With Microsoft controllers you can use disposable batteries, rechargeable batteries or a rechargeable battery pack - you have the choice of three options. Oh, and the best part is Microsoft controllers are not disposable like Sony controllers - once the disposable or rechargeable batteries or the rechargeable battery pack are dead, you just swap them out. So whilst Sony has made many improvements with the Dualsense (their best controller to date), it still feels inferior to the Xbox controller and still has this stupid system of non-user replaceable internal battery. I personally have been using rechargeable batteries for decades for devices that require a battery, and I don't just mean controllers. And I have always been more than satisfied. In the specific case of a controller, it's the simplest solution for me. I usually have high-quality batteries, e.g. from “Varta” and usually with a high mAh value from 2500 and higher. I also have a smart charging station that allows me to discharge used batteries to 100% before recharging them. This prolongs the life of the batteries. I can play for days on end and if the controller runs out of power in the middle of a gaming session, I can swap the batteries in just a few seconds. I always have several charged pairs to hand. If one or more batteries break after years, I simply replace them without any problems. Personally, I hate built-in batteries because they always end the entire life of the whole device at some point!
To me this is a pro for the controller. It means the controllers will last a lot longer and I won't ever have to take one apart because of a defective or leaky battery. And has nobody here ever heard of rechargeable AA batteries? I've been using them for decades.

Have been trying to use rechargeable NiMH АА elements with Xbox controllers. And main concern was about the capacity efficiency. 1.45 V - the voltage of thoroughly charged accumulators 1.25 V - the controller turns off ... but the cells are rated for even lower 1.2 V to be their normal voltage, down to 0.9 V. The controller can't use most of their capacity properly leaving you to put the batteries on recharge. NiMH batteries prefer full duty cycle from 🔋1.45 V to 🪫0.9 V and then back to 🔋1.45 V. If charged or discharged partially they'll lose some of the capacity due to memory effect. Most of chargers don't bother discharging batteries to 0.9 V prior to charging them back to full resulting in degraded capacity and gradually reduced playtime very soon.

My favourite option for charging is the Xbox Elite Series 2 that has an internal 2050mah battery, it lasts 40 hours and the charging dock is so simple to use you just drop it on there and never have to think about charging.
Charge a controller daily is far from being a problem… back in the Ps1, Ps2 days everything was wired and we didn’t had a problem with it. You can still play while is being charged and it’s a much better alternative than freaking disposable double A batteries in the 2020’s.
Not to mention your controller will not have battery issue after 5 years, my Xbox controller still playing nice since 2017 while my PS4 one bought in 2018.... Well not so much
I bought one of those battery packs with a charge port on it. It fits flush on the back of the xbox controller and emulates a regular charge up controller. I have two of them so if one needs to charge I can just swap it out for another. And the drained one charges as I play with the other one.
I bought a pack of 8 rechargeable AAs for 20 bucks and a charger for 20 bucks. That was 10 years ago. I'm still using the same batteries and get 70-80 hours of battery life on my Steam controller. There is no good reason for controllers to have non-removable batteries.
At moments when you forget to charge your controllers the option of having disposable batteries makes a lot of sense, and besides you can get the rechargeable batteries to work with so it's the best of both worlds.
20 years from now, when the PS4/5 and Xbox 360/One/Series X are all 'retro', it'll be incredibly difficult to find a working Playstation controller, whereas the issue of dead integrated batteries won't be an issue for Xbox. The same will probably be true for handhelds like 3DS, etc.
I have a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries for all stuff in the house. So much easier to swap out batteries rather than plug it in to charge while playing. Problem solved
easy and internal battery can only be replaced by buying a new controller costing you $60+. Whereas with the disposable ones you just have to replace the batteries it's much more consumer friendly.

Well at least if you have a charger for the controller it still works because for vr users if you don’t have batteries means no playing you’re basically paying a weekly subscription to have your controllers working
I actually like having different choices when it comes to battery packs from Power A , Microsoft, PDP Gaming. I never tried rechargeable AA batteries but have used Duracell batteries for my Xbox controller and they are decent for 40 hours give or take.
I'm team choice. You can use disposable or you can use rechargeable. Xbox leaves it up to the user. I use 2 rechargeable batteries. That way I have fresh rechargeable battery ready when I need them.
They really need to include the battery pack as standard, not the AA. You could still choose to use AA if that was your thing. You shouldn’t have to pay extra for the MS official battery.
I don’t like those third party docks with low capacity batteries, those cheap batteries degrade quickly so don’t last many years. Plus I buy the fancy limited edition controllers, so I’m not using an ugly black or white replacement battery cover that ruins the design of the controller.
