      I know of men who left their jobs rather than "give there ex money" . After paying maintenance, theyd be not much better off than on the dole . They dont care that even though they might not be better off, at least their child wouldnt be in such poverty. A lot of these men actually think that child benefit is adequate..

      They call them " deadbeat dads ". And you are right because if they father helped out they would not necessarily be living in poverty.

      @shoti66 6 років тому +9

      who knows where the fathers are but what does it matter. They aren't there and these people, most of them, work full time jobs and can't get by. Thats the real issue here. That what was possible in the past is impossible now. All whilst the top 1% are literally gorging themselves on a tsunami of wealth. Wealth that they have, through the politicians that they've bought and the system they've corrupted using that enormous wealth, stolen from these people. Because in the last forty years productivity and pay have been decoupled. Working more or harder does not translate into more pay.
      And as for the fathers. What's better? To have a potentially abusive male there taking out their frustrations on a child due to feeling trapped or to not be there at all.

      Just because the father might be abusive, does not mean after he leaves the house he should not be financially responsible for his own children. Where the Government has failed is not going after these deadbeat fathers. The Government have their National Insurance numbers and Drivers License numbers. If these fathers will not pay voluntarily, the government should garnish a percentage from their pay packet. The taxpayers should not be sugar daddies, sorry. But in today's Britain they are.

    My children left home 20 years ago , I worked when I could throughout their childhood. I tried to be as industrious as possible, picking nettles , wild plums and rosehips to cook, freeze and dry. I washed all clothes and bedding by hand a lot of the time due to not having a fiver for the laundrette. My children didnt have birthday parties. No way could I afford to feed any extra children , doing that would mean a whole weeks food budget . We would have no food for six days if I spent it on a birthdaybparty . My heart is still broken because I couldnt look after them or support them properly. No birthdays was the least of what they suffered. They needed footy boots, indoor gym and outdoor gym apparel, 2 sets of uniforms each, every year. I just could do it. Occassionaly Id find some pieces second hand but they were hard to come by. One year One of my kids had an elastic band holding his sole onto his shoe because we couldnt afford money for glue. That was the day he came gome and asked "mum, are we poor?" . Lord knows what had hapoened to him at school that day to make him say that. I cried all the time over things like this.
    I was terrifyed of them bringing friends home , what if they all wanted a drink? What if they needed something to eat? Was I going to stop them getting something for their friend from the fridge? What exactly would I say? "Sorry, we cant afford to give you any thing" ? Yeah, that would go down well...imagine what would happen at school, theyd be shunned and teased for years to come. Poverty is hell. And they say money doesnt make you happy? BxxxxxxX

      I’m so sorry mum, I was one of those kids in America, my mom an immigrant made the most of it she had 5 of us, she couldn’t get help for us because my little sisters father passed away which left her the house. We ate her out of house and home with the friends we brought home. We didn’t know, lucky for us she worked at a restaurant and could bring home leftovers, she cooked from smart h but worked three jobs to keep the house over our heads. What we paid was never seeing our mom, she was never home longer than to change her clothes make a meal and head to the next job….sadly it seems the church loves babies but not mothers, especially those abandoned by the men who helped make them…someday i hope that everyone will hold the men equally responsible without having to chase and shame the mothers while the children suffer. Love to you from America 🇺🇸

    At least in the UK people realize that children need their parents. In the US, it's felt that any type of help, such as welfare
    payments is bad. Moms often work two jobs, kids hardly see their parent(s), and then society wonders why the kids are
    getting into trouble. Some school systems offer after school care, but it costs, so often children go home from
    school and are by themselves. Here the only important thing is to work, work, work. Taking care of children is work
    too!

      @LiamPorterFilms 6 років тому

      Madme Smith I know what you’re saying, but although they don’t help they really don’t necessarily hurt these unlucky people by increasing their banks’ assets. A thriving banking industry has made English consumer banking much cheaper than in our neighboring countries, where monthly fees are standard. What I’m saying is that it’s not as if what the banks make, these families lose.

    • @madmesmith5187
      @madmesmith5187 6 років тому

      I'm talking about a living wage, not to just get by from payday to payday (which is what the banks want so they can make money off you when you have to use your credit card), To be able to live and grow, that my dream for the british people. It not just the bankers that are greedy its the CEO that take more than there fair share, i know its a sign of the times to clime the ladder and to reach the max wage, but they do it at the expense of the rest of us one mans gain is another's lose. p.s banks are for profit not for sharing the wealth :(

    • @LiamPorterFilms
      @LiamPorterFilms 6 років тому

      Madme Smith that’s the thing though the banks don’t take money away from us by making it themselves, anymore than you take money from me however much you make in your job, At least, the banks do not make money from us unless they’re making it off a loan we took from them, and that’s not the case for these unlucky people

      They do and if necessary they'll take money from benefits as well ! 4 those not in the know you might even see men hanging themselves or committing suicide through the treatment they get when they haven't enough 2 live on ! Some aren't even allowed 2 see their own bairns in some of the strangest and punishing rules that take the right away 4 men that's of decent character 2 see their bairns ! It's not always the fathers that cause or create these situations ! Anywa I've had enough the country's going backwards but 1 things certain as a marra of mine was seriously ill said b4 he died was ,no1 escapes but at least it doesn't go on 4ever ! If the mothers get childcare/maintenance from the childrend fathers, they get that amount deducted from their benefits. The dads will be poorer and the kids household will have no extra income,. This often ruins the poorer fathers, leaving them with nothing to give the kids when they visit. My kids dad refused to have them at weekends unless I gave him £20 to pay for their food expenses. He thought Child benefit was enough to support the children and also didnt believe I wasnt getting to keep a penny of his money .

    If a company is not paying their staff enough to live on to the point where their staff are on government assistance (NOT for any other issues such as single parents requiring childcare benefits or disabled people requiring additional funds etc) just to make basic payments for food, shelter, and heating - WE as the taxpayers are PAYING their staff's wages so they can work at that company.
    That should be illegal.
    Likewise, companies should be ineligable for ANY tax break, benefit or support if ANY of their staff is on benefits (aside from the supplemental ones i listed above).

    single males have little to no support network and are expected to be strong and capable , and if you lack a role model as you grow up or have mental issues or simply not a strong person with a number of personal worries you are expected to keep it to yourself, it,s easy to blame absent fathers for all the wrongs in a broken relationship, but not so easy to offer help and advice.
