Great attitude, having owned blades I'd say you better not have reliability issues because customer service is very limited after purchase. If you're willing to have that risk I'd check a fully customized clevo. Depending on where you live it's often a great option for a value packed gaming laptop with killer specs.

watched your reviews for these- and bought the RB14, absolutely love it! The screen is incredible though idk if i’d want to game on it as a main gaming rig. For a single player game, 14 is fine, but for FPS games trying to see people at a distance with a smaller magnification sight can be difficult. I still think the 14 is perfect for me, the size and weight is perfect for work usage and casual gaming

I have chosen the 17th because of the following reasons : 1/ the largest screen, 2/ best performance, 3/ best upgradeability, 4/ most ports, and 5/ best audio. I gave preference to these while "living" with the larger body. I simply wanted to get a Windows laptop with clean "Macbook" design and top configuration, most power to the graphic card, 64GB of RAM and 8TB SSD space. I was also thinking about the 15th model, but the more information I was getting about it, the more I inclined to the 17th. Overall the 17th was simply the best choice for me (I only have to travel with bigger bag); having small portable laptop with only 16 gigs of RAM or bigger 15 inch laptop with limited SSD upgradeability and not very good audio, and also limited graphic performance, while paying almost the same price as for the 17 inch laptop, it simply made my choice ...

While I do love having the highest performance possible I always think I want something smaller when I go to move it around. I've been playing modern games at 1440p with settings at max quality, and getting buttery-smooth play with over 100 FPS using my all-AMD laptop hooked up to a big gaming monitor. But I also think that a 4K screen is wasted even at that size, when the difference vs a 1440p screen is barely noticeable for me personally.

Please for the love of God do not ever even consider buying a Razer laptop. In my 50 years, I have never experienced worse support from any type of company for any type of product, let alone a 4 grand laptop (on sale at that, was normally over 5K AUD)!
I am documenting every bit of my story, how they ignore everything you say in an email and go on robotic tangents, how they seem sweet but NEVER ever fix the issue.
In a nutshell, 2 months so far, 20 or so emails back and forth, it was sent off for repair after taking six weeks just to get an RMA number to do so, it came back with a ruined box, dirty laptop, only one of the two MAJOR faults repaired, and a basic windows 10 install with razer as admin - for a laptop that shipped with windows 11 which I will now need to buy a fresh USB drive to make an installer from and hope a manual install works, since they don't provide drivers for their latest models to download. it came worse than when I sent it. Zero respect. I wouldn't even touch the filthy keyboard till I cleaned with alcohol, seriously. We are in a pandemic.
This isn't even covering one percent of how bad it has been. If this problem had not happened, as the machine was great for the first seven months, I'd have no idea and would have bought one again. I thought they were a great, premium brand. And Jarrod is a top reviewer who will always be looked after, but I guarantee you any customer with a serious hardware faulty will likely experience the pain I have. Pain. I am putting together my story, I can't see any way out but small claims court at this stage, as it keeps getting escalated but I keep getting non humans not dealing with the issue.
I will give you an example. The latest email I just got from them said
"are you having performance problems with your returned razer product".
That's it. They ignored every single word and marked points I made explaining everything in detail. But I need all this as my proof anyway that I keep talking to them in clear detail and they never do anything.

