Plucked from a busy mid-70s rock album and transported to a serene night garden, so dark one has to guide by starlight, surrounded by murmuring night sounds.... and from this shadow world a shimmering light appears, this dreamy, gorgeous, skeletal song... Julia is an amazingly creative and skilled artist.
In my internal pop landscape, where Neil Young drives to all his U.S. shows cross-country in a combine harvester, Julia Holter inhabits a byzantine-era basilica, with acoustics perfectly atuned to her music, capable of expressing both volume and subtlety. I've heard a band (I think it was Hole) go all in on the rock elements of Gold Dust Women, with predictable results. This delicate, separated approach takes all of the thunder and lightning out of the song and suddenly it's a different beast. Same tune, same lyrics but something's changed behind the eyes and it's like a restrained lament.
Usually i listen to 1000% diffrent kind of music sounds like electro bass beat house.. i just found this by accident and only what can i say about.... Its beautyfull ... If something we dont see we can call beauty. Its really is! Respect
Oooh, it's tough to choose which version of this cover is better. I'm tending towards this one though, because while the Dishonored 2 version is pretty damn good, it is a little over done layering wise.
Julia don't mean to pressure you or anything but we need a new album like we need air.
Incredible. She took a song that was Great one way and made it Great a different way. Wow!!

It's so beautiful you can only resort to poetic effusions, just to convey the same impressions these music made on you...

Mosquito Coast brought me here
In order of personal preference - Hole > Julia Holter > Fleetwood Mac.
Let the Crucifixions begin!
It took me about 90 seconds to realise this is a Fleetwood Mac cover! Otherworldly!
She left the 20th Century in the dust on this one.
More cow bell
Im here because "The mosquito coast" new series S01e04 features this track
