Pioneer Amps are the same way, where to put that pre-amp board...........................is the problem. Appreciate the insight of problem areas as I am searching for a 7100 thru 9100 (NO EBAY) to buy.
Tell me please. Took a Kenwood KA 8150. When turning on/off the "Power" switch on a cold one, there is a click/crack on the acoustic system. Not critical, but noticeable. When it works for 15-20 minutes, then the relay works perfectly. There is a delay, everything is ok.
@@lubchyck if the crack is immediate when you turn power off, it's the switch. If there is a 1-2 second delay the crack, the problem is in the protection relay circuit. There is a transistor not switching properly or a capacitor not discharging quickly enough. The circuit would need require troubleshooting to know exactly what is the cause short of replacing all components in the circuit. It may also be that regulated power supplies are not symmetrical anymore when cold, causing the problem.
@@JordanPier crackling occurs only after a cold shutdown: immediately after 1-2 seconds after switching to the OFF position. if the amplifier works longer than 20-30 minutes, then everything is ok. I can turn it on and off all day without a problem.
Bought 8150. its a beast, stereo separation and sound stage are wonderful!

Nice :)
That was an easy fix - I wonder if the broken power cord was the reason it got retired from its previous home.
Great video, keep em commin.

Power switch is failing. See if you have an unused side of contacts. Connect in parallel with existing side.
@@JordanPier Sorry. I'm not very good at repairs. Is it about the On/Off toggle? Because I thought it was the relay. Can you explain in detail?

@@JordanPier 1.5 mm. Someone had told me 2 and I was getting frustrated. Lol
I can't help but laugh when you describe the state of this amp as "dirty" or "crusty", given the state of your workbench...
Nice!
Sorry but you say that amp is crusty, and it is but, so is your lab...
It'd be a shame to part out an amp like that
