Jay, I am not sure if you know this, but weapon piercing is a lot more useful than you think. Normally, when you shoot ink, you can only hit one person at a time. However, with weapon piercing, that shot goes through the enemy and can potentially hit another enemy behind them. The more piercing you have, the more enemies a single bullet can go through. (One piercing can go through one enemy, two can go through two, etc.)
I think of piercing as an effective doubling of the weapon’s dps, if you’re not already using a multi-hitting weapon like slosher or charger or blaster. Piercing single-handedly saved my first splatling run.
Any self respecting player would see the celebratory pancakes option and IMMEDIATELY buy them Cuz well, who wouldn’t? You just beat the game after all!
2 tips for your charger run. #1, the boss with all the layers stacked on only requires you to splat the 3 glowing rings. #2, GET HOMING SHOTS IT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING
@DragonLairArt not a charger main, but I found homing really messed me up when trying to hit high priority targets like snipers and portals from farther away, instead it would try and track the small enemies at my feet
1:03:23 I believe it’s been mentioned somewhere once or twice that the inklings are a little older in Splatoon 3 than they were in Splatoon 2. As for Marina and Pearl, Pearl was 21 in S2 and Marina was 18, just add 5 or 6 years and that’s their age now.
To clear up what piercing does - it makes it so that your attacks travel through enemies they hit. It’s really good at dealing with hordes, since you can hit more enemies with a single shot. It also lets you hit enemies and paint the floor below them at the same time. And with how slowly blaster usually fires, it is _really_ helpful, but it’s really helpful in basically any builds. (It also helps with some bosses, since you can often use the pierce to hit them several times with each shot.) And another thing about blaster: since the main weapon fires explosive shots, anything that buffs your explosions will also apply to your main weapon. The explosive shot also staggers most enemies, interrupting their attack wind-ups. (The melee hit of the Splatana Stamper also does this. All you really need to get a Stamper build going is a few Horizontal Slash Speed chips, and you can just wade through most swarms of enemies unharmed.)
@@Centyme I don’t think a single enemy can be hit with both the direct and indirect hitboxes, but being able to direct multiple enemies per shot is still pretty powerful.
Some facts I wanted to mention after seeing the bucket run: - Rondo's boss arena is based on a panopticon, a kind of prison design (the boss itself is inspired by it as well) - Rondo dies when all three of the layers with lights around their edges are destroyed - Rondo's lights have images of what attack it'll use when you get caught - Bonus floors can either be an extra objective or a saturation floor, decided at random - Eight's ink color depends on what color chips you have; during saturation floors this is changed to reflect the added color chips during that level - I'm pretty sure the patterns in the player's ink also depend on color chips - You don't have to continuously spam-attack the turbine, it will move forward as long as the tank on it isn't empty - Canon's stage BG might be red on floor 20 - The Canons travel to the stage via hanging cage just like Eight does - if you're fast enough you can spawnkill a Canon as it exits the cage - The main Canon (the one with hair) always uses its Triple Splashdown upon entrance, emulating the practice of using Splashdown mid-Super Jump in Splatoon 2... so if you pay enough attention as the Canons are riding the cage, you can spot it and prepare for its special - Lentos can carry Capricciosos, Spiccatos, and Accelerandos - Capricciosos will continue spraying ink and Spiccatos use their Splashdown attack instantly upon the Lento being splatted assuming you don't splat the Spiccato first - Overlorder's boss epithets are all number puns - they change based on rematches - Neat observation: Overlorder's Reefsliders are actually shark-like Jelletons... they don't have names, so I suggest the nickname of "Charging Fortissimo" for them

The best way to hear is it using the dash oad on the right side and use pearl to float
Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out yet, but the vending machine reset upgrade is INCREDIBLY worthwhile tbh. You can still reset the items after already having bought some, so even if the shop's already stocking some good stuff, you can just buy it all and then reset the items to potentially get even more good stuff. I've ended up buying like 9-12 upgrades on a single vending machine before, it's ridiculous. I'd 100% recommend it for anyone who likes being crazy overpowered, lol.
The one thing about Pearl Drone that was hard to watch was those time you fell off the edge but had enough height to recover if you grabbed onto the Pearl drone with B and flew away from the horde. I was like oof, that’s unfortunate. When your armor breaks and you jump you can grab the Pearl drone and fly for distance or if you get thrown of the map, so long as you press it before you get below the height of the edge. It’s saved my butt idk how many times.
I don't know if you noticed when finishing the palettes yoj had started, but i will say, after the first clear, there is more story-related dialogue that happens as you approach 30F with the rest of the palettes, in case you want to include as much story stuff in this let's play as possible. i'm loving the videos!! :D

On the topic of modding, the concept of a Side Order mod (since the 5 objective types are so easily replaced in each floor) that adds an entire batch of new floors, or at least replaces the existing ones, seems like a kick-ass concept. Imagine Rainbow Order with a slew of super challenging floors 👀
To further expand on this, I don’t believe it can take the portals out. It leaves them at very low health so that a single shot/bomb can break them when you come back to them.
