0:00 - You are chipping away pieces from the tower. 0:27 - The tower falls, dropping the bell. You bend down and pick it up. 0:36 - You run through the model village, reminding yourself the directions you need to take in order to reach back home. 0:44 - You reach the pub and the bartender starts chasing you. 0:53 - The man at the entrance of the pub forces you to turn around and go through the passageway under the pub floor. 1:02 - You escaped the pub, but a gate was blocking your way. You now have to take your chances with the woman artist. But you realized the table was fixed. 1:17 - The woman has your bell, but you wasted no time pulling the drawer out of the table, causing it to break and form a ramp. You attempt to snatch the bell... 1:23 - You snatched the bell from the woman's hands and you walk over the fence with the ramp. 1:31 - You ran into the man next door and the fence was patched up. You now made a turnabout to move the man out of the way and run out his gate. 1:47 - You run down the alley. 2:00 - You catch your breath. 2:18 - You walk into the street and no one seems to be around. You slowly walked... 2:28 - The woman that was in the TV shop spotted you! Even the shopkeeper started chasing you. 3:03 - You are slowly getting to the garden! 3:08 - You honk at the boy to move him out of the way. 3:12 - You successfully escaped from the street. But the groundskeeper is blocking your final path to freedom! Or was it really the final path? 3:19 - The groundskeeper noticed you were heading for the hole in the bush! You ran through the small hole and straight to the river! 3:43 - You walk back to your home... and drop the bell there... Your adventure is now completed...
Some comments are already deleted, but in my opinion this one seems easier than most of the Chopin Etudes. It is not that long, easier to practice (not many scales, more jumps) ... but finding a good Phrasing, because of the „weird“ melody, you definitely need a really good teacher. But sure, this is more a piece for virtuose Concert Piansts, than for „normal pianists“
What's impressionistic anyway? Debussy wasn't an impressionist, the whole term was just introduced because France needed French music as opposed to German music, and Debussy was one of those rare French composers that hadn't been influenced by too much German music (except for the huge influence Bach and Wagner had on him of course)
@@fatcontroller12 let me rephrase that for you: Debussy wasn't an impressionist because impressionism doesn't exist in music, and if we were comparing terms, Debussy would not fall in the definition of impressionism whatsoever.
@@TomSistermans "I am trying to do 'something different' - an effect of reality ... what the imbeciles call *'impressionism',* a term which is as poorly used as possible, particularly by the critics, since they do not hesitate to apply it to [J.M.W.] Turner, the finest creator of mysterious effects in all the world of art." -Claude Debussy, in a letter he wrote to his publisher in 1908 (emphasis added)
Oh, oh.... As they say in Spanish, "metió la pata," (although it would be more appropriate in this case to say "metió la mano," even though the expression doesn't exist to convey the meaning of "metió la pata,") big time, at 3:20 with those chromatic chords, LOL! But it's a live performance, it can happen, but it's a shame it happened during such a climax!

How recent? He died in 1972!
About 3 years ago. It says performance by Hamelin. He's still alive.
The closest Debussy ever got to Ligeti?
Lot better
Serenade brought me here

Me too
theme of an adventurous goose
This is my favorite prelude by Debussy!
To this day, I haven't found a performance that I like more than the one by Pascal Rogé.
1:47 - 1:59 I love this part of this brilliant piece

The beautiful miniature golden bell

Heaven in my mind is fulled with Debussy,s works and Hamelin,,s incomparable performance . 🍎
Limmy bought me here. But I like anything classical and I haven't listened to enough Debussy in my life so far, so it's all good.
