During OU's previous 7 decades in the Big8 & Big12, OU was one of only 2 big fish in a small pond full of much lesser fish. That recruiting advantage is now gone. In the SEC, OU is now in a pond that has nine other big fish. Florida, Alabama, Auburn, A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Texas, & Tennessee are programs with big money, big fanbases, & enormous recruiting power. Going forward, OU's biggest challenge in the SEC is going to be recruiting against those 9 programs. Right now, OU's 2025 recruiting class is a mediocre #15 nationally, and it is ranked as the 10th-best group of recruits out of the sixteen SEC teams. If OU keeps recruiting at that level, OU fans will experience many more seasons of 7-6 w-l records and third-rate bowl games in the years to come. To avoid that, OU must find a way to recruit better than its SEC peers.
Their recruiting is perfectly fine. A top 15 class after a 6-6 season is fine. Florida, Auburn, A&M and Tennessee always get great recruits and rarely do anything with them. Once OU starts dominating like usual, the recruits and transfers will start piling in. Fans like you are embarrassing. A couple bad years and might as well just dissolve the program.
