While unfortunate that the studio executives refused to give them the time to prep that they needed, you gotta give Peter Jackson and the entire team at WETA for giving it 100% despite the hectic schedule. It’s also refreshing how frank everyone is on these behind the scenes. They admit it was hard and having so little prep-time made the production very hectic but the passion shines through and they powered through it as a group and got it done. And despite the chaos, they’re still proud of the movies. You don’t see that kind of teamwork often on a big-budget film. Props to Peter Jackson and the team for sticking with the films all the way despite everything. Wish they could have had that extra time for pre-production.
I'm sympathizing with Peter a lot more now. It's a horrible situation for anyone to be in. The Studio Executives who did not give adequate time for better results wasted so much potential and have a lot to answer for. Thank you so much for posting these.
peter didn't have to do the film. he's also to blame. additionally remember how he treated his actors and the new Zealand film industry. he's not innocent by any means
I think the biggest reason they went with a trilogy was after Del Toro left and they continued production until they couldn’t anymore, with studio pressure(and perhaps idea for a trilogy) to finish on time, it was a way for them to delay the filming of the battle and the end of the film until he was ready to prep. Which then inevitably didn’t end up happening.
Producers should have gave peter the prep time. He deserved that much respect for making the lotr trilogy so successful. I heard they threatened him that they will choose their own writer and director... smh
I'm sorry, but have you even watched the behind the scenes documentary up to this point? Peter Jackson had to step up because no one else would do it, when production was already in full swing. Wanna blame someone, blame the executives.

The movie is SO much about costumes, they are literally perfect!

We know it is the studios fault, forcing a freight train of 3 movies, zero prep... and it sadly shows... however... still better than Rings of Power!!
its his own fault.should have just made one movie.its fun to see how greed punishes a person

he wanted it to be one film dumbass... he was forced to due 3. its people like you that make the fandom bad
Jackson didn't make the decision to make three movies, the studio did. Besides, one movie would not have been enough. Two movies would be better!
It's funny how some people have a profound lack of comprehension and then talk like they know things..
