    I met him after a concert in 2011.I couldn't get over how tiny he was!So cute!I told him I used to play guitar when I was a teen.He held my hand,looked right in my eyes & said "pick that guitar back up & start playing again,promise luv?"I was so touched I almost cried."I promise,Davy" was all I could get out!!He gave me the biggest grin!I'll never forget that....and I have started playing again.

    @GraceUnderPressure1 My wife and 3 children met him after a show on Long Island a few years back. We were the last on line for autographs. He spent about 10 minutes with us, playing with the kids and cracking jokes. He was very friendly and down to earth. We were amazed at how much so.

    I met davey twice once in 2009 then in 2011. I had the honor of him signing a cd for me and I met all 4 of his daughters who also singed The cd. I also met Peter and Mickey and they were all extremely nice to me. I wish I was older and truly understood who I met when I met them but I remember Davy and he remembered me when I met him a second time after my 8 year old self called him a jockey after he called out someone from going to the bathroom in my row. Thanks Davy you made part of my childhood. RIP

    I was so heart broken right at county job I broke down sobbing my 9th grade girl self came through with every memory of my undying love and admiration I pledged to him...then crash merging my grown up me older self and it didn't matter I kept sobbing...after work I went home pulled out my guitar and sang I "want to be free like the blue birds flying"...every word every chord came out perfect recall for my Davy...played a good hour then of course posted thoughts on Facebook and the two guitar show pages...prayers for his loving family...I still get teared up...Thank you for posting this clip...he was great right to end and beyond!! Memory Eternal and RIP...

    He called into a local radio show and I got a chance to speak. I told him that my cousin and I loved him growing up. He asked me if I was going to the show in a week or two. I told him I would have loved to but I just went to Ozzfest the night before. He says wow that's a big difference in music. That's great though. And that's how I got to see The Monkees after Smash Mouth remade I'm a Believer for Shrek and the first time I ever heard that version. I've been listening to the Monkees for 2 days and cannot get sick of them or their music. R.I.P. Davey Jones.

    OMG I have been watching Davy and the Monkees since they first started airing on TV in 1963. I would get my bath then cuddle up on the sofa to watch The Monkees. I fell in love with Davy Jones at age 3 and have always loved him as though he was my own family. I was devastated when I found out in 2012 he had passed away. Even though he was 66 years old that was still a young age to die.

      My daughter loved Davy @ a young age of 9🙂She wouldn’t miss one episode of the Monkees. We moved to Jefferson City, Mo. One night on my way home from work, I had my radio on. Then I heard Davy was doing a concert in @ the Hearnes in Columbia, Mo. It was close to her birthday and I stopped where they were selling the tickets. I kept them hidden till he was coming in. She screamed & cried. She had her picture made with her idol. Which I have now. She was murdered in 2009 @34. But now her idol is there to. Heaven I know is a beautiful place, but my heart still breaks till I’m with her again. But the picture of her & Davy brings me happiness & gives me so much joy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙂

Nobody's perfect, but he loved his fans and showed it as much as he could. I have a tattoo on my forearm of a doodle he drew on a picture for me the last time I saw him. P>S> I met Davy also!!! Such a down to earth great guy! I play tambourine..So I played it in the autograph line on t he last 2 songs!! Davy never took his eyes off of me!!!Some of the band member didn't either! When I reached Davy He asked me who had taught me how to play!! I said,:" I taught myself!!" HE said WOW GIRL YOU SURE ARE GOOD!!" I kept time right along with Davy WE were together on every beat!!! Sure wish I could of played a song or two onstage with him!!! But he didn't know I could play, either! I hoped he would of CAME BACK TO THE FAIR LATER, LIKE A COUPLE OF YEARS! i WOULD OF ASKED TO TALK TO HIM BACK STAGE & YOU CAN BET i WOULD OF BEEN UP THEIR ON THAT STAGE STANDING RIGHT BESIDE HIM PLAYING MY TAMBOURINE!!!!!!! But he never did!!! He signed my tambourine, & I never play it!! I did at the first..but went & bought another, not one but 2 & play them both at once!!!!!! If only he could see me.WELL, just maybe he can!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ THE NEXT COMMENT BELOW!!!!!
    DAISY MAE P.S. THIS WAS MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL!!!!!!!