Buy 4 rechargeable batteries , charger, keep one pair fully charged in drawer and when batteries in controller are empty i just put new ones in in less then 15 seconds and put old in charger . Like this you can never run out of juice . But i get it that someone like just plug in and charge
You can’t get good quality 3000man triple a batteries, I don’t know where you got that nugget from. Good quality double a max out at around 2600mah, you can get higher ones say 2800mah but these sacrifice charge cycles and are usually from dubious no brand sources, not worth buying for a piddly extra 200mah over high quality Energizer, Duracell or Eneloop. Actual Battery packs max out at 2050mah, that’s the one that’s inside the Elite series 2 so we can’t use that for a regular series controller. So we are left with the MS official battery pack at 1400mah, which still lasts 30hours. There’s a million low capacity third party packs available, but I’ve never seen one that fits in the actual battery compartment at a higher capacity.
Thanks for the video dude. Really helped me. But may i ask for another third party controller battery. How much percent i must put on battery charge when i want to store my wireless gamepad for a long time like 1 year or more? Does charge at 50 - 70 percent safe?
Team Xbox cause their controllers are always on sale for $40 plus a rechargeable battery pack for around $15 that usually has 2 batteries is still cheaper than a $70 PS controller that rarely goes on sale. 2 Xbox controllers for $80 plus a $15 battery pack is still a better deal than $140 for 2 PS controllers.
The batteries in PS4 controllers last like 4 maybe 5 hours at best. And its annoying as hell that they only included like a foot and a half cable. So if your controller died you either have to stop your game while it charges or else have to sit right up on top of the screen. Neither of which is fun and practical. The batteries Microsoft includes last forever and when they do finally die its like a 2 minute process, assuming you have some on hand, to swap them out and immediately get back to gaming. I 100% prefer batteries. I do use rechargeables but the long life ones and I know it will be annoying if it dies i will have to be plugged into the wall for a bit.
I hear xbox players always saying how great it is that they can use dispoasable batteries because its cheaper but at the end of the day its not. You have to pay 60-70 euros for the xbox controller that doesnt even come with a rechargable battery pack or cable which is about and then you have to pay another 15-20 for rechargable batteries and a charging pack for them which is another 20 euros so overall you are spending 90 euros for a controller. Eventually these batteries will die anyway so you will spend nearly more money on them than just buying another controller or 2 controllers and xbdrones are always saying the ds4 only lasts 4-5 hours, which is a comlete bullshit as I can get a full day of gaming without ever having to charge.

Also you forget that having disposable batteries allows customers to buy customized controllers on the Xbox design lab.
You are extremely biased to Xbox.
replace your phone rechargeable battery with AA batteries.😂😂😂
Non proprietary AA rechargeable batteries that are available everywhere, and will be available for decades.
Hey i don't know if you read this or not , but can you please help me i am struggling to choose which is best for me . I just want to play games on my ipad with controller and it don't matter if its wireless or uses type c . And how can i use it to last long and i don't have money to buy the console 😂
Well at least if you have a charger for the controller it still works because for vr users if you don’t have batteries means no playing you’re basically paying a weekly subscription to have your controllers working
I'm so glad that Xbox doesn't use those rechargeable batteries inside the controller.
I actually like having different choices when it comes to battery packs from Power A , Microsoft, PDP Gaming. I never tried rechargeable AA batteries but have used Duracell batteries for my Xbox controller and they are decent for 40 hours give or take.
I got a play and change kit for my Xbox controllers and you should get one too.
I know some kids that have a PS4 and they always manage to mess up the charging ports on the PS4 controller so batteries are better.
I have battery packs from a third-party. Thry plug into a USB port on the Xbox, so I'm always ready.
thats why you have a separate ps5 controller ready on charge
Buy 4 rechargeable batteries , charger, keep one pair fully charged in drawer and when batteries in controller are empty i just put new ones in in less then 15 seconds and put old in charger . Like this you can never run out of juice . But i get it that someone like just plug in and charge
Still have my original ps5 controller. One one has broke bc the thumbsticks and x button were compressed for 3 days during a move
I would rather pick up disposable batteries tell the end of time, and will do so.
You type pretty well and clean. I am so proud to read all you have wrotten. And I agree with ya, just the Xbox One controllers are so noisy... I
I've got mine already since last year.
Short answer? so you will have to pay for the elite controller or the overpriced rechargeable kit. it has nothing to do with any points you mentioned.
this video is only valid for people that never heard of something called "USB Power Bank"
xbox controller is still suck, even it has usb port, but it wont let you charge AA NIMH battery
I own it and still want to buy rechargeable battery kit to save my money to waste by buying disposable battery
What if i dont want to buy batteries every two weeks , this guy just glazes nonstop xbox
I prefer AA set up!
My ps3 controller is still going strong after all these years. not a penny spent on batteries.
don't be dumb, with the play and charge kit ,in a few years you'll be happy you don't need a screwdriver to change the battery.
Im using PS5 controller for 2 years on my PC. And always felt sorry for not choosing Xbox, so today I bought for my wife an xbox one and when I open the package I couldnt belive what I see 😂😂😂😂..Sticking to ps5 joystick...Like wtf is this...AA batterys in wirelles joystick? Like Il buy every 2 days new?
