Hey thanks for this. Yesterday (May 3 2024) I ordered an R8 after much research but was still wondering about 3rd party EF adapters, and had actually ordered the Canon brand as all the videos I'd seen were quite old and the question of whether Canon had somehow killed the 3rd party from working was a concern until I saw this relatively recent video. I ordered this Commlite adapter and received both R8 and the adapter today. I checked out several EF lenses on the R8 and one EFs lens as well, they all worked fine. Very fast focusing. No issues I could see. Thanks again!

this adapter has been on my camera since this video came out, and every video with photos was shot using this adapter. hence the reason i didnt overload this video with shots. if you want to see the quality. my instagram is linked on my channel. EVERY Photo on my instagram was shot while this adapter was on my camera.
just came across your channel , just got an r50 but now on a budget for lenses this would be great thanks for your review on money saving items, now subscribed
thank you, yes this is very affordable, and works great.
Thumbs up to you.
Thank you
Re; ef - rf adapter, does the Commilitie adapter cut down any light in the lens?
No there is no loss of light or focus at all. it works perfectly
New mirrorless owner. I will always be on a budget. Should I stick to EF lenses with this adapter?
if you are on a budget yes 100%, I use EF lenses and they work great, i know RF glass is much improved but for the price you can't beat an ef lens on an RF mount. Highly recommend
Absolutely, without a single thinking.
i just used this adaptor for 1 week, somehow it able link the AF between lens n body, somehow cannot.
there is few times it still not working even after unplug and replug. so tiring..
Oh man that sucks. Have you made sure that it fits nice and tight. Also make sure the contact points on your lens camera and adapter are all clean.
Is the Commilitie weather proof? thx again
Unfortunatley it is not Weather Sealed, There are some Like Canon and Meike but they are a bit up there in price.
Hi there, I have comlite adapter, but why it wont work with yongnuo 50mm 1.4 EF lens?. but it work with canon 24mm EFS lens. Do you know why?
no idea. i also have a yongnuo 50mm ef lens, and a 35mm yongnuo they both work fine, does it adapt to the mount? Are the issues you are having just connection issues as far as auto focus
@@JeffGresham I can’t do anything with that lens, as far as I know, it is not lens problem, because when I use the yongnuo to my 550D camera, it work fine with auto focus, aperture adjustment and everything. that is why I feel really weird about this situation. the only problem is when I want to use it with adapter into my R50 camera. no aperture adjustment, just manual focus, and you can’t even take picture or video with it.
@@kamalrusli3432 it has to be an issue with the lens.
Can i use this on an r50? Thanks
Yes you can! it will work on any RF mount camera.
HELP 😢 I recently bought a Sigma 50mm 1.4 EF lens. I have this commlite adapter, but I only adapted vintage lenses I had for an Eos M I solg long ago with dummy adapters. So I used the commlite adapter with vintage m42 lenses with m42 EF adapters and always adapted well with no resistence. But I cannot adapt the Sigma lens it offers some resistence, Im allignin the red dots and spinning tham clock wise loke I do with the dummy adapted vintage lenses , but it offers resistence. Am I doing something wrong? Do the Sigma EF lenses have something different? Can anyone help me pls?
There should be no issues when it comes to mounting Sigma EF lenses, as a matter of fact Sigma is ALL i use, and have no problems at all. So either you have the wrong adapter, or The Resistance is cause by a tight fit. The EOS M and EOS ef are different mounts, so if you adapted EOS M to that adapter chances are that its not made for EF mounts
@@JeffGresham then I dont understand what Im doing wrong. It is in fact Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART, canon mount, for EF mount. If I force the lens in the adapter and I adapt to my R5, I get no connection, the camera doesnt recognise the lens, cant even change the F value, its stuck at F00.... 😭
@@hugomouteira7015 are you sure the adapter is EF to RF? What camera are you adapting to?
Can you record a test, that would make a lot better content
im sure i could