@@hum4np3rs0n3 I’ve beaten every weapon and purchased every hack and I haven’t personally seen ground ink damage break a portal. I’m not 100% certain but I doubt it.

Also the tones next to a weapon are more common, the bigger ones being the most common and the smaller being the second most, Wich means they are easier to rack up if you begin to struggle

Try hanging around the lobby for a little longer, the music and lighting gets even cooler. Also, if you upgrade "broken armor bounce", you can explore the outer edges of the lobby by jumping into the water and gliding with Pearl. There's some hidden stuff
For your question about splatoon ages, the splatoon timeline is parallel to ours, one year in the real world is one year in splatoon time- at splatoon twos release Marina is 18 and pearl is 21 meaning they would be about 24 and 27 now- and all the agents are around 12-16 because they're a player insert meaning captan is 21-25, agent four and eight are 18-22 and neo is like- 16. they do age with us, honestly its part of the game i love so much its part of me as much as im part of it theres a video called 'You're an adult now' that kinda dissects how splatoon ages with us.
The charger run was my favourite in the whole dlc, in my run I was able to get max charge speed and damage boosts with some ink charge, range upgrades and homing. Basically turned the charger into an insta kill machine gun. The only downside was it chewed through my ink in 3 seconds. its awesome
i still have no idea what's up with the armor on the vending machine levels, but i do know which ones you get is determined by the amount of chips of each tone in your pallet. they're also all on 8's model at all times, just invisible
Note: parallel cannons appearance only applies to the one that has splashdown and the splashdown one doesn’t appear in every fight 2: the appearance is agent 4 data from hero mode not agent 8 data from octo expansion (what your character looks like when entering hero mode)
im not sure where this knowledge came from but im pretty sure canonically in splatoon 2 marina was 18 and pearl was 21. meaning since splatoon 3 is 5 years after splatoon 2, they're now 23 and 26 respectively.
You never commented on it, but every time after the first on you bring a mew palette to the top, Overlorder has a different little small title based off what number after the first one it was
just to clear up the stuff with the bonus: bonus can either be an extra optional!!! challenge or extra saturation, whereas the danger is an obligatory handicap
You should utilize floor resets and vending machine resets to get more useful chips! Floor resets could also help in avoiding undesirable levels (Splatzones)
the color of your ink and tips depends on how many of one color type of chips you have. if theres majority of one color, itll be your main color. the tip depends on the second highest amount of color chips in your palette.
the earpiece that you have is actually for the color chips that you have, like in the final boss last faze you get a very long earpiece. This is because you have a full color chip pallet.
You should check out the far right and far left corners of the lobby- you can jump into the water and glide with the jump it gives you, and there’s some secrets back there!!
on the subject of mario kart track creation, there was actually a game like that: Little Big Planet Karting for the PS3. not a nintendo thing but pretty close to it
Hey jay. If you wanna fill your pallet quicker, when you’re at your vending machine, you can reset it after it’s sold out and it’ll restock with new chips
the player characters that do turfwar are 14, agent 3/captain is 21, Marina is 23, pearl is 26. the idols and pre-established characters age in real time but the PCs always start a new game being 14.
When you do bow, don't fully charge your shots if you don't need the range, it's so much better if you half charge them because the explosives still fire
Also i don’t think you got it but the boulder boss spawns enemies when it touches the bumpers, try to bot let it bounce off them ! And the dual zones that you hate is so EASY with the charger you might enjoy it !
I 100%'ed side order yesterday! It was so frustrating with the last pallet, but fun overall. I'm definitely going to go back and play again to collect all the banners, locker items, clothes, etc etc.
1:03:42 The passage of time in Splatoon is equal to our own. If a year passes in our world, a year passes in Splatoon. Marina was 18 at the start of Splatoon 2 so now she's 23 in Side Order. EDIT: As for the player inklings, I think they all start at 14/15 at the start of each game. Captain 3 would be 21 now, Agent 4 is 19, and Neo Agent 3 is 14.
