When you have Zidane , Inesta and Xavi all endorsing Scholes and saying how extraordinary he is , whatever anyone says about him that’s negative is irrelevant. He was simply magnificent .
Micah quiet for 2 and a half minutes. Miracle lol
The guys a tool
@@chillwinston4216 probably has no clue how good scholes was, wouldn't be surprised
@@benfuller2890 he's just a goofy unfunny pundit
@@benfuller2890scholes is massively overrated
In a word yes...the best. No nonsense, no media/interviews. Amazing footballer mufctid
Scholes could not only excel at the short passing game. His long passing range and his switch of play, which we see less of now, was incredible. Great finisher, brilliant long-range shooting, and he scored a fair few headers for a smaller guy. Total legend.
Won premier leagues in 3 different decades... In the 90s, 2000s and 2010s. Meaning he had to change and adapt his game in 3 different eras. And in all 3 he dominated his role
Didn’t dominate 2010s.. retired and came back .. also was never the best in any year.. very high level and consistent
@@sagarmohanty9655 when he did play in the 2010s he always dictate the games, hence dominated the position
@@harizbadrulhisham3805 disagree.. I think that role had passed to Carrick
Exactly

Scholes was so good, still the best passer I've ever seen and a rocket of a shot on him.
Messi ten times the passer
Paul scholes is the best English midfielder ever, controlled games from start to finish awesome technique great player
Bobby Charlton is the best English midfielder ever. I'm a United fan but Scholes is nowhere near the best midfielder England ever had. Bryan Robson was better, I'd argue Ince was better, plus others. Scholes was good don't get me wrong but he wasn't that good. He was fighting it out with Nicky Butt to cement a place in the United team for several years.
@@Ligerpride Not sure you are a United fan! First of all Charlton played winger, forward and midfield! And a little bit like Scholes dropped deeper in later years! Bryan Robson was incredible, I will give you that he was a better athlete and a better tackler but he could not control the midfield like Scholesey and was not as technically gifted as Scholes! Robbo like Charlton was world class but a completely different player! Ince was great but no where near as good as Scholes and Nicky Butt while very underrated was not in the same class as Scholes and did not play ahead of Scholes!!!
First half of career (near enough) he was a great attacking midfielder, scored plenty of goals and many important goals too! Then became a deep lying playmaker type and was brilliant at that too!
So did Gerrard.
Scholes was much better when he was in control of the tempo of the game for us. Won us so many titles just killing games off with control and composure on the ball
I remember after he came out of retirement and he was so good in that season. Even RVP said that.
@@Bears84No he wasn’t😂
@@Pengboycarti Wrong
Giggs for me ALL DAY LONG - I understand that's not popular due to what we've seen after football, but Giggs was unreal. When he got clapped off by the Spanish at the end told you everything.
Paul Scholes was no doubt a world class Player and proved it by playing on the big stage on the other hand I've always maintained if ever a Manchester United player got close to the great George best it was Ryan Giggs
1:11 - what a mannered gentleman! isnt he?
Can never forget van Persie gushing about Scholes and the difference he made when he came in. Quality recognises quality.
Scholes. The greatest mancunian to play for United. One of the greatest midfielders to play for United and England
Scholes and Giggs easily #1. Can't believe how underrated abd underappreciated players ever.
As great as he was, he wasn't even at his best until 2006. When he got a bit older and dropped deeper, he ran the show every time
Yes, yes and yes.
Scholes better than these easily
He had to retire before his 30s from England. That's how good Scholes was. If Scholes was not an all time great he would've easily got 100 caps for England. 😢
cos England wasn't using him right and he thought fine I'l retire, schools was sacrificed for a Gerrard and lampard partnership which never worked imo, you talk as if England was succesful, glad Scholes chose club over country, England didn't deserve Scholes, it says a lot that people outside England all rate Scholes as one of the best, Iniesta alongside Messi and others were fighting to get his shirt while English people thinks Gerrard and Lampard is better iMO, imagine having one of the best midfielder but playing him on the left? the disrespect
@waynerooney8311 I agree, Scholes should never have been sacrificed for Lampard and Gerrard. England always marginalises real talent. They did the same to Hoddle, Waddle, Le Tissier, Gazza, and so on.
England needed to build their side around Scholes from 1997 onwards.
Instead, Heskey and Scholes have almost the same england caps.
Capello begged him to come back - that tells you how inept previous managers were at managing this group of talented players properly
No left foot.. kdb best 2 footed midfielder the premier league as ever seen 🏆🏆🏆🏆
@@derrickwinter9737 broski, Scholes was at Zidane level. KDB is class and excellent. Only love for both.
