Last week Truxton was before me in a store. I heard the booming voice of Lord Karnage "Buy Truxton, Love Truxton" And I did. Part of the Truxton club now! WOOHOO!
The first time i saw Desert Strike on tv back in the day, i instantly liked the look of it and knew i wanted to play the game and eventual series.I first got to play a Strike game when i played Jungle Strike on a cousin's Mega Drive in early 1996, though that was only for a few hours, like Mark said, i was quickly struck be how hard it was, though i never owned my own Mega Drive and i'd get to play the earliest two Strike games 'til years later, when i specifically bought the PSP's EA Replay to play them.(I got a Master System in summer 96, when it was on its' way out and its' games were hard to find, but i only just found out looking on Wikipedia that Desert Strike was released on the system, though Jungle Strike wasn't :_ .) I bought a PS1 in summer 98 and when i discovered Soviet Strike existed, i bought it on the spot (along with Gran Turismo :) ) and i bought Nuclear Strike shortly after - i promptly played both games to death :) .(Also, while they were hard games, they were thankfully considerable easier than the earlier Strike games :) .) As others have mentioned, i'd LOVE if a new Strike game were to be released :) .
+aldi404 "This is as bad as my first one, April 1961. We landed in the Bay of Pigs, our mission was to overthrow Castro. The fighting was fierce but we knew the Air Force was coming, the trouble was, they never did. My fellow soldiers were all killed or captured, while my survival was an embarrassment to my superiors. A man i didn't know brought me home. He was called the Security Czar. He doesn't believe in giving war powers to "Polichickens", neither do i (long snort out of cigar smoke) ".
I remember playing desert strike when I was 4-5 years old and I recall thinking there was something special to the game since there was a yellow little square on the cartridge. Of course I had no idea what I was doing but I do remember using the hook to pick up boxes.
I have all three games, Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, and Urban Strike. They are all rather good. Again mark, hold down the A button in order to strife. Also, you can pull back and then hard to left or right to do a special maneuver to avoid incoming missiles as well as swing around 180 degrees.
Ok, not trying to be that guy. You guys got a lot of emotion outta me when I watched all of the LAST videos of CGR. Like whats the deal? I dont think that you guys were trying to get views by "quitting", but what am I supposed to think? I love seeing new vids come out, I just feel kind of duped. Like what is the difference between uploading these on CGR channel and uploading it to this?
+TKs-Mantis Then I am greeted with Patreon ads.... like you can look up CGR and see you are making a fine amount of money... idk man like what is the deal? Long time fan here, I am honestly curious.
+TKs-Mantis Like seriously.... there looks to be 12 channels that you are getting income from, I am just completely outta left field here? well Social Blade links 12, but I am counting 4 that have CGR in the title, so that isn't even the ones with your name or your friends name. They all seem to have over 100,000 subs... Idk man...
+TKs-Mantis up to $4k a month on CGRundertow, and $8k a month for inecomcompany.... just putting it out there, dont like hearing patreon begs from someone who makes more money than I ever had at one time, in like 2 weeks, you do not need the donations. and I dont understand why you "closed" CGR. Can I get any response, as someone who has been a fan for multiple years and has supported you with donations in the past?
Played and completed the entire Strike series back in the 1990s, they were tough games and pretty fun. They're not likely to return from the dead though since I guess EA doesn't see, multi player only, DLC and pay wall potential with the games.
I remember the day I bought this after work and going to a mom and pop video game store (remember those?) and buying it immediately! Then getting on the R train and seeing another kid with the game!! And we geeked out over the game on the NYC subway to the dismay of other NYers who wanted up to shut up lol.Great game
If you don't have a Genesis (and why NOT?) but do have a PSP, you can play these games courtesy of the EA Replay collection. This can be had very cheap nowadays and has not only both Desert Strike and Jungle Strike, but also a bunch of classic Genesis games like all three Road Rash games, Mutant League Football, Virtual Pinball, Syndicate and more. Found my copy a couple of years ago for $2.99 and love it.
Jungle Strike is awesome! I played it a lot on Amiga 500. Tou forgot Urban Strike. And there was a planned game called Future Strike which later evolved into Future Cop: LAPD
I actually own all 3 Strike games for the genesis, Desert, Jungle and Urban and I actually prefer Urban Strike. If CGR wants to borrow Urban strike for a review, Id be willing to loan it to the show.
