Everyone who read this have to know, that the chain and bludgeon of that flail is made of steel and is a leathal weapon, that can kill without armor, but the spikes we used are made from hard rubber. Yes we do crazy stuff, but we don't wanna kill each other. At the end of the day, we are friends. We are living for martial arts, but we don't wanna die for it.

@q9260 doesnt change that a person who plays football is more likely to have faced serious injuries than a person who practices hema
@bytheburnside7539 i... I think we would need more stats to actually state that as fact. Unless of course you have those stats in front of you. This is likely how many fights between knights happened. The armour keeps you safe from most attacks, so you only have 3 options.
1) Try to crush parts of the armour using heavy/mace weapons (like the flail) - which restricts your enemy's movements and might even lead to concussions or cracked bones/skulls.
2) Look for gaps in the armour to deal maximum damage (which is what the guy who pulled the dagger was trying to do).
3) Outlast your opponent in terms of energy. Fighting in armour is exhausting for long periods. These men would have been more fit and athletic than the average person today, but a 20-minute duel in the hot sun in armour like this will eventually see one of them too tired to continue.
And, as us described in medieval treaties, wrestle your opponent to the groundwirh quitesophisticat3d technique
Yeah, but keep in mind that most fights weren't to the end. Armor made it very hard to do it quickly, so you had to struggle and "savor" the fight to end it. Very traumatic for the winning side and gives plenty of time for the losing side to wonder if this is really worth his life. That is why most fights between knights would end with one side yielding and there was entire system of customs to taking Prisoners of War and ransoming them.
I don't understand why i find this hilarious

World leaders should do this instead of sending the working class to war.
Dawn of a thousand years of diplomacy.
This is what world leaders did one thousand years ago. They would pick up arms and take part in the wars they started. The people expected it from a great leader to lead from the front.