    Wow... my eyes welled up with tears as he disappeared from the stage. Then when he came out and goosed the sax player, I laughed so hard. One more thing. Anyone who truly believes that Mike only cares about playing music, period, and is too serious, has clearly never seen Elephant Parts or Pop Clips. Mike was and is one of the naturally sillier and more hilarious Monkees. You would be VERY surprised. Let's put that old rumor to rest, now. Nez is finally able to join the other guys. He really does care about the fans. He's just a quiet, private person. That's OK.

    • @GingerGilligan
      @GingerGilligan 9 років тому +3

      Thank you crazysingingchick. If Mike didn't want to do comedy, why would he even audition for The Monkees in the first place? It makes no sense. Mike was cast because he was cute, funny, and quirky and had musical talent and had enough natural acting ability even if he had little acting experience. And OMG I just received my Valentine's Day CD from "Nez" and he signed it For Cindy From Mike! Sweet sweet man!!!!!

    • @GingerGilligan
      @GingerGilligan 9 років тому +4

      DAVY was the only Monkee who took himself WAY too seriously and had little sense of humor about himself. Even when he was making "jokes" on stage he would get ticked if you didn't think he was absolutely hilarious. He would chase after people who dared walk out on him while he was performing. BTW Mike has his own little virtual world, Videoranch3d! How cool is that! You think Davy could do that? I don't think so! Mike is the most *accessible* Monkee and judging from his little notes on his facebook site cares more about his fans than any "celebrity" I have ever heard of.

      Lighten up Francis! The man is dead. If you're going to continually (as I can see through all your negative posts about Davy on this upload) criticize a dead man there is something obviously wrong with you. Get a life!

    • @mortcoil7888
      @mortcoil7888 7 років тому

      Squirrel Attackspidy you know I like the lighten up Francis! I wonder how many know what you're talking about besides me? But anyway, I don't know if I agree well actually no I don't agree with the deceased person theology about don't speak bad of somebody because they're dead, because well don't get me started on how many crappy ass people are dead that should be talked way worse about than they are now even, but anyway, I know what you're saying, at least I believe you were saying that out of respect for Davey, and that it sparked a defensive spirit about not speaking stupidly over somebody that has touched a lot of people in a positive way, which David did, and a challenge somebody to come up with a scenario where Dave he did not affect the public in a positive way where he did not come across as fun and caring and grateful about his fans, just the fact that he was on the Brady Bunch should tell them that questionably dumbbell, and I mean that as a purely non-descriptive word referring to no one in particular living or dead and any resemblance to someone would be purely coincidental, so fictionally I would call the person thatwould think the day we didn't have a sense of humour about himself, I would fictionally call that person a stupid motherfucker, but I mean that only for entertainment purposes and any resemblance between people living it dead is a damn shameful-👨‍👨‍👧‍👧 but anyway, if appearing on the Brady Bunch didn't prove the Davy Jones had it since of humour and levity his character, then I would recommend the person that doesn't think he has a sense of humour about his character the most actually, I would recommend that person submit themselves for a full regime of ECT treatments. And for those of you not familiar, that refers to electroconvulsive therapy. Shock treatment was the crude title given to that type of 'therapy' long ago. So I recommend such treatments that are administered as much more "" humane or comfortable today I recommend the person receive a few if recommended by a psychiatric professional, and I recommend these strictly from listening and observing PhD's and MDs and all types of impressive initials.

    I never met Davy Jones but I did grow up with all the monkeys music I think that David Jones ) Peter Tork) Mike Nesmith )Micky dolenz) are all talented musicians. I remember when Davy Jones came to Newport Kentucky and play the nightclub call The Syndicate I was sick that day and I really wanted to go see him. But I had a friend of my who went and got some video of his performance so at least I got to see it 'he is very very talented .
    so I say thank you for the memories (Davy Jones ) and also to Mike Nesmith Peter Tork and Micky dolenz.👍🎵🎤🎹🎼🎶🎸🎸🎭💿💙 rest in peace Davy Jones you'll never be forgotten .you maybe gone but your music lives on forever🎼🎶🎵🎹🎸🎵💿💙