+Paul Contreras I have good memories of Desert and Jungle Strike... I have never even seen Urban Strike... such a late 16-bit game, would love to see a review from Mark.
moogsi Yeah, back in the day my younger bro and I rented Jungle strike and Desert strike at 2 separated occasions and I remember seeing Urban strike advertised in a old gamepro or something but our local blcokbuster never carried Urban, so that's one game we didn't actually get to play. We actually owned Soviet Strike and that game was bad ass, we didn't own Nuclear strike and I'm not sure if we actually rented it but I do remember it advertised.
Supposedly Mercenaries on PS2 started out as a Strike reboot or sequel early in development before it became the game it did. I'd also love to see a new Strike game, a new Mercenaries game, a Dropship sequel, Age of Empires 4, the entire X series to be released on Playstation, Star Citizen to get a Playstation release, Half Life 3, a Ferrari and a gold plated pony... ah, one can dream :) .
macker33 Off the top of my head, Star Wars Battlefront is a reboot, while 2010's Medal of Honour was kind of one too and i'm sure they must have more. Also if one company can make a reboot, anyone can :) .
lol I still have my copy from 93 one glorious Christmas. I'm on the last stage but it's been months since I have got back to it. BTW I did not see you strafe one time.
These games were damn good. I played them a bit but not sure if I played them enough. So with that said will we ever see Sega revive the series and give us better graphics and presentation?
Okay what is the best 80s or 90s Helicopter from a movie/tv show? I am saying a dark horse candidate here and saying the helicopter from a short lived show called Riptide. It is a Sikorsy transport helicopter called the "Screaming Mimi". Any aircraft with a face painted on the front automatically puts it on top.
Urban Strike had great potential but some major flaws, firstly the frame rate was terrible and had bad shuttering. The other issue was the game mechanics were not like the others, almost like it had bugs and was incomplete but they decided to release it anyway
A lot of games have re-releases manufactured by a different company, and that is why some are smaller while, I'm pretty sure the bigger fat/tall version with the yellow grip is the first batch of cart.'s atleast with ea, not sure about other companies. I know games made by Aklain have the shorter version for their games, like NBA Jam, and the stargate game.
They were making another sequel called "Future Strike", but EA lost faith in the brand. I guess the series didn't sell so well on the Playstation. They ended up releasing it as "Future Cop: LAPD", but it's the same basic sort of gameplay. The difference in that one is that you're in a mech for most of the game and you can get out of the mech and run around as a little dude and do stuff.
the story why ea games where bigger with the yellow tab was because sega did not give ea dev kits for the genesis/mega drive. EA reverse engineered games. Which is how they made games for sega back then. Sega and E.A always had a funky relationship.
Indeed there was, there were officially five games in the Strike series:- Desert Strike, released in 1992. Jungle Strike, released in 1993. Urban Strike, released in 1994. Soviet Strike, released in 1996. and Nuclear Strike, released in 1997 :) .
Dude i did not know it came in a regular sized cartridge i thought it came in one of those EA big ass cartridges with the weird yellow thingie on the top....please tell me i'm not the only one who remembers those
It's hard as nails when you get to the snow level using no cheats, three lives and trying to take down the M1 Abrams tanks or opposing choppers is near impossible
Last week Truxton was before me in a store. I heard the booming voice of Lord Karnage "Buy Truxton, Love Truxton" And I did. Part of the Truxton club now! WOOHOO!
Loved this series of games back in the day and easy to pickup cheaply these days.
Mohamed is back baby haha :)
Yeah and thanks Mohamed, you are awesome!!!
Mohammad from Qatar, that's a name I haven't heard in a few years!
completely forgot about this game until i saw this, thanks bud
Such a great game, i played this so much as a kid even though i remember sucking at it.
Me too 😂
The first time i saw Desert Strike on tv back in the day, i instantly liked the look of it and knew i wanted to play the game and eventual series.I first got to play a Strike game when i played Jungle Strike on a cousin's Mega Drive in early 1996, though that was only for a few hours, like Mark said, i was quickly struck be how hard it was, though i never owned my own Mega Drive and i'd get to play the earliest two Strike games 'til years later, when i specifically bought the PSP's EA Replay to play them.(I got a Master System in summer 96, when it was on its' way out and its' games were hard to find, but i only just found out looking on Wikipedia that Desert Strike was released on the system, though Jungle Strike wasn't :_ .)

