The soul of Andy Reid has been transferred to Kyle Shanahan. Two blown leads inside 3 years, outscored by the Patriots and the Chiefs 46-0 in the 4th quarter and overtime. A new legacy has been born. Lol
@@GraveDigger35 some of it was, they didn't run the ball at all in the 4th quarter, much like Super Bowl 51. This one is a bit more questionable, bc at least in SB51, Shanahan was calling the plays for one of the greatest passing offenses of all time. In 54, he had the 2nd best rushing attack in the league. I don't understand why he threw as much as he did, but maybe there was a reason.

I want to put things into perspective: the Kansas City Chiefs hadn't won the big game since the Nixon administration. Half a century ago, video games were still an extremely obscure novelty, two years away from mainstream success, and 15 years before Nintendo ushered in the golden age of video games (though Nintendo had been around since the 19th century as a card and toy company). Mario Puzo's book "The Godfather" would come out one year after Super Bowl IV took place, with the movie adaptation, then the most profitable film in history and considered by many including myself to be the pinnacle of the medium, coming out the year after. The Vietnam War was raging on, and protests against it were building in intensity. None of the tech giants of today had even been conceived, and some of the people behind those tech giants weren't even born yet. Cable television was still a decade or so away from becoming a legitimate competitor to terrestrial television. The internet hardly even existed, and was still used exclusively by the military. It would be a few decades before cell phones became the global phenomenon we know them as today. Vinyl and cassette were the only ways to buy music, remaining so until the rise of compact discs. As far as I know, VCR's and VHS tapes didn't even exist in 1970, let alone DVD's. Heck, the Super Bowl was still years away from becoming the biggest annual event in American television. Fifty years later, and look at what's changed. Donald Trump, who wasn't in the public eye in 1970, is the president of the United States. Video games are now a mainstay around the world, and have spawned offshoots in the forms of computer games and mobile games. Avengers: Endgame is now the most successful film of all-time. Most wars these days are being fought in the Middle East and Central and Eastern Africa. The tech giants of Google, Apple, Amazon, and Facebook have completely changed the economy. Cable television is now struggling to stay afloat after a couple decades of success. The internet has infiltrated every corner of modern society. Cell phones (and in particular smart phones) have become ubiquitous. We now consume music through digital marketplaces and streaming services, as physical forms of media have fallen out of favor. The same can be said of the home video industry. And, lastly, the Super Bowl has become America's unofficial holiday, with pop musicians performing at halftime, people tuning in just for the commercials, and many snacks to be had as we watch some wholesome football. Fifty years ago, Hank Stram cemented his legacy as his team matriculated the ball down the field to beat the Vikings. Last night, Andy Reid broke his legacy of failure and got to enjoy the biggest double cheeseburger ever.
not to forget the world trade was almost finished with construction, kc royals had just became a MLB expansion team, we just landed on the moon, Manson family had yet to be sent to prison, Woodstock was just the summer before, Lamar hunt was still alive, music was still on vinyl, and the TV was still in Mono.
I grew up in St. Paul Minnesota watching the Vikings break my heart and fail time and time again. I know exactly what Chiefs fans feel like. Whenever I see the Chiefs I feel like i'm watching football in the 70s because their uniforms, stadium, and the way their end zones are painted are straight out of the 70s.

