    Get a Gibbs minnow (Canadian Tire) for trout fishing .it's my go to if your spin rod fishing . If your fly fishing use a muddler minnow also at CT .

    Hello, Mr. Cumberland;
    I've always really liked Kelly & Jersey heads, I've got an old Council Tool head (?) I need to hang. (3-1/2lb, I think.)
    I'm 69 & I've hung a few axes & hatchets over the yrs.
    One thing I always try to do is move displaced metal back where it came from.
    I'll use a ball pein, engineer's, or a machinist's hammer & tap (pound, if it's bad) the beat out steel to move it back where it's supposed to be.
    I think it looks better (not rounded or gouged) & it keeps the head from 'losing weight'.
    BTW, I've got a Surform tool for roughing in & a Japanese SHINTO Saw Rasp Size L for finer work.
    'Course, a spokeshave is faster for final shaping & finishing.
    I saved some handle pieces (from old handles) & use them to drive old & new handles out of the head.
    You did really good in competition, Rod, (hope you don't mind my calling Rod) but ya' may want to let the young fellas have it.
    You prolly know the old saying, there's a time to act your age, if ya' know what I mean.
    Good to see ya', again.

      You are much better and have far more patience than I when it comes to re-shaping an axe head - but your points are well taken, and you are very correct - it is far better to put it back where it goes than to just get rid of it. Good on ya. Don't mind using the name at all.....I guess I just figure everyone knows it - my website has it all over it. Thanks a lot for sharing, and for the advice. We are never too old to learn...and is the whole reason I do this.

    Hi Rod, what number of grit are you using for the belt?
