The name of the world line where okabe saves kurisu and the world is called steins gate. That's why his future self says it's meaningless. Aight... heres my clarification that I've known so far on why Okabe needed to fail at the first place to how the video message worked (please correct me if I'm wrong) : 1. Okabe from the 1st Episode is supposed to see Makise Kurisu dead in order to see the video message that was sent in that time. So Okabe from that episode already can see the video message after that event but was shifted in to another worldline because of his 1st D-Mail. 2. Okabe needs to fail at episode 24 so that Future Okabe exists and can send the video to the pass. I believe that there timelines are already shifting to different Futures but Future Okabe can never go to Steins Gate WL nor rewrite his pass self anymore with his reading Steiner because of the video message that Future Daru sended to Beta Suzuha from 0. 3. Of all the 3 Observers. This Okabe is the only one who can enter Steins Gate.
So glad to see shane back! Also, im glad Aaron figured out that the reason they needed to make it seem like she was ded is so that the past Okabe goes on to send his first D-mail so that the whole story of the show can unfold once again on that world line, leading to that okarin eventually getting to this same point. Its so cool that literally everything in the show happened for a reason, and if you think about it, its all been planned out by future Okabe so that they could land in a good world line. Hes a genius man.
This is the best episode to watched the subbed version. The lines at the end were lost in translation. Also if you look back to the title of the first episode, it is The Prologue of the Beginning and the End.
This is the first time I watched this episode after S;G0 and I did get a little teary-eyed remembering everything future Okabe went through. Future Okabe doesn't rescue Kurisu himself, even though he absolutely could try, because he doesn't have enough faith in himself anymore. He's been irrecoverably changed. He wants his past self to have no memories of WW3 and sacrifices himself for that dream. Plus, he has a couple of other people to rescue. Best leave Kurisu to his past self.
If you go back and watch the first episode you pick up on a lot of things they show you happening in this one. Pretty cool how everything was planned from the start.
From what I get about reading steiner is that everyone has the ability to a much lesser degree than Okabe. The people around Okabe realize the difference between worldlines because he forces them into remembering. People who feel like they're going through deja vu are possibly experiencing memories from another worldline
15:29 Future Okabe can't do shit because in his timeline the Organization owns and controls all time machines. They barely managed so send Suzuha back in time with the time machine her father had made in secret, with the mission to save Kurisu and put past-Okabe on the path to Steins Gate. Future Okabe's timeline is already fucked, therre's no hope for him. He has basically given everything to "make" a timeline where some version of him can be happy with the girl he loves.
It's still a happy ending though, right? Because since only one world line can be active at a time, and all others are just possibilities waiting to happen, future okabe's memories still fuse with present okabe's once his deception is successful right? or am i getting that wrong
I’m leaving this here as the “Steins;Gate 0 thread.” Personally, I enjoyed S;G 0, but I’m indifferent on whether or not they watch it. I’m curious though: I understood why there was so much controversy on whether or not to watch the S;G 0 version of this episode, but what’s up with the new Steins;Gate 0 controversy? From what I understand, there are 3 [or 4] “factions” in the comments section: 1 - You guys probably should watch S;G 0 after finishing Steins;Gate. I think I understand this opinion as S;G 0 is somewhat of a counterfactual sequel series to Steins;Gate so it makes sense to watch it afterwards. 1B - These are the extremists: S;G 0 ABSOLUTELY MUST be watched after Steins;Gate because it’s basically season 2. This is just the radical version of the first one up there☝️. 2 - We’re indifferent. Put it on a poll. If it wins, it wins: Steins;Gate and S;G 0 should not be considered related in that way. (I think I’m in this second faction, but am a non-radical first faction sympathizer.) 3 - Do not watch S;G 0 at all. I really don’t understand this one. Like I know S;G 0 isn’t as good as Steins;Gate (how could it be?), but does that make it actually bad? It seems people are overreacting. Like, I don’t think S;G 0 actively makes Steins;Gate worse somehow. Does it? It just sort of fills in some gaps in the original series doesn’t it? So, third faction, why SHOULDN’T they watch S;G 0? Can you give us a reason more than it’s not as good as Steins;Gate? I just do not particularly understand why it gets the hate it does. First faction, is there a reason that not watching S;G 0 would be so disappointing? And, second faction? Help us keep it peaceful, okay? Is there any chance the three factions could start a civil discussion in the replies below?
