I love it when the owners/custodians of these great estates talk about the history not just about the house themselves, but about their family history. It's so wonderful to hear Lord Montagu of Beaulieu talk about his family history.
Yet another brilliant insight into a beautiful, historic House and what a privilege to be able to drive the 1903 De Dion Bouton car with the current Lord Montagu at your side. I look forward to the next instalment...
Wikipedia Lord Montagu, born 1961, is a graphic designer and the Head of Heritage Radio at Radio Times. He is credited as a co-producer of Lord Montagu a documentary about his father, and a series of short films about the stars of the TV comedy series Dad's Army
I wonder if you truly understand how privileged you were to have been allowed to drive that antique vehicle! You had every right to be nervous as those vehicles are worth thousands and thousands of dollars. I think you carried off this whole segment with a lot of humility. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos...
The exterior is breathtaking..just as much as the interior. The stain glass Windows and fireplacrs esp wonderful...the library Door fantastic.a kind and gracious owner and a Beautiful Place.
Julie ... when you were driving the 1903 car, it reminded me so much of the scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when Truly and Mr. Potts almost collide, sending Truly into the water. Please ask Luke how many times did he watch that movie with the flying car during childhood too? .... Stately home tour with a vintage car museum ..great episode.. What year is the gorgeous turquois Corvette? I hope it stole the show at the museum!
Thank you for allowing us to see these homes and learn about them in such authentic detail. This kind of presentation takes considerable time in the planning and execution. Congratulations on the success of your channel from another Daughter of Illinois.
Free energy. Radium heat. Tartarian like. Power plants ? We had our own power plant back then ? Yep. Those cars are like never before seen. Big beautiful house. ! What a wonderful place !
I just got addicted to these documentaries from Lady Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke. Great entertainment, and with great history details. Especially to re-visit all the places I have been to! I visited this place on 9.12.2017, celebrating the Christmas there! Thank you!
That was absolutely fascinating and entertaining, I have never heard a De Dion Bouton run up until now. I only learnt about the history of The Spirit of Ecstasy about 4 days ago and now I have seen the progeny of a person that traces his lineage back to that epoch.
Go Julie!))) You are SO Funny!)))) What a Fabulous episode. I was full of such Excitement and Fear for you while you were getting to experience driving that car with such happy whimsical music playing. I couldn’t stop smiling with happiness and shock for you.))))lololol You Go Girl!)))) Lots of Love from across the pond Jacqueline
Oh what a joy of driving that vehicle! Thanks btw, for the live today about Queen Elizabeth. So sad the she passed, but she’s been reunited with Philip. An idea that would be awesome…please find some one to do a montage of her hats…I would also love to see a display of her hats at the Tower of London. They’ve always been amazing. Thank you Viscountess.
Beaulieu is absolutely stunning! So much history! I love the formal dining room, the stained glass windows, just everything! Thank you for sharing this lovely home!!!!! Love your outfit Julie! Thank you to the camera person, also! Great job!

I recently started watching your channels. I live in Virginia and my jaw dropped when I heard in this video that the Montagu family is related to the Buccleuchs. I'm a Buccleuch descendant! So neat! I'll be catching up on all your past videos to learn more!
How funny! I enjoyed the video very much! The little car was so adorable. Lord Montagu was very informative and so pleasant. It was as though the two of you were old friends. It must have been so much fun doing the interview. Great job!
Hi Julie, Another great show. I was listening at first and was thinking Luke was there with you! Of course, then realized that Lord Montague was speaking and how much his voice was like your Luke in intonation, manner of speech and “dry” humour. Then saw Montague name and realized they are parts of that family. So interesting. Thanks!
Hey Julie, truly amazing history of your husbands/now your family really is, the house is just stunning, and the cars are beautiful not bad for your first test drive. Lord Montagu seems like such a delightful and funny man, looking forward to part two. Love from NY.

