The first time I heard this version - Obama wasn't even president yet. It was the dead of winter and I was thinking hard about suicide. I was in one of the worst places I could be within the depths of drug addiction. I found so much amazing beauty in this song it helped me through that dark winter. It is now my life mission to one day be able to play this and share it with others who have not had the privilege of hearing such a brilliant version of this song. ❤
10+ years and I come back to hear this song from him!!!!!
Thank you Mr. Parker for 14 years of always giving me smile, when Listen to this Masterpiece.
I was in the Los Angeles area March 2009. I went to the Angelus Temple (a LONG story)....and listen to a guy singing 'Hey Ya'' exactly like this! Blew me away! Thank you, Mat Weddle!
Damn i owe Andre 3000 sum more credit i havent truly listen to the lyrics before now
Kinda the point of the song too. "Ya'll don't wanna hear me, ya'll just wanna dance"
Listen to his part on Goodie Mob's "Black Ice". SO UNDERRATED.
@@Brokenhill42 He had the best lyrics in that "Walk It Out" tune too.
@@TruePointers I'll have to check that one out.
rediscovering this video about 4 years after the first time. So many emotions! Ahhhhhhhh
Exact same thing happening to me. Right. Now. Damn.
Same here, hellooo
used to like the first line sooo much!!! but shit happened, soo many memories!!
Literally just remembering now after watching the Outkast version. But I can still sing it in the way he does, after all this time. I also posted the link to this video in the Outkast comments so that someone new may get to enjoy for the first time
Wait til 20 years pass
I didn't realize how beautiful this song was till he covered it this way..
Quite possibly my favorite UA-cam video of all time.
Love this cover even though it has brought out the true sadness of the song ;(
I commented years ago on this beautiful cover. Prob 12 years later I still come back thank you sir your voice and version of this song is pure beauty
12 years later this song still gives me goosebumps.
This helped me through my first heartbreak 18 years ago. ❤
13 years and I always somehow swing back to this, first song I learnt to play and I performed it with my uni roomate in front of everyone in my college as well as dedicating it to two of my teens-twenties relationships. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me and also that you did Andre proud I'm sure, and it also brought to home the contrast of my relationships to my parents. Good luck everybody and thanks for being here along with me on this journey.
This has to be the best cover i've heard of a song ever
This cover never ceases to amaze me. Feel like I’ve listened to it every year of my adult life.
I wish I could see more of the video, before and after he sang. I'd love to hear the crowd's response, and see his reaction.
15 years later and I’m still here on a regular basis. So damn good.
I don't think I will ever get over on this.
Natalia Araujo I don't think I'll ever get over you.
Hahaah damn!
+Thomas Aristy Cruz LOL
awesome
+Natalia Araujo Watch out - he is like 10 years old lol
This might be the best recommendation UA-cam has ever given me
I’ll never forget hearing this for the first time at Washington Family Ranch in Antelope, OR. It was Hawaiian night and pouring rain. One of the best moments of my life.
Feel the feelings after 16 years! Greetings from Germany! 🙂
i used to think this is a song with deep lyric, but never realize hey ya actually a sad song until i start learn to play this song and sing the lyric. This cover is the best cover of the song in my opinion.
Still one of the best covers I've ever heard, even 12 years on. I remember when all the comments were trying to find out who the hell this guy was, as he only had this one video uploaded for years.
what genre is this? asking for an assignment. thank you :)
@@Uliulihoku I'd probably say country blues.
@@dinogreece what about singer-songwriter?
I wouldn't say that, because this song is a cover and not the original artist's work.
@@dinogreece Yeah I know, but we are comparing the original to the cover. The assignment asks for us to "compare the musicstyle". Someone suggested singer-songwriter. Does that have to mean it is a singer-songwriter, isnt it just a genre?
who knew tom segura was so musicaly tallented.
Lmao
You mean Steve Zahn?
😂🤣
got em!
Seth Galifianakis
I used to listen all the time after High School (graduated in 08), and it's 2021 and I came back... I needed to.
Wow I never realized how amazing the lyrics were until now, the amazing beat drowned it out.
