Yay!! First sponsor, I'm so happy for you. That cute meow "no" from babybat made me chuckle. Our dog Willow talks back to us just as clearly sometimes. It's hilarious.
Historically accurate? Maybe not. But would the people in that time period be super into it? HECK YES. Also your cats playing on the cat tree brought me so much joy, what sweet babies 💚
Yes. I really love that she used a flower printed cloth on the bodice and skirt. Very cute and dainty, I was wonder why it hasn't been used at that time period. They sure missed the idea and opportunity of using flower printed fabric on their gowns...
Um so much kitty content, they were so fun and so cute and unhelpful! My kids recognize Baby Bat and Rachel Maksy's pup and come and watch those videos with me. I'm always so amazed by your sewing skills! Thanks for sharing this video with us

THE BUTTERFLY CLIPS???? The lovely modern fabric making 18th century fun and fresh?? A cute af cat tree from a sponsor???? I'm so ready for you and this channel to blow tf up because you deserve it! Your pattern drafting scenes are always so aesthetic, you always make such complicated sewing techniques looks so commonplace and simple that I always finish up a video thinking I too can just whip up a quick robe a la francaise (or a robe anglais, or just a robe, period) in a week. Anyway I'm simping.
I love that you could totally just make a new petticoat and stomacher and have something quite historically accurate but the fun print totally fit the bill for the shoot you had. That’s a great strategy
OK, I've never really liked Rococco styles; but this is so cute! I love how the petticoat works with it. Like you said, not historically accurate but it just works. Awesome!
I am obsessed with that floral fabric you used for the petticoat layer. The whole look is very sweet and I'm in awe at how much you got done in 5 days. My slow sewing ass could never.
thank you! haha having a really fast sewing machine definitely helps and i think costume grad school conditioned me to work as efficiently as possible 😅 so many deadlines that everyone insisted were Very Important
The dress is very beautiful. Love the petticoat especially. The cat tree is super cute as well! It looks like I am going to have to see if I can fit one of the models in my house for my own fur babies
Your hair and makeup match the dress so perfectly! The little fluttering gold butterflies and that glitter highlight really make you look like a fairy princess
I can't believe you made something so intricate and so beautiful in such a short timespan. It's absolutely gorgeous, you did great. Congrats on the sponsor

Honestly this is the first robe a la francaise I've seen that I've actually wanted to wear, I know that they are all about the extravagant embellishments and I love seeing all the crazy cool designs people make but this simple pink gown with the floral under dress is so my jam
Congrats on your sponsorship, i love how involved the kitties were! This dress turned out gorgeous, can hardly believe it only took you 5 days to make! I would have loved to see how you got into it, I'm unsure of the closures of such a dress..
Thank you!! I’ll add a getting dressed video to my list of to do videos! But it laces in the front under the stomacher, with the stomacher stitched to one side and closing with hooks and eyes on the other side. Then a couple more hooks and eyes securing the actual dress front edge to the stomacher
Congrats on your first sponsor!!! Looks like Baby Bat and Honeybee adore it! Amazing that you made a Robe a La Francaise so quickly! I'll definitely have to pick up the American Duchess book when I get around to making a Robe a L'Anglaise!

I've had really serious issues with all three patterns I have from RedThreaded and when I asked about them, everyone jumped in to defend RedThreaded, so I honestly thought the issue was with me and not with the pattern being so far off with trueing.
Thank you! And ah what people defended that??? So happy for you and the kitties they look like they're really enjoying their new toy. The dress turned out very well and the trim looked awesome. Using a pattern fabric was very cleaver to cut on time and reminded me of brocade dresses of the period. I'm finally sewing! Today I sewed only for half a day but I was able to make most of a wearable mockup of a dress. I'm so happy 😊
this was such a cosy video and yay for such a cute sponsorship! the woodland view, the cat tree, the sounds of fabric, your collection of embroidered sweaters that I just adore. you're my true comfort channel and your fitting review helps me figure out how to fix fitting issues with my own sewing.
This is such a beautiful dress and looks flawless on you! Using a floral print fabric for the petticoat/stomacher was also what I did to avoid having to cut yards of self-trim to decorate. Again, always impressed by your skill and speed and how you talk through your processes for fitting and adjusting and finishing. I couldn't understand the American Duchess instructions for the back pleats when I first made this gown so I appreciate having another video resource to look back at if I ever attempt one again. Hi! Wow your dress is gorgeous. And cotton sateen looks really good. I haven't thought about it for a so fabric hungry dress but it doesn't feel heavy at all. That colour is amazing in the fresh green (and wet) grass. And your babies are so cute playing in their new tree😍😍😍. See you in your next video, thank you🥰
Thank you!! Yeah I was little concerned about using cotton bc of the weight it would add as opposed to taffeta but the voile I used for the petticoat was super lightweight and the sateen was definitely a lot lighter than I expected!
I think this gown is great -- using the border print brought the feel of elaborate embroidery without having to do any. And I'm now mired in the Happy and Polly website wondering what my cats would like.
thank you! i was very happy I was able to use a border print and get away with not doing any time consuming embellishment haha. their website has so much stuff!! I'm so happy I got to spoil the kitties 😊
This dress is my absolute dream! It fits my aesthetic exactly! *Drools* I'm also in the process of gathering down a million yards of trim (for a mantelet) and realizing I could've done it the way you did and it would look so much better! I did straight (but pinked) borders instead of scalloped, and I love how much cleaner the gathers look with that detail!