How great was this? I was worried along with you when you were driving that priceless car. You did a wonderful job. Thank you for showing us this beautiful home. Looking forward to the second half of this visit!
I have said this before, but as your videos get even better, I'll have to say it again, that was the best video on the channel. I have no interest in cars, but goodness, how I envy you driving that vintage one!
Many heartfelt thanks for your hard work and commitment to the projects you share with us on youtube. Apart from being beneficial to keep Mapperton going, your channels contribute to keep British cultural history alive and gives us an insight in modern rural life. (Julie, I'm sure with time you'll beat your fear of cowes). The mixture of American pragmatism and British humor make the episodes much fun to watch. (On this episode: when I close my eyes it is as if I hear Luke's voice when Lord Montagu is speaking). Loved watching the episode (like all the others). Hug from Girona.
So rewarding to experience the beautiful and welcoming interiors of this grand, famous estate, especially after having viewed several fascinating documentaries concerning the lord's inspiring, admirable father.
Delightful! I’m catching up on your videos as I have been obsessively watching everything about the Royal Family for over two weeks. This was refreshing and fun. I always have mixed emotions about the old abbeys and monasteries taken over by Henry VIII but we would not be seeing these magnificent estates otherwise. As usual you were awesome, Julie. I admire your style and hands on approach to everything that comes your way. Thank you.

Handled driving that like a Pro Julie! Watching seemed almost like learning to drive on a 3 speed clutch, on the steering column, lol! Excellent video! 💕
I love it when the owners/custodians of these great estates talk about the history not just about the house themselves, but about their family history. It's so wonderful to hear Lord Montagu of Beaulieu talk about his family history.
He's the best teacher/ host I've ever seen, Great fun!
Looks like Mr.Toad's car from Wind in the Willows! Love it!

I met him while visiting the automobile museum, delightful man, but felt sorry for what he must have endured with such an infamous father.
Lord M. seems to be such a nice gentelman with a calm personality and a soothing voice. It's a pleasure to listen to his stories.
Julie you are doing such a wonderful job showing us these magnificent places. The people who let us into their homes Thank you so much too👏🏻🇺🇸♥️
Thank you for subbing and watching!
Historic houses and historic automobiles a great combination !
All I could think about was chitty chitty bang bang! How wonderful, good job driving.
Lord Montagu is a sweetheart. His manners toward Julie are precious. Hope to be a patron again soon Julie. ❤
Wow,,,THAT 🚗 car is gorgeous! You look perfect, head scarf and all...Reminds me of a Grace Kelly movie!
A patron, I’m happy to be watching from San Francisco, CA… loving your videos…
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The humor gene is strong in Montague family ☺️he reminded me so much of your husband Luke!
I have been waiting for this episode as a live a mile away. What struck me is how similar Luke and Ralph's voice are!
Me too! I also thought they had similar looks. I could tell there's a relation there!
I wonder if you truly understand how privileged you were to have been allowed to drive that antique vehicle! You had every right to be nervous as those vehicles are worth thousands and thousands of dollars.

I think it's a 1957 Chevy
It is!
The ‘57 didn’t change visually from the ‘56 C1 so the engine/transmission was the only change.
@@kathrynwitte3398 I just looked up the color...I think the 1957 color was called "Cascade Green "... I think only 550 were made. incredible!
I adore turquoise don’t you?
Great ! Julie, you are such a trooper ! The best 😍
Oh my, how much fun is that!

This video brought back so many memories! My parents and I visited Beaulieu and the motor museum during the summer of 1978.
Beaulieu is, indeed, a “beautiful place.” And how brave of you to drive that car. I would have been so nervous too.
That was absolutely fascinating and entertaining, I have never heard a De Dion Bouton run up until now.

Hello from New Jersey
Love it! I need to visit Beaulieu soon.
It’s mind boggling that the 1903 car still drives. It’s beautiful and looks very much like a horseless carriage.
What an amazing home !
I’m so excited bed early awake to see this lovely vlog Grazie Mille Julie Amore💖💖😍😍👌👌🌟
Interesting watching this having coincidentally just got back from a day there today.
Beautiful and so interesting!

That was wonderful 😁
This car reminds of an old tractor, is really beautiful by the way.
AA20 is such a very old (obviously) Hampshire registration plate number. Goodness knows what that would fetch at auction.
Love this video
Watching you drive that amazing vintage car was fantastic well done 👍
Thank you 👍
I think Lord Montague and Luke sound uncannily alike.
AA 20. Such fun you have Julie!!
Handled driving that like a Pro Julie! Watching seemed almost like learning to drive on a 3 speed clutch, on the steering column, lol! Excellent video! 💕
Hello from Maine !
Lord Montagu sounds a lot like your Luke!
did the crest on the stained glass window, have your family montagu crest on it?
You can do it👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