I love this game! One of the greatest on the Genesis in my opinion
Easily one of my favorite series on the Sega Genesis
Please review Soviet Strike and Nuclear Strike. :)

This game does bring back memories, but not much as the first one. Thanks Mark.

+Dil Matturro makes me think of the Bomb's Away remix!
+Dil Matturro ...really?
Shut your fucking face! Now take that shit some where else!
+EL GAM3R did i make you angry??
( ಠ ‿ ಠ )
Dil Matturro Go take your unfunny meme and play in traffic with it.
Any chance you can review any Genesis games developed by Treasure like Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy or Alien Soldier?
Love the Strike series.
Strike games are awesome! I have been recently playing the Urban Strike the Sequel to Jungle Strike on Mega Drive!

The hardest mission growing up was the one with the motorcycle but when I replay it now it's pretty simple clearly have played this to many times 😂
I remember playing one of these strike games on the PC.
loved this game back in the day
Played and completed the entire Strike series back in the 1990s, they were tough games and pretty fun. They're not likely to return from the dead though since I guess EA doesn't see, multi player only, DLC and pay wall potential with the games.
Old school game ...incredible.
I remember the day I bought this after work and going to a mom and pop video game store (remember those?) and buying it immediately! Then getting on the R train and seeing another kid with the game!! And we geeked out over the game on the NYC subway to the dismay of other NYers who wanted up to shut up lol.Great game

At 1:07 Ron Jeremy as Ibn Kilbaba.
omg I loved that game, brother got it for me for Christmas one year
Jungle Strike is awesome! I played it a lot on Amiga 500. Tou forgot Urban Strike. And there was a planned game called Future Strike which later evolved into Future Cop: LAPD
I feel nostalgic. Nice channel !!!
Great game but Mark forgot about the funnest vehicle to use. Blowing shit up with the motorcycle on the Mexico level was awesome.
Wish I still had Steel Harbinger for you to review.
Was there one of the strikes on the psx? I remember playing a chopper game back in the day that was similar.
Feels bad seeing the cartridge in that condition (and not the tall EA cartridge), but mannn does it feel good seeing this bad boy again.
Welcome to the Jungle, we have fun and games.
5:13 Haha! Love it!
I actually own all 3 Strike games for the genesis, Desert, Jungle and Urban and I actually prefer Urban Strike. If CGR wants to borrow Urban strike for a review, Id be willing to loan it to the show.
this game brings back memories :)
wow this is pretty sweet for the genesis
next urban strike, followed by Soviet, then nuclear.
+Paul Contreras I have good memories of Desert and Jungle Strike... I have never even seen Urban Strike... such a late 16-bit game, would love to see a review from Mark.

+moogsi I have all three. In Urban strike you can get out of your helicopter and enter some buildings with a machine gun and rocket launcher.
i love this game!
My cousin had desert strike and I had jungle strike... Good times
Would absolutely love a new desert strike, a decent reboot, anything
Supposedly Mercenaries on PS2 started out as a Strike reboot or sequel early in development before it became the game it did.