Steins Gate is my favourite anime, but I've never watched S;G-0 (3rd Faction?). To me, the original series concluded in a satisfying way that I honestly don't feel that any "sequel" is required. All loose ends are tied up, and anything added on just feels superfluous. If I do end up watching S;G-0 I wonder if I would even see it as part of the OG series, or as some spin off.
@@decoinferno sg0 is not really a sequel but i have to assume you know when sg0 takes place and imo it makes the true ending of Steins;Gate even more cathartic
Alcert I really hate that I’m about to compare these two series, but I think of Steins;Gate and S;G 0 as something like the Aincrad and Phantom Bullet arcs from Sword Art Online. I don’t want to spoil S;G 0 for you, because I do think it’s at least worth checking out the first few episodes. Here’s what I mean: In Phantom Bullet, Kirito has dealt with Aincrad and R*pe Elf already and the threat this time is something along the lines of dying in real life. It’s a similar issue and it definitely is influenced by previous arcs, but in such a way that it is still something new and refreshing. It’s definitely NOT a spin-off as it deals with the direct characters and character decisions and it cannot be watched without watching the original. Maybe side-story is a better term for what S;G 0 is. It expands the universe and answers some of the many, many questions in a way that does not detract from the original show in any way.
I personally loved steins gate 0, but the most common thing I saw people complain about was the fact that a lot of the characters had different personalities, which makes sense because of the circumstances that they’re in. It’s not like it’s unreasonable for them to act different, everyone is a lot more depressed. Some other reasons were because of the animation on 1 or 2 of the later episodes and the unrealistic way that suzuha got out of the situation (it didn’t bother me that much, but I can understand why others may have an issue with). This one isn’t as common, because we already know the outcome before we begin the story. Another was kagaris character. Many saw it as a discount kurisu. And also, many thought zero was a cash grab. There are plenty of other things I’ve seen people not like about 0 but personally feel they were nitpicking
Once you guys watch the next episode, please watch the OVA (episode 25) if you weren't planing to already. It's the perfect wrap up to this story in my opinion. I know a couple people who have skipped it thinking it was just an OVA and didn't matter to the story but this one is different. I'd hate to see you guys miss out one a fantastic conclusion.
This is the time where we see the upgrade of DMail. Now it's D-VideoMail. Reminder that Timelines can only be changed via DMails, and we just witnessed it in action from the recipient pov.
The Okabe that sent him that message is from a different worldline, that's why he can't go back and save her. He's from a worldline where she dies and can't be saved. The D-mail always goes between different worldlines, so he sent it to a different one since his time is doomed.
Additional thing that won't be explained in the anime next episode: Suzuha's time machine changes the word line slightly when it travels back in time which is why there won't be 3 Okabes next time
The 0 timeline is where he watches the video but decides not to throw caution to the wind, like he does in this episode, leading to his creation of the video. Other stuff happens that would be spoilery. That's as much as I can tell you without spoiling it.
> The 0 timeline is where he watches the video but decides not to throw caution to the wind That's plain wrong. In 0, the video doesn't exist yet. That's why Suzuha doesn't say anything about it. She has no idea how to reach Steins Gate. There's no Operation Skuld. That's exactly the premise of 0.
I hope you guys watch it in this order soon: Steins;Gate (24 episodes) -> Steins;Gate OVA (Egoistic Poriomania) -> Movie (Load Region of Déjà Vu), then Steins;Gate Episode 23 β (Divide by Zero) -> Steins;Gate 0 -> Steins;Gate 0 OVA (Polymorphic Valentinus). Take note: You can skip both Egoistic Poriomania and the movie as those aren't based on the visual novel (original source), it was created originally by the anime staff to extend the story.

