100%. I don't even like their earlier stuff at all, but when I heard "When A Demon Defiles a Witch" for the first time I was hooked. Since then I've got into Mark Of The Blade too, but I still can't get on with the earlier stuff.
The valley is tied with a new era of corruption for me the albums they made with Ben as drummer just feel to flat to me (which are the self titled album our endless war and mark of the blade) dudes a beast of a drummer but it just didn’t fit for me
@@Witness089 I agree 100%. Bought them, listened to them, but always went back to This is Exile, New Era, and now the Valley has been a daily listener for two years
Phil's clean vocals sound really good live. I was a little worried that the slow part in ...Demon Defiles a Witch wouldn't sound natural and would almost be jarring, but it wasn't. It sounded flawless. In fact, his ability to sing in both styles so naturally shows how gifted the man really is. He's more than earned my respect.
I don’t know man, that one note at 42:58 sounded pretty rough. They’ve started doing Hickory Creek and Third Depth live, and Phil is great at the clean vocals live now. But here, he was still not very confident with them in the live setting.
Schrute-Farms- That could also very well have had something to do with it. I imagine that it’s not easy to sing after doing harsh vocals for an hour. I’m not dogging on Phil at all, I think he’s an awesome vocalist and person. But that part just didn’t sound very good to me.
@@The_JustJoshing His cleans sound amazing, honestly. They were great when standing in the crowd, it was just a shame that he didn't quite hit the note he wanted to. He's gotten better at them with time though, I'll agree on that. Saw them half a year later, and Hickory Creek sounded flawless live.

lol We saw Sevendust and Lajon was dressed up like a rich rancher. Even did a little cowboy dance with his thumbs hooked into his belt next to his giant belt buckle.
Like, if you compare how this sounds to fullforce 2019, you can kind of see what I mean, specially on when a demon defiles a witch. The clean backing vocals make all the difference, and the clean singing part sounds properly compressed, instead of the mess it does on fullforce, because they actually automated it to work differently on screamed vocals compared to sang vocals.
Hoping to see more old songs included in the future. Gets me all excited :D. Love the energy of the band overall and Alex is just great. Hope he tracked with them on the new album. Could feel his pain here when he briefly 'fucked up' on a tiny double bass part in the father of lies outro. Also see and appreciate how they changed up their live delivery (end of flesh outro live, standalone melody at the end of father of lies, instrumentals between songs). Phil did a great job with the brief clean vocals, too.
Alex may be playing them live but damn can we just appreciate the perfection that Kevin Lane had for whitechapel on this is exile and a new era of corruption. Wish he wouldn’t have left
@@lunalancer5971 In Kin he proved to have a great range in clean vocals (Kin, Orphan) but it's not always easy to use it in live after 1 hour of intense false cord growls.

such a brutal band with some of the most hardcore sounds, and then it looks like the entire band is just a bunch of dudes jamming

Hooking up with rudinger, really excellent decision.
Where's the WC drummer?
Vega Vein they don’t have one. They’ve been pretty much relying on touring drummers the last few years since Ben left.
Hell ya Fan since Threat Signal He is a "Sick Drummer" very Talented .
Agree! Alex is perfect for the job.