1:06:57 To clear that up, the game uses your Agent 4 from Splatoon 2 if you did the data transfer when you first booted up the game, I know this because my Parallel Cannon has the inkling boy ponytail which I rocked in Splat 2. Additionally, I believe when you first start Side Order Agent 8 will look like your Agent 8 from Octo Expansion, but of course you are able to change it (I could be wrong about this though, as my Agent 8 was fairly basic so I could’ve mistaken it as a data transfer)
If you ever want to get extra Prlz then make sure you fill your palette with only ONE type of chips. So if you fill your palette with only the purple support chips then at the end you should get about 1000+ Prlz
When you go into the danger levels the danger means that it randomly chooses from "lights out" "Turf inked" "stronger jellytons", etc so YOUR not in danger but that is what the danger is (So its not lights out and your in danger)
Oh btw don’t throw ur specials directly at the portals cuz they disappear instantly. There’s a moment where u lost ur wavebreaker doing this and u thought u three it off the edge. Just next time throw it to the side of the portal. 😅😅😅
Splatana is the easiest one because you can be right in front of a portal and just spam right in front of it, and while you're spamming, the enemies die at the same time
Jay, I am not sure if you know this, but weapon piercing is a lot more useful than you think. Normally, when you shoot ink, you can only hit one person at a time. Splashdown is also rlly good since it lets you get out of sticky situations and ink a lot of turf
i dont know if you knew this but each weapon has a color chip that is more likely, so that is why your bucket got a lot of support chips
1:21:44 That ball unintentionally killed 2 or 3 of those spinny guys and it looked really satisfying
I love the ink colors + patterns, is just so pretty
The charger run was my favourite in the whole dlc, in my run I was able to get max charge speed and damage boosts with some ink charge, range upgrades and homing. Basically turned the charger into an insta kill machine gun. The only downside was it chewed through my ink in 3 seconds. its awesome
Yes Jay, the ink strikes have always stuck on things
i look forward to this everyday !! love this series soo much
Just so you know, when you fight the spinny tower, you only need to shoot the layers that have lights on them
i still have no idea what's up with the armor on the vending machine levels, but i do know which ones you get is determined by the amount of chips of each tone in your pallet. they're also all on 8's model at all times, just invisible
omg apartment next to the highway gang
obsessed with your commentary Jay lol thanks for sharing this video :D
Note: parallel cannons appearance only applies to the one that has splashdown and the splashdown one doesn’t appear in every fight
2: the appearance is agent 4 data from hero mode not agent 8 data from octo expansion (what your character looks like when entering hero mode)
41:02 i managed to do a splat zone no main weapon bonus challenge with ink mine and ink strike once, was fun ngl haha
JAYYY YOURE KILLING ME YOU CAN REROLL THE VENDING MACHINES YOU HAD 7000 AT THE LAST MACHINE WASTED AHHHH
only if you get the hack for it tho. but yes I usually use em to fill my remaining chip slots whenever I can
Ultra stamp is really good for the final boss. One stamp can beat him after breaking the shield, and with stamp time left over
im not sure where this knowledge came from but im pretty sure canonically in splatoon 2 marina was 18 and pearl was 21. meaning since splatoon 3 is 5 years after splatoon 2, they're now 23 and 26 respectively.
YESSS so happy youre doing more side order :D
The blaster with max fire rate is great and lead me to my first win.
Already?? Good job jay 👍
You should check out the far right and far left corners of the lobby- you can jump into the water and glide with the jump it gives you, and there’s some secrets back there!!
As far as I know splatoon does canonically age like our time does, so yes they should be at least 18 now :)
on the subject of mario kart track creation, there was actually a game like that: Little Big Planet Karting for the PS3. not a nintendo thing but pretty close to it
Hey jay. If you wanna fill your pallet quicker, when you’re at your vending machine, you can reset it after it’s sold out and it’ll restock with new chips
Jay you can turn the splatling into nautilus
the player characters that do turfwar are 14, agent 3/captain is 21, Marina is 23, pearl is 26. the idols and pre-established characters age in real time but the PCs always start a new game being 14.
Defiantly can't wait for the next ones !!
1:06:57
To clear that up, the game uses your Agent 4 from Splatoon 2 if you did the data transfer when you first booted up the game, I know this because my Parallel Cannon has the inkling boy ponytail which I rocked in Splat 2.
Additionally, I believe when you first start Side Order Agent 8 will look like your Agent 8 from Octo Expansion, but of course you are able to change it (I could be wrong about this though, as my Agent 8 was fairly basic so I could’ve mistaken it as a data transfer)
If you increase blast radius, you can have it so that destroying one portal helps you destroy other portals
If you ever want to get extra Prlz then make sure you fill your palette with only ONE type of chips. So if you fill your palette with only the purple support chips then at the end you should get about 1000+ Prlz
Fun fact: there are multiple victory screens. Pearl just flies different but itsa fun detail
Jay, I just wanted to say, unlike most of the comments, I think you are doing great, keep it up.
can’t wait for him to try agent 8 weapon 💀🙅♀️
Hey jay if you max out fire rate on blaster it turns into basically a flamethrower (its faster than grizzco blaster)
When you go into the danger levels the danger means that it randomly chooses from "lights out" "Turf inked" "stronger jellytons", etc so YOUR not in danger but that is what the danger is (So its not lights out and your in danger)
I love this series and I have already 100% it and I want to see you do it and the charger
By the way, inklings and octos DID age with you. Agent 8 is canonically 18 in side order :)
YIPPEEE JAY UPLOADED A VIDEO!!!
Oh btw don’t throw ur specials directly at the portals cuz they disappear instantly. There’s a moment where u lost ur wavebreaker doing this and u thought u three it off the edge. Just next time throw it to the side of the portal. 😅😅😅
Only objects get instantly deleted by portals. These include sprinklers, wave breakers, splash walls, and whatever else I forgot even existed.
Splatana is the easiest one because you can be right in front of a portal and just spam right in front of it, and while you're spamming, the enemies die at the same time
to be fair i also thought pearl shot things for a while, especially the way they talked abt her helping in the beginning
hey jay! i know this is a little late but i just wanted to say that i’ve been really enjoying this series! :)