2 - We’re indifferent. Put it on a poll. If it wins, it wins: Steins;Gate and S;G 0 should not be considered related in that way. (I think I’m in this second faction, but am a non-radical first faction sympathizer.)
3 - Do not watch S;G 0 at all.

I really hate that I’m about to compare these two series, but I think of Steins;Gate and S;G 0 as something like the Aincrad and Phantom Bullet arcs from Sword Art Online.
If anyone has anything that’s reasonable to dislike 0, feel free to add
steins gate: *show guns*
everyone: *AAAAHHHHHH*
The part that you confused about C-204 is that it's the name of time travel device, while worldlines are alpha, beta, and Stein's;Gate.
Just here for shane. Stay strong man. ❤️
SO SO glad to see you back shane!
shane! good to see u back!~
I'm gonna need you to watch Steins;Gate 0 next. How much money do I need to donate lol
I somehow had no idea you guys were reacting to this 😂 Now I gotta go back and binge
I’m so glad you’re back, Shane!
Hey there Shane, welcome back!
Shane's back!!! Time to vote for Gurren Lagann once the poll comes back!! Shane will be hyped!
Wasnt the video D-mails simply ND-mails?? Might be remembering wrong though
Shaaaaaane! XD Good to see you!
SHANNNNEEEE
This episode becomes 100x more satisfying after s2
i just finished binge-watching all of the steins;gate series. Yeah this is now resting comfortably in my no.2 best anime spot
The Okabe that sent him that message is from a different worldline, that's why he can't go back and save her.
He's from a worldline where she dies and can't be saved. The D-mail always goes between different worldlines, so he sent it to a different one since his time is doomed.
Im glad youre reacting to a masterpiece such as Steins Gate but I'm even more glad to see Shane :)
Glad to see your back Shane!!!!!
Holy damn! I saw your reaction series and got sad when I saw you didn’t finish it so I subbed to the channel. After a minute I got this notification
Damn this show is so great, watched it so many times over the years and it still holds up!
glad to see shane
I'm literally just too hyped. This is an iconic episode.
If Eric was impressed by the causality of the Mayuri slap now he'll be even more impressed when he learns how significant it is in relation to S;G 0
As seen in sg0 that Okabe is an old man, he can’t do the things he needed to do to save her
Additional thing that won't be explained in the anime next episode: Suzuha's time machine changes the word line slightly when it travels back in time which is why there won't be 3 Okabes next time
The 0 timeline is where he watches the video but decides not to throw caution to the wind, like he does in this episode, leading to his creation of the video. Other stuff happens that would be spoilery. That's as much as I can tell you without spoiling it.
> The 0 timeline is where he watches the video but decides not to throw caution to the wind
That's plain wrong. In 0, the video doesn't exist yet. That's why Suzuha doesn't say anything about it. She has no idea how to reach Steins Gate. There's no Operation Skuld. That's exactly the premise of 0.
I hope you guys watch it in this order soon:
Steins;Gate (24 episodes) -> Steins;Gate OVA (Egoistic Poriomania) -> Movie (Load Region of Déjà Vu),
then
Steins;Gate Episode 23 β (Divide by Zero) -> Steins;Gate 0 -> Steins;Gate 0 OVA (Polymorphic Valentinus).
Take note: You can skip both Egoistic Poriomania and the movie as those aren't based on the visual novel (original source), it was created originally by the anime staff to extend the story.
Yes
oh shit zero has a movie too? this is news to me
@@dharmairmansyah2844 What makes you think I've mentioned Zero having a movie?
0:05
he gave us an extra wave
**squeals**
So I just watch all of this series and now I’m in love with it I neeed to know what happens next !!!!!
After watching Steins Gate 0. Watching this episode is MUCH MORE satisfying and fulfilling. Man this is a good anime.
You guys HAVE to react to the movie next. It's really touching and ties up the series pretty well, you guys would love it.
