    Great video - pacing is good, video work is clear, you show enough technique without unnecessary repetition, and your voice is calming. I especially love the "mod" flower button. Thanks for inspiring me!

    I enjoyed your tutorial, it was very helpful, especially as I am a knitter. The only thing that would help me more is what a #3 means. The issue is that all machines differ. A description of weather a 3 is a thick, medium thickness or thin would be more helpful. Thank you so much.

    These buttons are gorgeous. I was wondering, how many times can you wash these buttons. Being clay - do they disintegrate after time?

    • @SweetWillowDsgn
      @SweetWillowDsgn  7 років тому +3

      Hi Sharee. Thanks for watching. The buttons are very durable if cured properly. The issue will be if you put any surface treatment and/or varnish on. Those will wear over time. Here's a great article by the Blue Bottle Tree that you'll find interesting. thebluebottletree.com/wash-polymer-clay-buttons/ Let me know if you make any buttons and how they hold up.

    This is a great tutorial - thank you. I have a question: Do you ever put a glaze on the buttons to make them shiny? How does that wear and how do you keep the holes from filling. Thanks!

    • @SweetWillowDsgn
      @SweetWillowDsgn  6 років тому +1

      Hi. So glad you enjoyed this tutorial. I don't generally use a varnish. Here's a great article by The Blue Bottle Tree where she tested polymer clay buttons with varnish. You'll see that with laundering it washed off. Surface treatments such as mica and paint can wash/wear off but polymer clay holds up really well. Hope the article is informative. Check our her other articles, this is a treasure trove of information. thebluebottletree.com/wash-polymer-clay-buttons/

    These are so cool, love them. I saw you put the buttons in corn starch is that just till you bake them?

    • @SweetWillowDsgn
      @SweetWillowDsgn  7 років тому +2

      Valerie, I bake them in the corn starch. I'm basically using the corn starch as a "cushion" or support for the buttons with shanks since I can't bake them shank side down or on their face without distorting the texture. Corn starch works great and washes off. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!! 💚

    hi. I was wondering if I could just just coloured clay instead of painting them? xx

    • @SweetWillowDsgn
      @SweetWillowDsgn  7 років тому

      Absolutely you can use colored clay. The reason I'm using paint here is that I get two colors versus one with the clay. I sand or wipe away the excess paint to reveal the other color. Adds to highlighting the texture. You can try to achieve the same with clay for sure!

    What kind of cutters are you using to cut the clay?

    • @SweetWillowDsgn
      @SweetWillowDsgn  7 років тому +1

      I use all kinds of cutters - some made specifically for clay by Sculpey or others, cookie cutters, canape cutters and I have some small leather cutters. Look around for tools you can use with your clay! The clay is non-toxic but tools should not be reused for food. Thanks for watching!

    • @Krityum
      @Krityum 7 років тому

      Sweet Willow Designs thanks. Could you please tell me where I can buy cutters similar to the ones you are using in this video? I have a bunch of small cutters but the clay Sticks inside their holes when I cut it so I have to use another tool to poke it out of the cutter from the other side. That leaves a mark on all the small pieces I cut. The cutters you are using in the video don't seem to have that issue.

    • @SweetWillowDsgn
      @SweetWillowDsgn  7 років тому +1

      Hi Krityum, here are two sets that I use all the time. A couple of notes to help regarding the sticking.
      Make sure your clay is well stuck on a glass mat or tile and use either plastic wrap or lightly dust your cutters with cornstarch. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. amzn.to/2rj8owW, amzn.to/2suh6N9