This version makes this song so much deeper
My mind is blown. Everything about this song is perfect. Outkast did the unimaginable, Obadiah Parker took it out of the earth. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My boyfriend and I are obsessed about your version, we listen to it every single time we are in the car. It’s amazing, thanks for sharing ❤
I never realised how good the lyrics were in this song.
15 years later I'm still watching this and I'm proud for being one of the people that found this in Ireland and telling everyone that would listen to watch it xxx
Found this when i was in high school. Still listen to it 15 years later
Chris Martin description says it was in 2006...so 13 years ago
Are you from the future or something
2021, dudes a legend 🍻
**stay healthy you beautiful people! And hope things are good or get better!
Its been eight years since i saw this video, oh brings up old memories...
Hmm, this is the original and was uploaded 6 years ago...
Does it bring up old memories of the time you time travelled?
people like you man...
Réécoutée avec grand plaisir aujourd'hui ❤
Omg I forgot about this cover! This brings me back to so many good times. This cover is so amazing
Damn was this really 15 years ago? Still blows me away.
Did anyone else notice how he reaches to wipe his tears at the end? Yeah, we feel the same, pal.
Still one of my favorites. Love it.
One, two, three!
My baby don't mess around
Because she loves me so
This I know fo sho!
But does she really wanna
But can't stand to see me walk out the door
Don't try to fight the feeling
Because the thought alone is killin' me right now
Thank God for Mom and Dad
For sticking to together
Like we don't know how
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya! Hey ya!
Hey ya! Hey ya!
You think you've got it
Oh, you think you've got it
But got it just don't get it when there's nothin' at all
We get together
Oh, we get together
But separate's always better when there's feelings involved
Know what they say -its
Nothing lasts forever!
Then what makes it, then what makes it
Then what makes it, then what makes it
Then what makes love the exception?
So why, oh, why, oh
Why, oh, why, oh, why, oh
Are we still in denial when we know we're not happy here
Hey ya! (y'all don't want to here me, ya just want to dance) Hey ya!
Don't want to meet your daddy (oh ohh), just want you in my caddy (oh ohh)
Hey ya! (oh, oh!) Hey ya! (oh, oh!)
Don't want to meet your momma, just want to make you cum-a (oh, oh!)
I'm (oh, oh) I'm (oh, oh) I'm just being honest! (oh, oh)
I'm just being honest!
Hey! alright now! alright now, fellas!
Yea?
Now, what cooler than being cool?
Ice cold!
I can't hear ya! I say what's, what's cooler than being cool?
Ice cold!
Alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright!
Okay, now ladies!
Yea?
Now we gonna break this thang down for just a few seconds
Now don't have me break this thang down for nothin'
I want to see you on your badest behavior!
Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor!
Ah! Here we go now,
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it
Shake it like a Polaroid picture! Hey ya!
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it
Shake it, shake it, shake it, suga!
Shake it like a Polaroid picture!
Now all the Beyonce's, and Lucy Liu's, and baby dolls
Get on tha floor get on tha floor!
Shake it like a Polaroid picture!
Oh, you! oh, you!
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, oh)
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, oh)
Hey ya!(oh, oh) Hey ya!(oh, oh)
Eleven years now. And still melting my heart...
13 years later I still come back to this video... lifts my soul into the sky...down to the ground
Its only 11 years since the upload but yea wonderful cover
Love this ❤still tell people about Mr.Parker...this version is just beautiful 🌬💕
For a second, I thought the view count was 4.9 billion, and my first thought was, "sounds about right."
Wow, so glad this found me again(2021). Outkast of course was amazing. Outkast’s original version is fascinating that it hides the pain with it’s upbeat sound that I shook to in all the clubs. This cover beautifully exposes that pain and gets you to lean back and think... Thank you Outkast and Mr. Parker.
this is beautiful
Been coming back to this a couple times a year for almost a decade.
In 2017 he still gives me chills
This guys rendition is incredible.
I see a bunch of vine kids trying to recapture this only to fail.. Good effort but this by far is the best cover I'll ever hear.
+telanis9 WAS a group. Then he used it for his solo stuff. Not sure if he's still making music or not.
I very much agree. this guy nailed it
VINE IS DEAD NOOW
ZA_Survivalist Agreed!
I'm from the future. TikTok has become the monolith Vine could only dream of being
Been a long time, but finally back to this beautiful performance