tanner1ie Do EA do reboots? I think a strike reboot could be totally plausible.
Yeah, dropship was fun
macker33 Off the top of my head, Star Wars Battlefront is a reboot, while 2010's Medal of Honour was kind of one too and i'm sure they must have more.
Also if one company can make a reboot, anyone can :) .
tanner1ie I'm actually feeling good about the possibility of a desert strike reboot.
All i have to do now is wait, and wait........and wait etc etc
macker33 :) .
great nostalgia
I love the strike games
Oh wow, I have a copy of Jungle Strike I got for my Mega Drive (here in europe) uses a different cartridge shape, one that is slimmer, but longer.
Would be funny if ads for MOBILE STRIKE were with this video.
I remember this game , very fun also very hard. xD
How does this compare to Raid on Bungeling Bay? I mean, besides the jump from 8 to 16-bit?
Genesis DOES.
lol I still have my copy from 93 one glorious Christmas. I'm on the last stage but it's been months since I have got back to it. BTW I did not see you strafe one time.
Awesome series!
this was awesome i love playing it
NICE
yes a sega genesis reveiw
the cart looks different than the one i used to own. the one i had was one of those unique looking EA cartridges with the yellow tab on the side.
Finally it fits
These games were damn good. I played them a bit but not sure if I played them enough. So with that said will we ever see Sega revive the series and give us better graphics and presentation?
Game looks awesome

You forgot Urban Strike!
Mark, you NEED Urban Strike. Was on PSN last time I looked. You get to blow stuff up with a giant robot....
Urban Strike had great potential but some major flaws, firstly the frame rate was terrible and had bad shuttering. The other issue was the game mechanics were not like the others, almost like it had bugs and was incomplete but they decided to release it anyway
I have all three Strike games on genesis and have nuclear strike for PC!
You should put a link in the video to the other reviews you are recommending to watch
Good to know Mohammed's still alive. I thought he went missing or something.
whats the song from during the shout outs
This game looks reallly similar to Jurassic Park: Lost World for the genesis, even the interfaces
that looks dope…..
Yes, this was a lot easier when younger!!. .. or wait.. was it because i played it many many times.
Awesome 😈
Thats an odd version, mine was one of those tall EA ones with the yellow handle.
Haakon Anderson Maybe it depends on the country
A lot of games have re-releases manufactured by a different company, and that is why some are smaller while, I'm pretty sure the bigger fat/tall version with the yellow grip is the first batch of cart.'s atleast with ea, not sure about other companies. I know games made by Aklain have the shorter version for their games, like NBA Jam, and the stargate game.
Anthonypython UK had yellow handle EA games
did you find that in the jungle
When I was 10 I used to be able to finish the whole game in one sitting thanks to having nothing but time to memorize the entire game
Own all of them 😊
Is this the one where you can blow up the White House?
Nice siometric 3D perspective game, the only thing i hate about these type of games is the controls.
They were making another sequel called "Future Strike", but EA lost faith in the brand. I guess the series didn't sell so well on the Playstation. Mark should add links to the reviews he mentions in the end. Anyone agree?
What happened to you Electronic Arts? You used to be cool.
You forgot Urban Strike the sequel to Jungle Strike.
The best was nuclear strike on ps 1
Wasn't there an Urban Strike too?
Indeed there was, there were officially five games in the Strike series:-
Desert Strike, released in 1992.
Jungle Strike, released in 1993.
Urban Strike, released in 1994.
Soviet Strike, released in 1996.
and
Nuclear Strike, released in 1997 :) .
tanner1ie Great.......think I have Desert Strike on the Megadrive...up in the attic
I know I'm really late to this party but Urban Strike was my favorite of the Genesis trilogy.
Dude i did not know it came in a regular sized cartridge i thought it came in one of those EA big ass cartridges with the weird yellow thingie on the top....please tell me i'm not the only one who remembers those
I had a copy of General Chaos just like that
Strafe is the answer.
back again with the white vans
Damn Mark, you are turning 40 this year?
How does Soviet Strike compare?
It's interesting game...
I never made it passed the Snow Level
It's hard as nails when you get to the snow level using no cheats, three lives and trying to take down the M1 Abrams tanks or opposing choppers is near impossible
Mohammed is legend
Yeah that guy gave him the halo Xbox, 3do , and much more than just that those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
You forgot about _Urban Strike_
Ron Jeremy :D
You get in trouble for blowing up government buildings but you blow up the IRS building and no one cares XD
Dang, Muhammad from Qatar must be your best friend with everything he's sent to the show.
I remember it being a bit tough, but I don't remember it looking this crappy. It hasn't aged well, and I think Desert Strike actually looks better.
after watching mark play this i have renewed concern for UN peace keepers everywhere
ouya review please
More Mega Drive!!!
Broken many controllers with these Strike games, just way too difficult.
