Nice to see a you tube vid on this.
We fix a hand full a year, & the quick test is pull the top off as shown, & before disconnecting or metering anything, just bridge across the 2 low volt pins of the Up/Down ribbon connector inside, with a small screwdriver etc.
Usually the snorkel will then rise & the fan speeds can be confirmed working, & the up/down switch is confirmed bad.
This also has the benefit of leaving the vent up w the fan working until a part arrives, if not on hand.

Thank you. We were told our whole unit needed to replaced. But the draft would work intermittently with power just needed several presses of the switch. But I figured it was something more simple. We tested the electricity and I ordered the switch on line from Viking parts. The problem was fixed in about 10 minutes!

Hi Scott...my up and down motor is working but the fan isn't blowing? any ideas what to look for?
I wonder if it just needs a new fan switch?

I could use some clarification on one point. You say that you pull up the range hood to remove the 2 Philips head screws on each side of the vent, but don't show that step. How much force is needed to lift the vent to the raised position? I ask because mine doesn't move with a fair amount of force and I don't want to pull harder (and risk breaking it) unless I know that it is normal to require a fair amount of force to lift the unit. Thank.
It is very heavy and not easy to lift .

I bet that switch used to turn off needs to be replaced.

Did you ever get yours going?
I pried this one up slightly with a flat head screwdriver and then lifted it up with both hands a locked some vice grips near the base while I switched out the switch.

So mine says clean filter , red light is blinking, I’ve cleaned them ,still blinking?
