- The Department of Justice sued Apple on Thursday, saying its iPhone ecosystem is a monopoly that drove its “astronomical valuation” at the expense of consumers, developers and rival phone makers.
Federal antitrust enforcement and 16 attorneys general also say that Apple’s anti-competitive practices extend beyond the iPhone and Apple Watch businesses, citing Apple’s advertising, browser, FaceTime and news offerings.
Apple said in a statement that it disagreed with the premise of the lawsuit and that it would defend against it. Attorney General Merrick Garland holds a news conference to make an antitrust announcement following Apple lawsuit.

I work at a phone repair shop, and I can tell you apple is the only company that if one of their parts fails or breaks, you have no choice but to pay apple $600 to repair a $5 part. And if you do repair it for what it ACTUALLY costs, they disable multiple features or your phone. That alone should be illegal.
I've repaired a MacBookPro myself and it was a nightmare. It took days to repair the thing. Basically the flimsy and fragile screen broke while the laptop was closed. I had to remove a million tiny black screws. I did repair and even upgraded a Dell laptop running Linux in much less time and hassle. I am phasing out my MacBookPro soon and moving back to good ol Dell Linux.
Also, my MacBookPro battery life was atrocious compared to the Dell Linux. 30-60 minutes vs 4 hours. When I got it, Apple claimed the battery life was like 26 hours, which is past the official record held by Dell at the time (~12 hours). I am also getting popups from Apple alerting that they are terminating support for my third party audio capture and to "contact the developers." I'm going to aim at Apple, not the developers for this.
True but for whatever reason fixing my pixel is always 300$ which is almost what I buy them for with Google deals😅

I agree. I prefer the Samsung ultra phones but hate all other Samsung devices. I only use the iPhone because messaging is better with friends, and I love the Apple watch if it were my choice to use an apple watch with an s24 ultra.
Hope apple faces more issue no other company has had such predatory business practices.

I bought apple a couple weeks ago, saw it go down almost immediately, then yesterday after interest rates stayed the same, went up, now back down. Pretty clear they are doing that.

I hope this is just the beginning of aligning tech with the rest of the economic universe. Regulate, regulate, regulate. And I am a Republican. Regulate tech like anything else.
The fact that for HomeKit to work from my watch I suddenly have to have a HomePod is wild. They have just taken things way too far. The developer fees are also really messed up. That has to stop on Android too. As user of Apple products I have so many issue with a lot of the things they do. I think at some point there need to be open standards behind some functions in tech. This fragmented stuff is not helping consumers and will eventually play into the hands of very few companies.
This is actually a direct result of Tim Cook’s inability to innovate. Tim came to Apple from Compaq where he was predominately involved with materials. He is a supply chain process guy. If they had installed an engineer or a design visionary as CEO to replace Steve, Apple would have not had this problem. They simply would’ve just leapfrog through these technologies and create a whole new architecture.
Steve also would never have allowed for anything deemed sloppy second-class technology in the firms products. products.
Also, Steve understood how to make something that was proprietary work with and compete with other platforms.
It is just too obvious that they are manipulating the stock market. I wonder just how many shorts are going right now.

I want to know why the DOJ for the last decade REFUSES to do anything about the protection rackets mostly broadcast in on DIRECTIONAL SPEAKERS and voice over power line communications where ac motors are used as speakers via the smart meter, broadcast into our vehicles via satellite communications, live-streaming via cellular or internet service? Why is the number one crime problem that affects the public being ignored by the DOJ? It is so LOUD in my house it causes my dog to bark. Why is it that the Federal Government says “we want them all out?” Instead of arresting the perpetrators for running protection rackets from their home computers and pretending to be enforcing laws. I don’t know anyone who does drugs, but everyone I know going back to the 1960’s is a victim of protection racket(s). The victim could be a victim of 10 or 20 protection rackets simultaneously as the hitmen and “friends and family plan” try to take over the protection rackets.

I am phasing out my MacBookPro. I got it as a gift a few years ago. It's battery life is atrocious and so many essential propriety apps crash randomly. I needed to download a *third party* app to do audio capture, which is buggy thanks to Apple's clunky audio system. And now I am getting annoying popups warning that Apple will terminate support for the audio capture app and to "contact the developer". It is also a nightmare to hardware fix because of Apple's deliberate hard to repair design. The screen is also so fragile and flimsy and I spent days repairing the thing. I used Linux before and now I am switching back because it was the best. I had enough of this. Apple does not have the right to dictate what I can and cannot do. I will never buy another MacBookPro again. I am also considering phasing out my iPhone.

I think they will be fined billions this time like in the EU recently. Maybe even tens of billions, which would hurt Apple enough.

Easiest just apply Apple products to your car and how you'd love to install any passenger or luggage and have them move on at any point to other transportation, but wait you couldn't.

Only apple charges 400-600 to fix a broken FaceID cable or fingerprint scanner. It's a $3.75 part. On any samsung, oh your fingerprint reader got broken when you dropped your phone? Use any aftermarket part and it'll work again!
All this talk about global warming and carbon footprints yet apple makes their phones as non repairable as possible.

You are missing the huge picture, one of the main issues is Apple restricting compability with non-apple devices. Apple dont like competition so anyone without one can't share certain things with iphone users.. Apple only believes in APPLE to Apple Products its own eco system. Other tech companies are guilty of this same BS
