@kegs95 Yeah I know about this one with the wrist. I've tried a lot of different ways to play on the hi-hat. I learned it like in this video but you get tired very fast. The easiest way is like you say with the stick and not the end and use the fingers a lot more. You can go much faster that way without getting tired. What I also like about this method is that every hi-hat hit sounds the same, not like the way Richie used to hit it, if you know what I mean.
what is it your doing on the high hat? I am only a beginner so forgive me if its something really simple, but it looks super fast and sounds different. This is a song i have to work on and want to nail it perfect.
cheers will try or just stick to 4. 4s sound ok but like I said want to get it great. been offered our first gig in just 3 weeks. I am scared any tips?
Hi Adje! first of all, thanks for posting these videos - they are really motivating! May I ask two questions - do you hit the rim of the snare in this one or it just looks like that? and do you have any special technique for fast hi-hats? here it can't see push-pull or moeller etc (but I'm a total beginner). Best
xdz80 I do hit the rim of the snare all the time. And I don't have any special technique for the hi-hat. Just stamina built up over the years. Thanks for your nice words!
Everytime i watch your videos....I swear..you're a long lost Ramone
:-)
You're by far the best Ramones drummer on UA-cam. My young nephew is learning the drums; I think I'll buy him a Ramones drum book for Xmas!
10 years later I am now watching, awesome music!! Awesome cover!!
Thanks!

Just a straight forward rock and roll beat. Just like Tommy and Marky do on the hi-hat :-)

How did you mic the kit? Is it just that one mic infront? What type of mic is it?
+rocketscrub Yeah just one mic in front. Then I add a little compression and eq.
try slowing down and play a bb king song
Don't drink before the gig LOL.
And just practise , not much else.
I've done some songs. Like Do You Wanna Dance. And Carbona Not Glue. Check my channel for them. I was dead after that :-)
