I’m pretty sure that this is a good example of what having a sensory processing disorder feels like. Like- you can pick out the different parts, but it’s all the same intensity, which makes the harmonies way more noticeable. They may not necessarily be louder than normal, but you can definitely hear them much more either way. I also want to point out that I predict this being the reason why somebody else here mentioned that it feels panicky.

My brother loved looking at the piano! He saw 1:54 and started breakdancing on the floor! He even did some wild foaming in his mouth! He yelled a lot, and sang some wild gibberish, while sounding as if he was gargling stuff! Probably an homage to Splatoon music. But then he just slept. He hasn't gotten up for a while. But I'll let him rest. That performance was epic, so maybe it just took a lot of energy out of him!
This is actually makes me really think about how we perceive music and how it remains so recognizable in feel and sound despite it's tonal range being so severely slashed.
At first, it feels like the anxiety raising as the level time runs out. Then, it's more like having a panic attack for losing at the very end of the level.

That makes a lot of sense. I have audio processing difficulties and in my case it's almost exactly like what you described.