You have to understand that for two entire months I have tried to be polite and courteous and thorough. I have literally snapped as I can not take it anymore. Imagine something so ridiculous that you feel like you will have a stroke. This is what has been happening to me. So you might think I am being nasty, but once I start my new reddit post with all the history you will see how desperately hard I have tried and that all they do is break a person.
This is the email that was the response to. This is an example why I think they are trolling me, as I try get help and they do zero. The correct answer would have been to start a plan of action to sort this out. I mean it's just too hard to believe almost, like they are stepford wives or something.
My email on the returned laptop that was supposedly repaired:
      "To whom it may concern,
I actually think RAZER are trolling me. This MUST be personal. After receiving feedback from Razer executives on Reddit that the way I have been treated is unacceptable, and they promised to improve it and it only gets worse and worse, this is a personal attack. It has to be. No one is this incompetent. No one.
If you don't read every word of this it is pointless as we will never get anywhere as nothing will ever be fixed. The only way is to read and understand EVERYTHING.
I physically can't bring myself to be nice anymore. There will be profanity and anger so if you can't cope with it, send it to somebody who can.
TWO MONTHS. TWO MONTHS since I reported the issue and it's still not fixed. The amount of disdain and disrespect you and your repair department has for the customer is breathtaking. Read each point below carefully. I don't know what to do from here, I am a sick person with multiple illnesses who just wants to enjoy his laptop which is his only source of entertainment. Why I put my funds and trust in Razer I have no idea, but it's a nightmare.
If you are unable to fix the laptop to be the same as when I bought it, then you have to authorise a refund or replace it with a newer model.
I am PHYSICALLY DRAINED from this. I should not have to be typing this letter, yet again (and believe me I have saved everything from day one). I can't see any other solution than going to small claims. Can you?
      1) The box. I wrapped the box with a layer of bubble wrap, so all labels and tape could be on the wrap and not damage the box in any way, which, when I sent it, was LIKE BRAND NEW.
I received back a laptop box with a few dents, no bubble wrap and severe amounts of thick tape all over it. As soon as I peel those the box is over.
Which means my PLANS of selling this piece of garbage the second I got it back fixed, in "as new" condition are now thwarted. I made a fuk***g point of putting the wrap on there and making sure no tape was touching the box. Now you have it in about 5 major spots and many inches of tape. The box is finished. It's over. Disgraceful! At the MINIMUM send me a brand new razer box. I have pictures proving this. The box is ruined.
      2) The laptop is filthy, full of little dot spit marks and fingerprints. Are your team incapable of giving something a wipe before sending it back? Especially in a time of a friggin pandemic?
      3) This laptop is a Windows 11 model. I explained MULTIPLE TIMES that creating a recovery USB was not working as per your site instructions. Of course, with my Lenovo, it just worked. But Razer's instructions are missing a step and it literally can not be done as there is NO step to provide the source of the recovery disk to the USB destination drive, which is the huge 18GB download I did. It just draws it from the OS instead and never references that 18GB recovery file, so the disc is made without proper drivers, Razer Synapse and such. Read your instructions and see for yourself. It can not be done with your current web instructions. I don't know how I can make this any clearer.
Well what have you team done? Instead of giving me a laptop back that I turn on, that has been restored to its original state, that I then set up with my account etc, they have given me a laptop back that has RAZER as administrator and is using WINDOWS 10. YES, WINDOWS 10. Nothing installed. NOTHING.
Just the basics. I have to do drivers and everything.
      And Windows 11.
Is this a joke? I want to restore the laptop as it came so I can sell the complete POS but even if I wanted to keep it, this is bey beyond unacceptable.
      4) The graphics corruption seems to be fixed, I will investigate further to make sure. Hooray! One out of two fixed.
      5) I have received the laptop back with the exact same locked 11800H cpu I sent it in with. Literally the entire reason I started the support request (the GPU corruption came a month later as a nasty surprise ) and you've sent the laptop back to me as is. SO EVERYONE with this laptop model can enjoy an unlocked CPU, but not me!
Cause that would have involved work and actually changing the motherboard and CPU. The entire reason for the initial repair and support. Nothing done.
I had an unlocked CPU for 7 months. It doesn't just lock after a reboot and never unlock again unless there is a fault. I do not buy laptops without unlocked CPU's, as it's the only way to control thermals and performance in such a thermally constrained system such as this, especially since I have told you 100 times, one can not control the fan speed in the high performance mode to cool things down. The fan speed can only be controlled in the lowest performance mode, balanced, which doesn't get hot anyway so it's pointless. Every single youtube professional reviewer has pointed this out and you just keep ignoring them, and me.
So the unlocked CPU is a way to lower multipliers to come to a compromise. I DO NOT WANT ANY LAPTOP WITH A LOCKED CPU AND I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT THE NEXT DAY IF IT WAS THAT WAY and this nightmare would have never happened. My goodness I wish I returned it in December.
You people are INSANE. It's like you are dragging this torture out and will make sure it goes over the warranty period without ever fixing it.
Why haven't you provide me, after 2 months, with a way to force restore the bios to see if that fixes the CPU lock issue? I keep asking to no avail.
I am in shock as I thought after 2 months you might actually fix it and give me my laptop back working as it was.
Disgrace does not even cover it.
So is this where we are at? Court? Or can you offer another solution?
I am almost certain I will win a small claim but that takes time and effort and I am sick, but if it comes to that, I will not let my principles be trampled on by an incompetent, selfish, disgusting excuse of a joke of a so called tech company.
This whole thing is a nightmare of YOUR making
How can you not be ashamed of yourselves?
      Pissed Customer"

