had he not unilaterally followed his own decision and accepted the establishment of popular government Ethiopia would have not been failed at all.
The state as a state was worked to make the revolution failed. So that the Government of C/l Mengistu was antirevolution and he made it happened. That was story.
Its your prerogative not to hold the party leaders responsible, but it was a colossal and a costly error to declare an urban warfare with the government that's armed with automatic weapons and didn't mind to use it. Someone should be held.responsible so this wouldn't be repeated.

2..ያነሳችሁት የመሬት ላራሹ ጥያቄ በፊውዳል ስርዓት ውስጥ የኢኮኖሚ ና የፖለቲካ ተሳትፎ በሓይል ተገፎቶና ተጨፍልቆ ይኖር የነበረው አርሶ አደር የኢኮኖሚ ና ኢኮኖሚውን ይዞ የፖለቲካ መብቶችን እንዲቆጣጠር ለማገዘዝ ያደረጋችሁት ለግፉአን የመቆም ፅናታችሁን፤
3.የራስን ውድ ህይወት ሰውቶ ለሌላው የመቆም የትውልድ ቁርጠኝነት፡፡
የማንበብ ባህል ለእውቀት የነበራችሁ በጉጉት ኢትዮጵያን ለመቀየር እራሳችን እስከ መስዋዕት ያቀረባችሁ የጀግና ጀግኖችን ታሪክ የፃፉ ሰው በመሆንዎ ረዥም ጤናና እድሜ እመኝሎታለሁ፡፡
EPRP should make itself history in the same way Derg became history. Both groups have been a cause for unnecessary national pain and bloodshed. We don't need any of the 1970s groups and their intolerant ideologies. I lost may close relatives who were promising young men because of EPRP's misguided political approach.

It was the EPRP who first deployed killing squads in urban centers and killed in hundreds those affiliated to the DERG and serve in government structure at various levels. EPRP was the saddest chapter in Ethiopian politics. LIJ YABOKAW LERAT AYBEQAM. Thousands of brave young people were sacrificed for nothing. There are stories of young people that committed suicide or died while being tortured for that party with their iron discipline intact. I've given up hope on getting the TRUE story from any politicians of that era including EPRP. But what makes me mad today is the fact they fought each other to death (literally) only to hand the country over to ethno-fascist TPLF on a silver platter.

A few points:
1. Meison and eprp killed each other because there was no democracy in Ethiopia. There was no reason to kill Getachew Maru had there been democracy in Ethiopia. In a democracy Meison and Berhane Meskel would work with the Derg, and the eprp would be a legal opposition. Ethiopia still has no democracy. The last election excluded parties from Oromia, Tigray, and Somali regions.
2. Peasants in Arsi and Gojjam were not equally oppressed. Kiflu knows, but he chooses to lie in old age. The peasants of Arsi were slaves and later gebbars. The Gojjam peasants were not gebbars they had their rist. The Oromo and other southern peasants were doubly oppressed. That was the basis for national liberation movements. They didn't come out of the blue.
3. The eprp correctly supported self-determination for nations and supported the right to freely organize for all. Now Kiflu and friends have reneged on that. They don't support self determination, and they want to criminalize nationalist organizations. That means only Amhara and wannabe Amhara groups will be allowed to organize in the name Ethiopia. That type of attitude borders on fascism. Those who are disallowed to organize will not disappear. They will just go clandestine as they did throughout Ethiopian history. It's stupid and fascistic to argue against the freedom to organize peacefully. It's a recipe for endless war and instability.
4. It's sad so many members of eprp sacrificed their lives for all Ethiopians, but whatever remains of their organization has degenerated into a neftegna party/factions.
5. Kiflu talks about fiqir or love and imposing whatever he means by fiqir on all. That is stupid and impossible. Politics is not about love. Its about interests, history, ideology, and compromises. What does love got to do with it? Had you have love for peasants of Arsi, you wouldn't have lied and said their conditions were similar to that of Gojjam. You said so because you have an interest in building a homogenized Ethiopia.
Good points. I strongly disagree with you about the current issue however. If parties want to exclude themselves because they thought there is no way they can win or other reasons; they should not be begged to participate. It’s on them to struggle. But the current government is legitimately elected.
