That & the discontinued FXDR. I don’t get why they discontinued it, I’ve been trying to find one in good condition with reasonable miles for a decent price. All the ones in my 250 mile radius are either low miles &at least 5k over MSRP or high miles at MRSP give or take, or private sale looking abused for a high price since “it was a limited run, I know what I got”

One of my favorite Dyna/Softail HD's. I liked it when it first came out as a Dyna. Then they hacked up the back end. Still had my attention. Then it switched over to the Softtail. I took one, and several other of the new Softail's, for a test ride when the factory truck was in town. I walked into the dealership to mull things over after my rides and there was a Sport Glide. This was the week they were released and there was not one on the truck. Off I went on a test ride on the Sport Glide and that is what sits in my garage. Dress it up or strip it down. The SG checked all the boxes for me, Stage III added at purchase. The M8 in the new Softail frame is a hell of package! One for everyone. And I've got bags to load up with. Thanks Matt another great video. Let's see a FLSB review.

Matt, great review, LOWRIDER S HANDS DOWN! I’m 65 and had them all, Touring Harley’s, Sportsters 1968 XLCH and 1970 XLH both factory bone stock which I still own and a wide variety of metrics. BUT, even at 65 it all boils down to one bike after owning them all.... it boils down to my LOWRIDER even for long distance riding which I do from time to time. My touring bike is just not as fun as my Lowrider. So, if I had to pick just one bike to own.... it’s my Lowrider, end of story!

I have about 13k on my 2018 114...I absolutely love this bike. I was riding a '14 street Bob and, living in the mountains, I was running out of brakes and needing to drop A LOT of money upgrading suspension and brakes (Dyna Bros know what I'm talking about)...so I rode a few of the new softails but the mean look, the suspension/brakes, and the performance totally sold me. I hated the bars and went to 12" mx t-bars, changed a few other things, but this is an incredibly solid bike. If you're thinking about it, now's the time to pull the trigger. 🤘

This is an awesome looking motorcycle. As far as the looks go it is one of the top 5 coolest looking bikes of all types. Couple issues I've heard they have though:
    - it's damn near impossible to find neutral on this bike
-the LED headlight looks cool and modern, but is not particularly bright despite it's size.
    - it has a huge 1700cc+ engine making it weigh close to 700lbs but only making 90hp
-Costs over 20k out the door and you're basically paying for looks and a name, without really much preformance to back it up.

    • @Burzurk1987

Both the old and new Fat Bob are bikes I love to see but will never own. I think with the new M8FB, Harley really nailed it in the style with a unique performance cruiser vs street fighter (Ducati Monster) look. If a performance cruiser ever has a look it is the M8-FB, others like old FB and V-Rod never really made it, old old SteetVRod getting close. I think the new M8FatBob is much more popular to the old DynaFB, by what I see around. It would be interesting how much the Fat Bob is selling. For example the Softail Sport Glide is top selling HD in the UK for 2019, and also 2018.

Love the Fat Bob. I have the 2020 model and the first thing I did was put the Screaming Eagle Black slip on Mufflers and a Stage IV kit through it. The only real issues I had with the bike is, the seat was uncomfortable after a few hundred kilometres, so I put the Harley Sundowner which also gives the pillion a better ride. Also, as a design feature, I would raise the display up to the handlebars as you have to take your eyes off the road for several seconds to see it. Not a great idea at any speed. I also have cruise control, more to keep the bike at signposted speeds as it's too easy to find yourself well over the speed limit if you're not careful. All in all, definitely the best bike I've ever owned and you can't keep the grin from my face. I put 8,000 km on the bike in the first 6 weeks I owned it. Just awesome.

This M8 motor and softail chassis put the Dyna and old softail to SHAME in my opinion. This bike is awesome. I had a stage 1 done with S&S slip ons. If I ride conservatively I can get 50 mpg. The combination of power, handling and comfort is fantastic! Great intro with the Zombie theme, just luv it and all your videos. Don't change a thing in the way you do them. Ridden both Dyna and Softail versions. I told the salesman the Dyna was confused and doesn't know what it wants to be. The forwards just don't fit the low drag bars. The brakes were horrible as well. The softail version had a lot of power and has better individual styling but the tank is what kills it. No way I'm getting a 3.5 tank with a 114. Seat was uncomfortable as well. But it at least seemed to understand its role and identity versus the Dyna. If this bike is the only true "new" style as opposed to bikes with "lineage", then that should tell HD what buyers want: bikes with classic style derived from their heritage. Nice attempt at selling these though. There are tons where I live and they just don't sell.