My latest reply to "Drew" who gave me "is there something affecting the performance of your laptop" and ignored every word I said above :
"Drew, are you trolling me again now? I literally sent a detailed reply before this email, with all points that are wrong with the machine's return, numbered and presented, as well as the outrageous long history trying to get it fixed. By the time it is fixed if ever, it will be out of warranty and I won't be able to sell it for a decent amount. I want to rid myself of your company for MY LIFETIME. There is nothing I want more.
Once again Razer did not bother to read the email and you've sent me a generic response.
So once again in short form, in case that helps your unbelievable inept team understand better, I will make it as simple as possible.
I was promised the machine would be factory reset as it was not working here, I explained why in full. Instead, I got a machine back with the wrong OS, windows 10 instead of the windows 11 it shipped with, and a basic install with a RAZER administrator I can not change.
Not even basic drivers are installed. You literally downgraded my entire friggin OS.
The pristine box that the machine shipped in, that I kept in brand new condition and which I sent bubble wrapped with all sticky tape on the wrap and not the box, has come back without the wrap and instead labels and thick strong sticky tape all over it. It is RUINED. How dare they instead send it back with bubble wrap like I sent it to you?
The machine came back filthy. Very nice in a pandemic. NOT. I have had to thoroughly clean it with isopropyl alcohol. I wouldn't even dream of touching that keyboard with the spit and fingermarks all over it.
The biggest thing of all, the machine has not had the main problem fixed that was started as a support case TWO MONTHS AGO. I made it clear it had to be fixed or do not send it back. Incredible. I mean you can NOT make this stuff up.
Are you trying to push me to that point of no return, just keep trolling me, driving me insane and pretending not to read what I say and just go on a tangent, until I just lose my proverbial s**t and uncontrollably swear so you can have an excuse to put all the blame on ME and call me an unreasonable customer or something? As that is what it seems like.. I can't understand it, how I keep giving you detailed human explanations and I never get a proper reply.
Of course the performance is affected, the unlocked cpu has locked itself so the temperatures are insane where as before I had it a cool 80 degrees, now it regularly hits 100 degrees in high performance mode. I was able to lower the multiplier to 37 instead of 42 and that solved problems whilst still giving me great performance that was way better than balanced mode which drops to base clock under load and is useless for any serious tasks, and now I can't cause the bios or CPU is corrupted. After 7 months of perfect performance the machine screwed up out of nowhere, and you DID NOT FIX IT. This was the entire basis of the support query.
You made it worse as at least I had all my apps and the correct OS installed and a box in perfect condition before I sent it! Now it has come back more broken than when I sent it. This is just stuff out of a Stephen King novel. This can't be real and Razer can't be this bad.
I can't take this anymore! I FEEL like I am going to have a stroke. I have been seeing red every reply I get for two months as it's almost always 100% nonsense. Put me on to someone who has ANY modicum of competence, PLEASE. Surely, ONE such person must exist.
      Just stop the nonsense!"
I mean I want to have it fixed and sell it.. I tell you guys what, if the day comes, when the survival of the universe depended on my buying a Razer product again, I would let the Universe burn, cause that's how badly razer have burnt ME!