Micah waiting to "burst" into the discussion😅
One of the things that is surprising is Scholes only scored about 10 less goals in his career than Gerrard did, I can't quite remember if that's overall or just league games. But I expected Gerrard to have scored quite a few more and it was a lot tighter than I thought it would be.
Really? And Gerrard took pens
@Edgisco yeah, it's league goals I just checked. Gerrard had 120 goals in 504 games, Scholes scored 107 in 499 games.
@@craigseddon4884 pretty amazing when you consider Gerrard must have at least 20 penalties in there?
@@Edgisco 32
Then I don’t get it why people are so reluctant to say Scholes is the best…
Without doubt a great player but he had a great team around him, so hard to judge
Imagine a P.Scholes without asthma and healty knee's....scary crazy good
What saddens me is that in the modern era of physicality, what happens to the players like Scholes who are wonderous to behold on the pitch, simply because of the magic they can do with a ball?
Paul Scholes was evidently the best player in the world, it's clear from watching him play. He just wasn't recognised enough, he led a sensible and modest life without needing to be on the back (or front) of newspapers to satisfy his ego.
Come on, that's rubbish.
Yes. Next question.
People will say Lampard and Gerrard are better, because of stats, but neither of them could dictate a game like Scholesy. Brilliant footballer
Easily in the top ten. In fact top 5 all time. The titles he's won give him that top 5 advantage. Very different passer of the ball, could see things were gonna happen like no other.
I could name at the very least 30 midfielders better.. You're having a laugh.. Relax with the exaggeration
@@abcdefg3214 go ahead. Name me thirty who are better and have won 10 league titles?
Anyone who questions Paul Scholes just needs to listen to the comments from the Likes of Zidanne, who rates him as one of the best midfielders ever.
Question for those who consider Scholes the best midfielder ever, which is a ludicrous assertion in my opinion.
Can you name 5 stand out performances that he made? What matches was he a talisman in and his performance (not moment) made the crucial difference?
The best midfielder England produced since Sir Bobby Charlton. IMO better than Xavi, better range of passing plus goals, and yes I'm old enough to have seen Sir Bobby. I'm not A Man U fan.
If he was Spanish or Brazilian he would have been considered one of the greatest ever
Possibly our only player that wouldve got into the barcelona team of his era.
Bit of an odd statement considering United were better than Barcelona for most of his career and Scholes was struggling to keep a place at United up until he was in his mid 20s.
@@Ligerprideby like 23 he was playing like 40+ games a year that’s hardly struggling
Best?? Apart from Gerrard. Simple question is. Pick 150 clips each of both Gerrard and Scholes. That you think sum up the totally of each hjghlighting the normal.. passing, tackling, leadership, scoring, skill, weakness, etc etc etc you name it. You will find as a compare and contrast on balance Gerrard can match Scholes to a better degree than Scholes can match Gerrard. Both were brilliant of course.
The video is about Scholes as a one club legend
Gerrard the complete midfielder.had massive moments in massive games.
Paul Scholes is your favorite player favorite player
Innesta say he wish he play with paul Scholes
Watch Hoddle and Platini
I don’t why England never try lampard scholes or Gerard scholes rather than lampard Gerard all the time
Bellingham and foden for the current generation
First time one touch pass and vision - no one was better. Let’s stop this argument.
If sven ericksons did nt play him as a left cm.. Play him center midfield england will win against Brazil in 2002 world cup..
Scholes better than Gerrard, Lampard & de bruyne
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣no chance it’s definitely kdb💯
@@derrickwinter9737by an absolute mile
frenkie de jong better than all
He didn't even win player of the year at utd Hahahahahahahaha
@@beaualoevvtell me when to stop laughing
Shearer was also naughty and intentional in his fouling.
Tough one between Scholes and Gerrard. KDB brilliant but i think he is behind Scholes and Gerrard.
Scholes was good but can still remember alot of fans wanted him sold around 2005 because he was rubbish
Shearer was so bothered he was cleaning his trainers 🤣
Reading his notes :-) (You can see them on his lap in the wide shots)
Wow, you’re so rattled by Shearer 🤣.
Scholes could do everything Gerrard and lampard could do but they couldn't do what he could
Please tell me what Scholes could do that Gerrard could not. this should be fun.