I REALLY like this bike! I'm 6'5" and 300 lbs and this and the Fat Boy are the best fitting ergos outside of a touring bike. I want a Harley but I do NOT want a Touring bike for my first. If you had a customer that was too big for "beginner" bikes, would you recommend the Fat Bob or Fat Boy softails?

Own the 2018 107 in red iron. Its f awesome ride, get the " dude, nice bike" looks on every ride, and matt is so right. Just ride it and you will see what he is talking about. Front pegs are so money a chill confortable riding position. This bike does it all. I'm 6ft, 225.

I almost bought a Fat Bob in 2018 but went with the KTM Super Duke 1290r. The SD was lighter and more horsepower. Eventhough I raced motocross and flat track, I like safety tech. The SD as well as most Premium European bikes offer stability control with IMU and cornering ABS/cornering TC standard for safety. Love Color TFT dashes.

I've owned Harley's for over 40 years. Hands down the best bike I have ever owned is my 2018 Fat bob. Torque monster with a great ride here in Asia. Handles anything. Ran over a small dog and felt like a small bump. True!

had a stage 3 fat bob now got a stage 2 LRS i’m 6ft , the LRS is so much better in the u.k. ,found the bob at high speed just battered you with lack of protection, the LRS way better all round bike feel it turns into corners way better, that’s just my view Matt 😎👍

The only reason I'm hesitating on buying this bike is my fear that Harley-Davidson will discontinue it. Like most people, I wish the gas tank held more fuel and I'm not crazy about the look of the exhaust. For those reasons, along with the fact that it doesn't look traditional like it's more popular stablemate, the Lowrider S; I think the bean counters at HD will not stick with this bike.

Great overall review with allot of usable points.
i have the 18 fat bob and have had many bikes over the years (gixer, Hondas, V stars, gold wings, etc.) . This is my first Harley. That being said, this is the most fun and enjoyable bike i have ever had. the ride is great, manurable, stable, fast enough and sporty enough with comfort and the engine and overall feel when you ride it is amazing and just is a great feel. That engine has an amazing feel to it!!!!
I personally like the styling and feel this is a great sport cruiser.
Thank you Harely Davidson for this one !!!!

I was a 2017 Dyna Fatbob owner & rider and a total Dyna lover, until I rode the 2018 Softail Fatbob at Daytona Bike Week on the fantastic HD Demonstration rides. This is no group ride! They give you any of the HD fleet to ride by-yourself over a 8-10 mile route as many times as you want day after day. I rode the lot. But the Fatbob 114 was the most exhilarating ride, so nimble & I rode it many times on the demo rides I did. It felt lighter than the Dyna, I much preferred the slightly smaller tank as the 5-gallon tank I find is too wide, & for me hurt my groin on my Dyna. I sold my Dyna Fatbob to my pal with the intention of buying a 2020 Fatbob but Covid-19 got in the way! I’m back to wanting one big time! I’d say its no use to go on long-distance camping trips but for fun round town & or a 100+ mile weekday run it will be prefect! I’m 6’1 and big, I was amazed how I fit on the new Fatbob! Perfect! On my Dyna Fatbob I had a Tallboy seat & extended forward controls to get comfy! The position on the new Fatbob is more upright and more in control. It suits tall riders.
On the Dyna the weight got to me, but the Softail is carrying any weight much lower. The stock Dyna headlight in England was really poor due to our legislation on not using two lights at front! But the new light has that problem, gone!
I’d say on the Softail range the alternative to ride is the Sportglide but I’d describe that as so easy to ride that my old Mum (101 in 2018) could ride it! But I’m more into an aggressive riding-style of get there fast!! So the latest Fatbob worked better for me!

I seriously considered this bike but went with the 2020 LRS instead. One thing that kept me away was the smaller tank size. I ride a lot and loath filling up constantly. Looks wise it's lovely.

    I really hear you Matt..!!
    I’m 6’4” and 240 lbs....
Like you I came from a early age dirt bike school..
I’ve been a Triumph guy as a adult... I have put 14,000 miles on my most recent Triumph Adventurer 900 triple...
BUT YOU ARE SPOT ON... it needs another gear and it needs a bigger engine...
I’m really researching Harleys and going all around on what is the next bike for me... when this pandemic loosens up a bit... I’ll be in to talk to your guys and start sitting on the bikes and test rides... I dig the Fat Bob and the out of the box look and hopefully nimble feel... I’m a short road trip to the multiple canyons in my area above Santa Barbara area...
    AWSOME VIDEO..!!