As always beautiful dress and I do love the close-up on the construction, It helps me with my own sewing (when I do). Where did you buy the floral fabric, I wouldn't mind a few meters? So any news on Frau?
I got it from mood fabrics! I’ve been doing a little bit of work on her here and there, trying to intersperse it with quicker projects so I don’t get resentful of the whole project again 😅
This turned out suuuuper stinkin' cute. I feel like it has less ruffles than Rococo standard calls for, but that works for me. XDD The fabric for the petticoat and stomacher was a great choice. Just enough detail to be distinct.
Yeah I thought of adding more ruffles and maybe I will later but uhh time constraints and everyone else in the group had very few ruffles so it worked out!
as usual beautiful dress, gorgeous you and you handled this not so quick project😉 in several days meanwhile I can't finish my summer jacket for 3 weeks now and Yeay for the Marie Antoinette movie, now I want to rewatch it
@@moth.faerie Yeah :) my only hope is that I'll finish it till the summer ends (personal record is 1.5 years) and congrats on first sponsor! well deserved
The dress turned out super cuuute!! The petticoat fabric was indeed a perfect choice, it looks so good. And honestly... don't bother with French. None of the pronunciation makes sense. It's just convoluted randomness (it's very funny every time i explain how a French word is pronounced to my English friends because the convo just goes "BUT WHY" and i have zero answers)(and i'm French)
@@moth.faerie you were really close lmao you just need to add a -z sound to the "française" (the way you pronounced it is correct when it's the masculine form of the adjective (français)! But we love to complicate things so, you know.)
I think your use of the border print at the hem and also at the waist and stomacher was beautiful. Ugh, I bought a Reconstructing History pattern and not only were the pattern pieces not trued, the markings and notches were way off. Such a disappointing waste of money.
Oh man. I got blood taken the other day and I told the guy that I was afraid of needles and that I get light headed a lot (which is why I was getting blood drawn)... And he asked if I was going to need to lie down, and I was like no, no, I'll be fine, I'll just look the other way, I've been doing a lot better with needles... And he asked if I was sure, and I was all yes, I'll be fine... You can see where this is going.
@@moth.faerie My guy was pretty nice, he didn't say anything but he did have a look that was just like, "yup, called it". But then he just chilled and waited while I laid down... And tried to get up... And had to lay down again after like 30 seconds... Also he had really good technique, which makes sense since that's all they do there. (And I had the excuse that I had to fast beforehand.)
I was kind of wondering why costubers don't like take a photo and scale it upp cuz it seems like a time saver but there has to be a reason that very few people use it 🤔

Another lovely dress!
Congrats on the sponsor!
The cats are super cute as always
Thank you! It’s from mood fabrics! It’s listed under mercerized cotton
as usual beautiful dress, gorgeous you
and you handled this not so quick project😉 in several days meanwhile I can't finish my summer jacket for 3 weeks now
and Yeay for the Marie Antoinette movie, now I want to rewatch it
Thank you! Haha you should definitely take your time it makes sewing a lot more enjoyable 😅
@@moth.faerie Yeah :) my only hope is that I'll finish it till the summer ends (personal record is 1.5 years)
and congrats on first sponsor! well deserved
Thank you!! Haha i figure I should make an honest attempt then if it’s not correct at least I tried 😅
@@moth.faerie you were really close lmao you just need to add a -z sound to the "française" (the way you pronounced it is correct when it's the masculine form of the adjective (français)! But we love to complicate things so, you know.)
glasses !! where did you get your glasses ??
I got them at eyetique but I’ve since moved and also saw them at my new place so I think they’re not uncommon! I don’t remember the brand tho sorry 😅
Wait I swear I saw a tiktok of what this dress was for just yesterday??
I posted a tiktok in it on Thursday 😊
I think your use of the border print at the hem and also at the waist and stomacher was beautiful. Ugh, I bought a Reconstructing History pattern and not only were the pattern pieces not trued, the markings and notches were way off. Such a disappointing waste of money.
thank you! aah yeah i've heard they're not very good so I've avoided them so far
Bonjour c est quel patron vous avez utilisé bon dimanche
hearing you complain about how poorly made expensive patterns are will never get old
lmao then you'll love the next video
❤❤❤
Oh nooooo at least your person was nice tho! The woman who took my blood told me I better not faint when I told her I’ve passed out before 🙃
@@moth.faerie My guy was pretty nice, he didn't say anything but he did have a look that was just like, "yup, called it". But then he just chilled and waited while I laid down... And tried to get up... And had to lay down again after like 30 seconds... Also he had really good technique, which makes sense since that's all they do there. (And I had the excuse that I had to fast beforehand.)
I was kind of wondering why costubers don't like take a photo and scale it upp cuz it seems like a time saver but there has to be a reason that very few people use it 🤔
I’m not sure what you mean by that😅
Thank you for calling out faulty patterns 😅
is your moms name Barbara