1 - Man United fans always bang on about how good he was and yet they never voted him their player of the season once
2 - He never won a single individual award (Gerrard won multiple. PFA player of the year 05/06, FWA player of the year 08/09, UEFA player of the year 04/05 and many others)
3 - He was never voted in the UEFA team of the year (Gerrard was 3 times. 2005, 2006, 2007)
4 - He recorded zero top 10 Ballon d’Or finishes (Gerrard recorded 3 top 10 finishes 2005, 2008, 2009)
5 - He was voted in the PFA team of the year twice (Gerrard was voted in it 8 times which is a record)
6 - He only scored in 1 cup final. 1999 FA cup final (Gerrard is the only player in footballing history to score in a CL final (2005) FA cup final (2006) UEFA cup final (2001) and league cup final (2003)
You forgot that scholes never slipped, and gerrard did. As the old saying goes “
Gerrard wins you games, Scholes wins you league’s “
@@SunnyTocaBocaScholes admitted recently that he couldn’t do what Gerrard did at Liverpool - look it up. And I’m a Spurs fan with no skin in this one
All you have to do is have basic football knowledge. Everyone real fan knows how class he was.
Support no English team. Neutral observer - Scoles was the best midfielder by a mile. It's nkt even close.
I'm a United fan. I would completely agree with your post but for the fact that you seem to be using it as a platform to suggest Gerrard was some next level player.
Personally I think you raise some excellent points about Scholes but I think both Scholes and Gerrard were massively overrated (yet very technically gifted) footballers and who relied very much on being surrounded by better players such as Beckham, Giggs, Alonso etc.
Scholes was amazing to be fair top 3 EASY not up for debate
Why do I feel like Shearer hates Scholes the person but can't hate the player? 😅
Nothing wrong with that. At least he acknowledges that he was a great player, unlike a lot of Man U ex players who don’t acknowledge the other way around. I think Neville is one of the ones that has less of a bias but it still exists.
When pep Guardiola says he was the best ! You have to listen lol
Henry, Zidane, Pep...They all pick Scholes & there is no coincidence they are not English. If England built their team around Scholes...
Richard’s has no idea what they are walking about. If it didn’t happen after 2015 he has no idea 😂😂
When ,zidane, xavi and iniesta ,were all were asked ,who was the best midfielder in there opinion ,they all said scholes ,that should be enough for any doubters or critics
They all said same bout Gerrard too
He made the premier league team of the season the same number of times as David batty and never won a single vote in the ballon Dor but here we are many years later putting him up on mount Rushmore. It's ludicrous.
Never kicked a player in the face whilst they were sitting down though did he Alan....
Retired, came back and won another PL title.
Gerarrd went to LA Galaxy to retire and was useless.
Paul Scholes, the player that gets better and better after every passing year with new quotes from Zidane with no credible source.
Salty
Correct
Boss player Scholes slightly overrated tho
Paul Scholes is better than Kevin de Bruyne he was the Midfield Machine
for club and Country
That's why England never picked him in his best position, ahead of Gerrard or lampard.. Funny that lol.. Delusional at its highest
Scholes was great.. But Gerrard could do everything he was the perfect box to box, but kdb will retire as the best playmaker the prems has ever seen and better than everything scholes was good at... There's a reason lampard and Gerrard started ahead of him.. Don't you think????
The midfield 4 of giggs, scholes, keane and beckham was just a joke
I love how Alan shearer is so begrudging to praise a United player, ever. The eyes down and gotta bring the negative in, but know you need to sound generally respectful. And I’ve no bias to either by the way or any clubs they played for. But he’s very consistent on that throughout everything I’ve watched. Just makes me laugh a little.
One of the most over rated players of all time
Easy answer… YES!!!
Scholes played well under Fergie, but struggled under other managers.
Best ever???
Don't be silly.
Scholes retired and United fell off a cliff
No he wasn’t lmao end of
Shearer is a waste of time. He played with Scholes at least 30+ times, against him 20+. Surely he has better insight beyond Scholes’ tackling. Please try harder.
To be fair he hates United so this must have been torture for him.
To be fairer he headed alot of footballs he's probably forgot
Did you watch the clip?? He sang his praises on his passing, control and technique
One rightfully negative comment about his awful fouling that he constantly got away with and it sets you off. You obviously didn’t listen to the rest. Try harder.
Gerrard
Scholes
KDB
Keane
Viera
Yaya
Lampard
🤣🫣
Where is Fabregas
Made shearer look like the muppet he is 😅
Yeah right, made the premier league all time top goal scorer look like a muppet 😂.
Gerrard the best cant be any arguments end of conversation not even a question
