@@bxboro4662 They weren’t cool before the battle but they were around each other at certain places. They went on a small chitlin circuit tour back in the early 90s with Large Professor, Big Daddy Kane and Jaz-O before they blew up. Large Professor did a interview talking about that situation. They were aware of each other and respected each other’s skills but they were not friends and didn’t know each other from a can of paint but they have mutual friends. I was glad that they squashed their beef including with other people because they’re older now and it’s time to move on to better things because life is too short.

The lyricism on tracks like “Live at the bbq”, “Back to the Grill Again”, “Halftime” and “It Ain’t Hard to Tell” would eat up entire albums of most of these new rappers out now.
And Jay’s first album is one of the best use of slick metaphors ever put on wax. Tracks like “22 two’s “ and “cashmere thoughts” are just lyrical masterpieces of slick word play.