I’ve never had a Sony battery fail on me, so I think the quality is decent, it’s very likely that you will have some other issues with the controller long before the battery has degraded to unusable status. Most commonly the dreaded stick drift will get you.
Buyers beware!!!!!! The xbox controller input jack for usbc is so fragile!!!!!!! If you plug in your controller most of the time in game rather than using useless batteries, this jack, wears out and breaks down so easily!!!!! I've gone through so many controllers uuggghhhhh why did they go with usbc, it's so flimsy !!!! Help?????
It's cool if they did not include rechargable batteries but then should have decreased the price. This is nothing but greed; exactly what Apple does in the name of the environment.
I used AA rechargeable batteries
This is stupid, they should have included the rechargeable battery pack by default
If were really bothered about the planet, they would let the controller charge rechargeable AAs instead of the low mah xbox branded battery.
Homie showed off a BASE ps4 and not the pro 😨😨😨
Bc they give us the choice
AA batteries are better
My answer before I watched this is MONEY!!!
The xbox needs 2 AA 1.5 volts so not any rechargeable battery will not work
I just buy a 20 pack disposable battery pack for the xbox lol.
This just reminded me never to get an xbox
I’m getting 5his for my Xbox 4Gamers XBOX Dual Rechargeable Battery
My PS5 controller battery last all day... Don't know about you
My Xbox controller can last as long as I want. Because I can just switch out the rechargeables.
The ps5 controller is way better than the ps4 controller in terms of battery life,I don’t charge mine as much as I did on ps4 but that’s just my experience
PS5 battery drain is pretty damn bad
just buy a battery pack - then you have the option
rechargeable AAs or wired is my cheap options instead of trash battery pack
@superplayers Did you hire somebody for the voiceovers ? Coming from the Spanish channel ..lol 😂
Yes, we did.
@@superplayers_ klk papa saludos desde errede jeje un abrazo hermano , suscrito a ambos compatriota ,contenido de calidad muuuy profesional ...
.ost powerful console with no nvme. Sony for the win.
Disposable batteries at this age is a disgusting idea adamant attitude of Microsoft
Cause in 2027 every electronic device will need to have batteries replaceable thanks EU
so after 2 years you throw away your controller?
Yup I know 😢
i prefer having the option either battery pack och AAs.. my ps4 controllers got really bad battery time after a while and its a pain to change them
That’s why I am planning to buy Xbox controller instead of PS4/PS5 controller. I’ll buy recharge batteries and when they degrade I’ll buy new ones and I don’t need to tear controller apart for stupid battery change.
@@Nameisnotimportant yea my ps4 controllers got like 3 hours of power in them after not that long and takes 1 hour to recharge lmao, cheapest possible AAs last 35-40 hours in the xbox controller and then you have like eneloop pro rechargeables etc which will hold good battery time for years and years
@@ShimithDomencio and even if they don’t hold charge for years you can easily swap them out for new ones.
My battery I'm a PS4 not anymore where to buy new PS4 controller the voltage of the battery is gone finding my PlayStation I want straight to Xbox you can put batteries in the Xbox last 10 years places controllers won't last 10 years the battery would go
PS5 is King baby😂
Degradable battery in PS controller (PS4, at least) is a myth. I have it from 2018 and no changes noticed. How many batteries should I have bought?
They let u use rechargeable
I know inbuilt batteries degrade over time, but it takes years to notice any change.also even a kid can open PS5 controller and replace the battery. no need to throw it.
Also Xbox people you are gonna buy batteries for the rest of your life?? Its both waste of money and no good for environment
You say no, i buy rechargeable batteries and charger blah blah for extra money. sony provides it in the controller with a bunch of many features like adaptive triggers, inbuilt mic, trackpad, gyro etc for like same price.
I am not saying x box controller is shit but it should cost half of the price
Xbox should give their Plug and Charge Kit bundled with the controller.
If the battery degrades we can buy a new kit or use AAs
The current pricing is flawed.
Ideal case, price of (PS5 controller) = price of (Xbox Series Controller + Plug and Play)
I still own a ps3 controller 1st opened in 2010
And it still charged moderately well when compared to its age
I've gone through a few ps3 and 4 controllers and they lose their charge over time and you can't fully charge them.
@@Spartan_83 Then i may be extremely lucky ive never had that happen
Ps controllers battery life is terrible
That's annoying. Have to pull out all those batteries and charge like old school is just too much work.
touch grass"
Life changing isn't it? :)
Just use rechargeable AA batteries. Debate over.
wow what a non video, 10 minutes blah blah about the difference between disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries.
Spoiler alert, the X Box controler lets you more easily replace rechargeable batteries, and they generally last longer.
PS5. Wireless controller. No batteries. Charges fast. Haptic Feedback. The controller itself is better than the entire new Xbox console. Not to mention other than Gears Starfield Hellblade and Halo Xbox has no good exclusives and most of gamepass is old ass games. Xbox sucks ass
Insane glaze
