The smell of Aberdeen in 1964 had to be experienced first hand... it was pretty ripe! So many refugees living in HK then. I remember going to the Floating Restaurants once with my parents.
"The smell of Aberdeen in 1964 had to be experienced first hand"..I agree pinkysgirl, the old Singapore River (now sanitised) also had an unforgettable smell in the mid 1950s.
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING TO US THE VIDEOS OF OLD HK, I am a HKer of a young generation, do u know jUMBO Was murdered by HK government and hk people and Ho Stanley's son, we feel very sad abt THE LOSS OF JUMBO, hope that she shall be salvaged by the CHINA GOVERNMENT, PLS bring more videos to us abt our beloved elder sister JUMBO
I think the then floating restaurant was called Tai Bak Seafood restaurant and later in the 1970's the name was changed to Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. William Holden and Jennifer Jones were having a great time there in Love is a Many Splandored Thing !
I was born in Hong Kong and remember when the harbor was full of sampans and junks. I'm so glad I knew it when it was a British colony--despite its problems it was a relatively democratic place. I last visited in 2013 and won't return

我由細到大都是香港仔人,見到都不敢相信自己住的地方同現在很不同。還有不明白當時這攝影機是彩色還可以清色,就算是拍電影的機也沒有這麼清
I think some fragments took in Tai Po in New Territories ,Hong Kong.