You don't understand, war happens because leaders agree.
Now I'm not defending any leaders cause I think there are some right idiots in charge right now but just saying how stupid this notion is
Simplifying our leaders role to purely deciding what wars to start or fight in is the stupidest kind of simplification imo
Sure our leaders in the past were fierce warriors and great generals but you know what also happened? They died young and stupid and their people got conquered by the other side because their enemies were sensible enough to not place their most valuable and vulnerable person in front
For every Alexanders or Caesars there are countless other unremembered warlords and their forgotten tribes who got conquered because their leader was stupid enough to charge a wall of spears or other nonsense
Also what if we did do this? What if we lost? Would we be okay bowing down to an Russian leader? What about an Iraqi? An afghan? What about a Chinese?
A leaders role is more than leading battlefields or fighting personal duels because that road will lead down the road where MIGHT MAKES RIGHT and that world is 1 where no one would want to live
Just a reminder of how utterly brutal combat once was.
Not to downplay contemporary battle, but I think I'd rather take a silent bullet from a guy I can't even see ,than be exhausted and sweaty in a metal suit while I listen to the heavy breathing from the guy slowly caving in my chest with a spiked flail.
The thing is, you have a chance to be the winner in this situation. However, you can't beat that silent bullet. 😂
Modern combat is more like this:
Your nation gets invaded. You listen on the news about how the situation was scary at first but the nation has pulled through and the tide has quickly turned around in your favor. Your heroes are inflicting 10 casualties for every 1 taken. The enemy is unprepared with poor morale and training and using nonfunctional equipment and dropping like flies. Victory will be achieved. Your patriotic friend signs up and for a few weeks while near the front line he tells you everything is great, he can’t wait to get into combat. A few more days go by and he tells you about how he narrowly survived a cruise missile strike because he was outside of the barracks by pure chance when it happened. He seems more somber, it seems they lost people. He says he’s deploying to the front line and wants payback. You never hear from him again.
The war goes on for a few more days until you are conscripted. You’re hesitant but feel fighting to defend your country is the right thing to do. You wonder what your friend is up to now, surely he couldn’t be… You know. You arrive to the training grounds and get shown how to hold your rifle, fire a hundred rounds, march a little, get told how the squad works. A week later you’re woken up and told you’re being deployed. Suddenly you’re puzzled because it takes many months of training to become a proficient soldier. You were told your army is well trained, but you’ve only had a week of training. What is going on?
Well, you aren’t given a choice. You join a battalion moving to the front line. You notice from a few conversations it’s at half strength already even with the fresh company that just joined. The fighters who were there before don’t like to talk about what they’ve gone through. One day you overhear that most of the battalion was lost during the last offensive action, mostly to artillery. Only one platoon even reached the enemy lines to have a firefight. But that can’t be true?
You find yourself in the trenches. It’s Fall and the rains are torrential. The trenches are constantly flooded. Many of the men have trenchfoot. You are constantly cold. The enemy has begun a new offensive operation in your area and the artillery barrage is nonstop around the clock. Boom. Boom. Boom. Some hit so close it feels like there’s an earthquake. You develop a nervous tick and shake sometimes when you get nervous. People are slowly disappearing from the battalion. A dozen or so a day. You don’t want to think about the losses. How can your side possibly be winning? Where are the superior casualty ratios? There’s only been a few firefights and those were indecisive, but the enemy never stops pounding with their artillery. Yours are almost never around to respond.
New ones come but disappear just as quickly. Eventually frost sets in and despite your best efforts between the wet and the cold you end up with frostbites on your extremities. However, you perceiver.
Spring rolls around and you have an influx of new recruits. Like you when you got there, they have only a week or two of training. Some are even afraid of the sound of their own gunfire. Your battalion receives an order to advance. On a relatively quiet morning, company sized groups creep into the fields and begin a march towards the enemy trenches under the cover of the darkness.
You’re near a couple of tanks and armored personnel carriers. You hear your own artillery laying down a greater barrage than you’ve ever heard from them. Maybe what you overheard from the media is right, this will be the offensive that defeats the enemy and wins the war. The supplies are prepared, the units are replenished, even if it is with raw recruits and not elite soldiers like the media says.
Not a kilometer into the advance, enemy artillery hits your column. A dozen men are laid down within minutes. The captain radios command, but is ordered to keep moving through the open ground. The company dutifully obeys. Then, an explosion rocks one of the tanks. It’s a land mine, and the tank is knocked out. The second tank speeds around and also gets caught on a mine. A few of the infantry men try to run to the tanks to evacuate the crew but suddenly are hit by smaller explosions and fall over. Several men are without legs. One of the tanks detonates. Maybe a guided missile, or laser guided shell? But how could that be? The allies who provided you the tanks said the enemy had no weapons capable of taking them out with.
You seethe at the situation, but there’s no time to vent your frustration. It’s clear the company has no path through the minefield. The captain orders the survivors to mount on the APCs, and they begin a retreat. Only, thirty second later, one of them explodes. Dozens of men riding on top are wounded. It was a mine, but how? You had just passed through this are merely minutes ago. With horror, you realize enemy artillery had used remote minelaying shells to pepper your escape route with mines. You are now completely trapped in a minefield.
The captain orders the men to walk in a wide formation and hope they can make it out. One by one, dozens more men have their feet or legs torn off by mines. Another APC explodes. Then, artillery begins to rain down. Half the unit had been wiped out, and never even saw the enemy. You make it out of the minefield and hide in the hastily dug trenchline which had been prepared before the assault.
While you wait for the captain to get new instructions, you hear a high pitched buzzing getting louder followed by an explosion. Then another, and another. FPV drones.
You hear a call from your best friend. You run around the corner of the trench and find him laying there, missing his forearms. You tourniquet his limbs and tell him it will be find, medevac will be on the way. It’s not true.
The other men run while you stay with your friend, promising you’ll take care of his children back home. You hear the buzzing again. Boom!
The world is silent, but for a high-pitched ringing. Smoke and dust fill your vision. Your head spins and you realize you’ve been hit. Something in your back aches. You try to kick to push yourself into a seated position but your legs don’t work. You realize there must be fragmentation in your spine.
You call on the radio for evacuation, but there’s only static in response. The enemy is jamming communications. For a day you lay there, unable to move but still alive. You see a soldier during the night. He approaches you and looks you over. You ask him for help, and he looks at you with a strange expression. He takes your radio and your gun, and you realize he is not on your side. He looks you over and shrugs, then just leaves. He’s a recon element, you surmise. He can’t take you prisoner because that would slow him down.
The pain grows worse with each passing hour. Infection, no doubt. You begin calling out from the trench for somebody. Anybody. Even the enemy, to come help you. Nobody comes.
On the second day the pain is intolerable and dehydration is setting in. You are sitting in your own excrement. You hear the sounds of a tank approaching from your side, but an explosion follows and the sound of treads is silenced.
Another day goes by and, exhausted, you slump over onto your friend. He reeks, but you have no more energy to keep yourself upright. You promised to take care of his family, but never thought to ask someone to take care of your own.
You pass on, but are never marked KIA. This way your brigade commander doesn’t have to give your family a payout and can collect your salary. Officially you are still a proud soldier fighting valiantly in defense of his homeland. So are the rest of your company, though half of them have not been seen by anybody for months. You are eventually retrieved by the enemy, their soldiers grimacing at the smell you leave. You are returned to your home country and unceremoniously buried with a little flag over your grave, one in a sea of tens of thousands, just in that one graveyard, more flags in that one graveyard than the total losses admitted to by the president you voted for. Your family is not present for the funeral because they were never notified of your passing. When they make calls to find out where you are, they are told to stop asking, that such questions undermine the morale of the nation at such a dangerous time…
This was really well-written! Nicely done.

