The more I listen to Arbuckle the more I like him. I LOVE how he designs and calls plays to his players abilities and not so much a specific scheme. He calls plays on match ups. I think he can do great things at OU.
Big boss moves would mean stealing starters from another SEC team. That’s what needs to happen to become a contender next year. Texas continues to be ruthless this way.
The one exception to the rule that may help explain the pulling of scholarships is the unusual injury situation at WR that we had (and therefore, the return of some of the vets who were not coming back). This may be an explanation that HS coaches will understand to some degree.
i cannot believe the backfield as been down so much. rhamondre for a few games. Brookes was decent. at some point it would be nice to see ou have dominating backs again. hopefully a new system gets this ironed out. Xavier Robinson was a pleasant surprise

Jake Roberts played under Littrell at N. Texas and they paid that slug huge NIL and he was absolutely worthless. Then it was OU media who hyped up Bauer Sharp just because he made a few half decent catches in spring practice going up against newly freshmen.

Just like the 54 yarder to Brennan against LSU. The kid has talent no doubt. I've said it before it's just confidence. I mean imagine being a 5 star QB and when you become the starter you're told you're gonna have to be more of a runner because we have no O-Line or WRs.

It’s great to adapt to the talent you have. That works when you come into a situation. However, at some point you have to have an identity and recruit based on what you want to do. I don’t think Arbuckle has had to do that yet. We’ll see how it goes.

Everything that the NLI did, such as binding the student to the school and a recruiting ban being in place are now in NCAA legislation rather than a separate entity of the national letter of intent. They are now marked as signed within the ncaa database which signals the recruiting ban is in place.
Class seems to be quality over quantity... Reminds me of Clemson's approach. I think we're realizing that there's some upside in patching our issues via NIL offers out to 2/3 year starters. Also, BA has offered OSU's QB commit. For all his youth, he seems adept at development

Just watched them play my son's high school team at the alamo bowl game for the state playoff. Our Vandegrift team won. I was happy to watch their running back #28 but wasn't that impressed. I was impressed with their QB. Not sure the RB is OU material.
Arbuckles QB was ok against West Coast Conference teams but, even there he had issues with fumbles & INT'S, just like Jackson did! We DO NOT need John Mateer, we have Jackson! Coach him up & he'll be fine! Personally, the coaches failed him this year and some fans. Ought to be ashamed of themselves for ragging on him! I AM NOT wrong about this either, OUr D secondary coaches need to be replaced! Valai & Hall aren't the coaches for us! They have OUr guys giving to much of a cushion on the line! Another thing with the way players decommit, early signing day or signing day, means little to nothing at all!
Last year in the spring & in fall camp, multiple people had said Jackson Arnold was not well liked by a lot of players in the locker room. It has surfaced again that players in the locker room wish Jackson Arnold would move on.. The only QB that I knew of that was NOT liked by the players in the locker room was Spencer Rattler… we all know that was true and look how that turned out.. If your QB is not a leader & well liked & respected by the players.. then that QB is NOT a good fit.. and most definitely needs to move on..

I know it’s anecdotal, but in my experience you can always tell the direction the program is heading by the way shows like yours and others talk about recruiting heading into signing day or any other big recruiting days. I remember back in the early and mid 2000’s it was excitement about guys that might surprise and flip to OU or getting the top 2 players in the country in Adrian Peterson and Rhett Bomar. Then it felt like we lost a lot of that in the early 2010’s and were nervous on signing day about players decommitting and flipping on top of a class that was already less than stellar. We got some of that excitement back with Lincoln Riley with big names and late surprises, but now it feels like things have swung back the other way. You can tell signing day or whatever you want to call it, isn’t a day Sooner fans are excited about right now. A day where we find out what guys we were able to steal from other schools on top of the expected class. It feels like everyone is scared to death and waiting to find out how many guys we were able to stop from decommitting and flipping and how we’re going to salvage it. I guess to put it more bluntly, you can tell what the health of the program is by how everyone is feeling going into signing day. If they’re excited about signing day you’re probably heading in the right direction, but if everyone is nervous and worried it’s not going well.
I get your point but we've just got 6-6, 2-6 in conference play benched our starting QB 3 times over the season and fired our OC. I don't think the pre-signing day vibes is the main telltale sign it's a bit of a mess 😂
I respectfully disagree with keeping JA, he was recruited by Ex-OC Jeff Lebby and he (JA) seems to fold under pressure when it's crunch time. We've seen too many poor decisions from JA to properly evaluate that he's not where OU needs him to be at this time.

They're professional athletes. The money got too big basically. Once the TV contracts got involved it destroyed the amateur aspect of college atheletes.
I’m not happy nor proud that we did these two kids this way. You don’t tell a 17 year old kid we have a spot then you yank it last minute. If I were recruiting on UT or A&M etc…i’d remind the recruit that you can’t trust OUs word
From now on, I will pay very little attention to recruiting and commitments because none of it matters.

The recruiting proficiency of a coach will matter much less in the future. It'll be about opportunities and finances.
