Everyone in the 90s, in America, was actually taught how to use a yo-yo in gym class. Frisbees too. Lol we had people who would come to our school to sell them, and we would spend the whole learning yo-yo maintenance and tricks.
My little brother (12) was taught to as well in gym class. Guess some schools still do it.
It all depends on the surface you are using to walk the yoyo. On a hard surface many yoyos will bounce. I am not quite sure what you mean when you say "fall down to its side" though.
@ithepress123 The whip is a good yoyo, but if you are still kind of a beginner it will not work well for you. This yoyo is good if you already know a few strings tricks and know how to bind. If you have not mastered these tricks this will be an extremely frustrating yoyo, because it will not wind up without a bind.

When I do walk the dog my yoyo goes in a curve, making it really difficult for it to return because (as you said in another video) the yoyo needs to be straight in order for it to return

Usually this means that you are getting your hand to close to the yoyo. The easiest way to stop this from happening is to swing the yoyo forward before you set it on the ground.

@ithepress123 Actually, if you want to learn tricks, it would be better to get a yoyo with a ball bearing. On the YoTricks website I would recommend the Luminator ball bearing yoyo, but there are plenty of great ball bearing yoyos out there. The butterfly only has a metal shaft for an axle so it does not sleep very long or play very well in comparison. If you are serious about learning tricks a ball bearing yoyo is a must.

Yotricks would you consider the yomega maverick a good yoyo? I am an intermediate yoyoer and I've been researching the yomega Dash and Maverick and I bought the Maverick. The reviews on it seemed good and it will arrive on Friday but some people from yoyonation are starting to say that it is not very good
@TheUsertelevision Clutch yoyos are nice for beginners (like the Yomega Brain) because they are easy to wind and will help you develop a good throw. The Fast 201 is also a good beginner yoyo. However, if you can already throw the yoyo and get it back to your hand without too much trouble then I would recommend the Luminator yoyo which you can get at YoTricks.

You can do this win an unresponsive yoyo, but it will not come back, as you suspected. You will need to do a bind to get it back.

Hello and happy holidays to you. I didnt think this walking the dog yoyotrick, I thought it is the hardest part because of pending how you aim it to without braking it. Ive did learned years ago and I did nothad good luck, it was a plastic toy version so of course it broke, so and the way I know about this walk the dog trick is from the famous movie TMNT 2 tjhe secret of the ooze, the opening mall scene when Mikey did that truck front of those bad guys, remembered the scene or the film? thats how I got that image or scene from, thanks

It probably sleeps about twice as long. With a good throw the Dominator can sleep up to 20 seconds, the Luminator can sleep about 45 seconds.
also in having trouble doing the Eli hops because I don't know how to make it land back in to the string

When my yo yo hits the ground it slows down all its momentum and by the time i try to flick it back up its not working 😢

Personally, I do not pay much attention to what is said on forums. The Maverick is a good yoyo for an intermediate player.

The butterfly, but neither are great for sleeping. If you are very interested in learning tricks, we would recommend getting a ball bearing yoyo like the Sage. Ball bearing yoyos can sleep 3-10 times longer than a yoyo like the butterfly.

I had that problem, because my yoyo was screwed together too tight. Just check, wether the string is stuck at the end
what if we do the walk the dog, but the yoyo can't keep straight once it 'walks' and tense to turn to left or right?
That happens if one half of the yoyo is touching the ground, but the other half is not.

It can be difficult to get those to sleep some times but if you can do that you should be able to learn walk the dog :D

by the way if anyone wants to get this yoyo it is a lot cheaper on Amazon then it is on yoplay or most other sites. I got it for only $20 and on yoplay it is about $30

It's a dollar store yoyo, but it has some sort of spring mechanism in one of the discs. It's surprisingly a well built yoyo and most tricks work, but I can't get the yoyo to walk the dog anymore.

Sounds cool. To get this trick to work you need a yoyo that can sleep for a long time, at least 8-10 seconds. If you can achieve that with your diy designs that would be awesome. If not, but you still want to learn trick, I suggest you get a ball bearing yoyo. Here is one we use in most of our tutorials:

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried the bottle cap version but the yoyo didn't work at all - I'm pretty sure that the string was the problem in both. My mum is going to allow me to buy a yoyo soon and hopefully i might get a ball bearing one. Thank you so much again for that and your tips as well :) All the best and I'll hopefully update this when I get one.