I’d crack a beer and get my camp chair.
i'd be so fucking confused! have me thinkin I went back in time.
Honestly, that is some solid combat. Nice video.
This sure teaches us to take a Spiked Flail very seriously. Its weight/momentum and indirect attack are difficult to defend against.
Imagine just hiking around the woods just to find 2 knights dueling 😂
Bro I'd lose my mind thinking I went through a time rift or some s**t.
That would be amazing 😃 and i would pray they don't see me 😂
This escalated further then i thought lmao
first i saw couple of your victorious duels, and now i saw you get beaten at least as forcefully as you beat your opponents. if not bit more! that first hit to head, around your guard! beautiful execution, first time i saw a weapon get around a guard in action! only heard of it in theory. it must've ringed your bell pretty badly and it was from there onwards, that i knew you have found your match. these vids are beautiful, my new favorite thing in UA-cam.
cheers from Finland!!
At this speed of combat it must've taken days for 20000 men to fuck each other up😂😂😂
watching this while i eat my chicfila. i am truly royalty.
Bro got bones broke from that gears of war execution in the end. That flail is no joke
"Look at all that juice"
It looks to be much lighter than it is supposed to be. Guess, they were using some lighter alloy instead of steel. Otherwise it would be deadly.
@@solarissv777true otherwise the creator would have had his skull crack open
yeh it was like this,,,either done in with blunt trauma or stabbed, what you can feel is the sheer effort, the heat - the sweat from armoured close quart combat
"Haha, nice fight Bob! Now get up, its time to go home"
...
"Bob?"
It’s just for a video bro:
The video:
Can you imagine a whole field of slightly disappointed people with armor clanking saying "ow!" Everytime they got hit 😂
Made me laugh
These guys are the real deal. Even just watching you can learn from them.
Mom: What are guys doing upstairs!!!?
Bros: Nothing!
Disclaimer: this stunt is performed by a trained professional. Please do not try this at home
Exactly!
And if you do, please film it

Guy on the ground tried rolling but his equipment was too heavy... filthy casual...
Aquí en ESPAÑA 🇪🇦🇪🇦 también usamos armas y luchamos cuerpo a cuerpo. Pero esto es la ostia santa.¡¡¡😅😅😅
Hollywood needs you to save medieval films. You guys are so authentic it puts them to shame.
i mean, the fights in 'the king' and 'the last duel' were pretty damn accurate
@@MyBinaryLifeYeah but the armor in The King sucked, and it had the usual Netflix/Hollywood phenomenon of having the saturation turned way down because the director took the term “Dark Ages” too literally. The Last Duel I have not seen so I will not judge.
These guys are authentic because it IS 'authentic'. May he rest in peace with his honour and dignity.
wdym the guy is dead 😭
@MyBinaryLife you know nothing John Snow.😂
That weapon performed much better than expected. people like to rag on the flail quite alot. but it seemed to be really hard to block it effectively. the opponent would block the shaft, but the top would still hit.
And when trying to multitask blocking both, it seemed to lead to unfavorable binds.
Two handed flails aren't like the one handed flails that require more skill. You pretty much just swing that like any other long mace
The only way to possibly beat flail in a duel is charge to close in the gap so that flail loses optimal performance range. No pain no gain, but also remember, the flail user may also understand his flaw and take counter measures too.

they should really start to put these kind of fights in movies. Please someone employ these people and make realistic medieval movies
This video especially since it has no music just feels so raw and "real"
It's much more expensive to do it this way for extras, unless you find a dedicated reenactors that can do it for the craft.
check out the king starring timothy chalamet, as far as full medieval knight combat goes in movies it's up there in realism I think
The last duel
@@patrickbueno3279 for the craft = for the fame
fame = money if you make anything of it
Normaly its a fight, this was a slaughter
This is the type of imagination that me and my brother think when we play as a kid
I used to look at weapons like this as foolish, because you get one swing and then you’re wide open for a counterattack. But now I realize that with some proper technique, there is NO room for a counterattack because whoever it was aimed at either had to block, duck, or die when a small spiky wrecking ball suddenly entered their personal airspace at mach 3.