UT (2 years ago): "I cannot comprehend the full Reid-ing going on!" UT now: "Oh, look...the Chiefs are down by 10 against the Niners into the 4th quarter - wait, what's this? They got 2 touchdowns AND a fucking field goal! AND an interception right after?!" *Game ends 20-31* "Get me a bottle of Everclear...for Andy. Big Red didn't go full Reid today, no sir; he took that incoming Category 5 Reid and threw it back at the fucking Niners!"
I remember going to the Titans game where Mariota caught his own pass. The stadium deflated at that point and I remember saying to my uncle, "Oh boy. Here we go again. We're never gonna win a Super Bowl because of shit like this." Fast forward to this year at the Texans game. Blown coverage, dropped passes, a blocked punt, and a muffed punt to start the game. However, I kept saying to my uncle that all we need is one good play and we got this. Then Hardman has that long kickoff return and at that point I knew we were going to win and keep winning. It just felt different. At that moment I felt 50 years of pain and heartache lift off from the shoulders of everone at Arrowhead and we knew, KNEW that we were gonna get ours. And we did. Thank you Tree for capturing those feelings of frustration evaporating.
That Mariota play and the off sides vs the Patriots made me feel like we would always be haunted by these stupid plays and we would never win it's unbelievable we finally won and I'm beyond happy
About your words, I have to take my hat off to the leadership skills of Mahomes: he said the same thing. They're sloppy, If we get a play to work right, we will score. We need this and this, let's do It (something like that, I don't remember his exact words)
@Christopher Collins I didn't think the refs made Shanahan forget he had one of the best running games in the league I don't think the refs stopped Shanahan from managing the clock better. I don't think the refs made the 49ers defense allow 21 points in 10 minutes. I don't think it's the refs fault that Shanahan is a fucking choker and too egotistical to play to win
Andy Reid 100% deserves this ring. Glad he got a team all the way to overcome all those postseason demons of old. But none of this would be possible without the Dolphins sacrificing the tank to beat the Patriots in week 17 to give Tennessee the upset slot.
Technically the Dolphins didn't give Tennessee the slot. All the Dolphins did was given KC a first round bye. And NE was bounced as a result because they had to play the Titans in the WC round. The Titans got in due to the Steelers losing to the Jets and the Ravens to end the season.
As the saying goes, "shit rolls downhill", but Andy Reid rose above that pile, and it is pure gold! Congrats, Chiefs! Love, a forever orphaned Raiders fan.
You... I was watching the game when this video notification hit my phone (yea, I know, its been 2 days, but I managed to avoid spoilers till now) and I think to myself "Welp, Chiefs lost. That sucks!". So KC scores last TD and I am thinking "Either I am gonna see the best comeback in football history or UTree trolled me with the name of the video". And then I've destroyed my chair when KC made the last INT. So, thank you for spicing up the game for me!
I'll admit: as a Giants fan, it's really weird to see Andy Reid win a Super Bowl, and to feel happy for him for winning it. Congratulations KC. You finally did it.
@@ilovesnortingsheetrockdust69 I don't think people forgot. When you're a head coach, especially a good one, for as long as he's been, people don't really care about the rings you won as an assistant coach or coordinator. Although if you asked Belichick, he'd probably tell you how meaningful those rings he got with the Giants are to him. 20 years and 6 more rings later, and I still don't think he's done a better coaching job since those two SBs

As a Chiefs fan of 40 years... I'd like to take this time to sincerely thank the Dolphins for blessing us this postseason. We are forever in your gratitude and owe you all a big fat juicy Kansas City steak. ❤💛
The Dolphins are no joke to the Chiefs. Without them being led by "The Tankbreaker" Ryan Fitzpatrick & beating the Patriots in Week 17, the postseason might have not played out this way. Chiefs fans might even want him to be signed as a backup in KC so they can try to get him a ring. They shouldn't be tempted to do that. Mahomes may have escaped the Madden Curse, but no one has escaped the Curse Of Fitzmagic.
And I thought the Blues video made me emotional I grew up with the notion that the Chiefs are rarely ever good, and a superbowl wasn't going to come our way for a long time. Thank you Andy Reid for giving Kansas City life after 50 years of disappointment.

@@contritemarker2555 Good thing that a football team doesn't consist of nearly 50 players, it's only Tyreek Hill who has already had to deal with the repercussions of his actions. By the way: They cut Kareem Hunt for his action, without hesitation, and he was just as important to them as Maholmes is. Hunt would get a contract extension despite that in multiple other franchises. Most of the Chiefs are genuinely likable, they play honest, fun to watch and really great football, and even off the field the vast majority of the team is incredibly likable.
It's so eerie looking back on this video just before the 2024-25 season starts, with the Chiefs looking to threepeat, and seeing all this positivity towards Big Red and Mahomes on the win. As of writing, Mahomes has played in every AFCCG since he became a starter (6 in a row), won 4 of them, and won 3 SBs after that - the only SB loss and one of the two AFCCG losses being to Tom Brady's last hurrahs. People hate us now, we are the phoenix rising from the ashes of the dead Evil Empire. If only these poor souls knew back in 2020 what this signalled for the NFL...and there are no signs of stopping. The league was not freed. It was placed under new management.

I'm only 24 years old and I've witnessed a lot of heartbreak, embarrassing QB play, awful coaching as a fan of the Chiefs. I had to sit through seasons with Brodie Croyle, Damon Huard, Tyler Thigpen and Matt Cassle. I had to sit through seasons of Herm Edwards, Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel as head coaches. I had to sit through two of the most painful playoff comeback losses against the Colts and the Titans. I felt worse for my Dad, as he dealt with it longer than I have. I'm glad I got to watch this Super Bowl that actually meant something to me and my Dad. I'm glad we have coach Reid, Patrick Mahomes, but most of all, I'm glad that we are finally Super Bowl champs.
...Bruh, I'm nearly 28 and I had the same feel you did, my dude. Croyle, Thigpen and Huard were all fucking garbage QBs, with the only glimmers of hope being the days when we had Vermeil as head coach.
Yep. Browns fan here. As a Chiefs fan since 1988, can say that the only "great" quarterbacks they had were: Steve De Berg; joe Montana (though he was at the end of his career); and Rich Gannon. Alex Smith was OK, until panic mode set in. May have been maybe 1 or 2 others that were good, though cannot remember them. After moving into the MO/KS area's in 1988, watching Steve De Berg play really got me to become a Chiefs fan. Loved watching their AWESOME defenses of the 1990s!! Then all those abysmal coach's, quarterbacks, seasons throughout the years.
@@jamesbednar8625 Trent Green was a good QB. From 2001-2005 he averaged over 4,000 yards a season. Those KC teams really weren't designed to stretch the field either. After a decade of most of the Super Bowls leaving a poor taste in people's mouths (except when the Pats either didn't make it or lost), it's wonderful to have a Super Bowl outcome that most people responded positively to. First we saw the Eagles break their curse, and now the Chiefs. I don't know who's next, but I'd like to believe that from 2018-2028 we see far less Pats wins and far more teams that haven't had as much success make it, much like this year was for the playoffs in general (the last time the Titans made it beyond Divisionals was 2002 and the Bills have only been to the playoffs twice in two decades, being two of the last three years, being two examples of some seeming change). It makes the game so much healthier and enjoyable to follow, so much so that it's made people like me, who used to have no interest in football because it was always "Pats win, fuck everyone else," actually want to follow the games, which hasn't happened for me since 2004 when I was 8 (and when I could already tell the game was getting unhealthy because the Pats were making the game less interesting by being always favored to win, which isn't fun to watch).
The similarities between the Chiefs and Blues almost brings tears to my eyes. Both franchises that had years of success but did just enough to lose each and every season...until now

That feels weird to say out loud.
The soul of Andy Reid has been transferred to Kyle Shanahan. Two blown leads inside 3 years, outscored by the Patriots and the Chiefs 46-0 in the 4th quarter and overtime. A new legacy has been born. Lol
Maybe blowing a lead in the fourth quarter will now be called a Shanahan
this last one wasn't his fault though, the chiefs just finally got their heads into the game at the right moment
Good shit man.
not to forget the world trade was almost finished with construction, kc royals had just became a MLB expansion team, we just landed on the moon, Manson family had yet to be sent to prison, Woodstock was just the summer before, Lamar hunt was still alive, music was still on vinyl, and the TV was still in Mono.
I live in KC and have all my life. It's difficult to describe what this means to our city. So much heartbreak for so long. No more!

I remember going to the Titans game where Mariota caught his own pass. The stadium deflated at that point and I remember saying to my uncle, "Oh boy. Here we go again.

DASCO2136
The Browns are too good at Browning to ever win a Super Bowl.
Well let's take a look at how the Sharks are doi-
oh
"I think you will get back here soon enough with Patrick Mahomes as QB" -Urinating Tree, 2020 Season
You're not wrong about Mahomes' ability to get them back to a Super Bowl. He is going to be one of those QBs that can elevate any team.
Other than the Browns.
@@basteala525 yeah.
He did. Only to lose it badly to Brady
@@DJ_MacphistoAnd then beat brady badly the following year and won another sb, breaking the mvp curse, passing yds curse and number 1 offense vs number 1 defense curse in the process
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF We have literally never seen this before.
I just realized that Andy Reid looks like Patrick's dad from spongebob and he is also the "father" of his quarterback PATRICK mahomes
I won money and my teacher had to bring food to school
Andy "choke" Reid has passed the torch to Kyle "28-3" Shanahan
As a falcons fan I'm glad he choked again
@@DeosPraetorian Same. You would think a coach would have learned after 28-3 how to manage the fucking game. He's so full of shit that I have no sympathy for him, although I feel for the fans.
@@kaiseramadeus233 Kyle Shanahan's Super Bowl teams have been outscored 46-0 in the 4th quarter and overtime.
Damn. :-o
No 28-3 is the exclusive property of Atlanta.
Joshua Normand no it’s owned by the moron who decided to pass the ball knowing full well that they were in field goal range needing 3 points to put the game out of reach.
Both franchises that had years of success but did just enough to lose each and every season...until now
I’ve waited my whole life for this. This video gave me goosebumps.
40 years of deep pain.... and suddenly it's all gone. Replaced with pure joy. This better not be a fucking dream.
The best tree videos are wholesome ones
Even though KC tend to beat the hell out of my Steelers, they were definitely the most deserving team. 50 years of heartbreak is mind boggling
It doesn't seem real. 40 Years of Pure Heart Break for this fella. I'm going to put a baby in my girlfriend this year.
LJ McWilliams What? The Steelers has own the KC for years. Hell, that win in Pittsburgh a year ago was the first time KC won at Pittsburgh in thirty years. Big ben even has a winning record against KC including a playoff win in KC. Come on now.
INFERNO95 allow me to rephrase, when say beat the hell out of I mean the games tend to be absolute battles. They tend to come down to either a field goal or a td
50 Years???? Try 54 ...Still no Lions.
David Collins they won Super Bowl 4
As an Eagles fan I'm glad to see Andy to finally get that ring.
We were glad to see you guys win your rings.
How about the super 57 ring tho?
Man as a Pats fan, I’ve seen the chiefs go through a lot for the past decade. Truly Congrats!