They have replied, escalating again and telling me a new person has taken over. She asked me to provide pics to her of the dents on the laptop (WOW) which proves they just don't read what you say, and she finished with, "what is a locked CPU"?
I am not kidding. "CPU suddenly locked after 7 months" is the title of the support query, and she doesn't even know what it is.
My final reply,. I can't take it anymore, I am going to court if they don't act. I have had it. And I will make sure to have it publicised if I win, somehow, as people need to know.
"Where did I say the unit had dents.
      WHERE DID I SAY THAT?
ALL I WANT IS FOR YOU TO READ WHAT I ACTUALLY WRITE.
      This is unbelievable.
Come on, show me where I said that? Support keeps getting escalated and everyone is as bad as the one before.
I said the laptop arrived dirty with spit and fingermarks which I thought was unhygienic during Covid.
I said the BOX, which I bubble wrapped so no sticky tape would go on the actual box, when I SENT it to repair, came back without the bubble wrap, with tape all over the box that has completely ruined it so I can no longer sell the laptop in "like new condition", and the BOX also has crush dents now because of lack of bubble wrap. Of that I do have a video. At minimum apart from changing either the motherboard and CPU or whatever is required, you owe me a brand new box.
I said they gave it back to me without the proper operating system installed, they installed windows 10 with a razer admin account, I am supposed to turn on the computer and be able to create my account and as it came, with windows 11. What this means is they left it in the repair OS state and never reset it for me to consumer state with the OS the laptop came with when I bought it. I told them my laptop restore was not working it kept giving an error and they PROMISED they would fix this. How is this not a HUGE issue? What, I am expected to manually make a windows 11 installer, install it fresh, and somehow find all the right drivers? Razer doesn't even offer driver download on your site for this model!
And a locked CPU is one where the multipliers can not be changed and the CPU can not be undervolted ( I didn't undervolt anyway, but I need multiplier access to create various performance modes). The laptop arrived with all multipliers able to be controlled and even undervolting unlocked.
i.e. the 11800H CPU, which is unlocked in all brands of all laptops, and was in my razer too (and the same CPU is unlocked in my Lenovo 7i)
has a multiplier of 42 when all 8 cores are in use. The bus is 100mhz so 42x100 is 4200 MHZ. That is far too much for the pathetic cooling system in the Razer to handle, cause the fans spin up way too slow, so it hits 100 degrees which is ridiculous, even on a cooling pad. I set my multipliers to 37 for 3.7ghz, which gave me very good performance still and no thermal throttling. Should I be working at Razer? It sounds like I understand tech much better than anyone there. I have explained that this could be alleviated if Razer allowed the fan to manually be set at full speed when in high performance mode but razer only allows auto fan control in this mode which is VERY slow. Yet, Razer allows manual fan control in the LOW performance mode called "balanced", which never gets hot ANYWAY as it has a very low power limit. Every darn reviewer of laptops on UA-cam has pointed this out as a huge flaw, as well as myself, ten times now, and it keeps being ignored. Your fan control mode is BACKWARDS. it should be enabled for the performance mode. Watch any Razer Jarrod's Tech review for a visual explanation with video. He is the best laptop reviewer online and has mentioned it time and time again.
In the absence of fan control, lowering multipliers so the CPU hits a lower top speed, alleviates all performance and heat issues. One day my laptop stopped allowing me to do that at the hardware level which means a motherboard or CPU fault, or a bios corruption which may have happened when I had a blue screen problem one time. Maybe, as I have also said over 10 times now, forcing the very latest bios to fresh re-install could fix it, but I can't find a way to do that. If that doesn't fix it, it's a hardware fault. Everyone else on planet earth using this laptop has an unlocked CPU, all my friends do, and I did too.
How many times do I have to explain this? Have you gotten this now? Or do I need to simplify it further a fourth time? I don't think I can.
Do you know HOW MUCH time I have spent on emails and conversation for two months now? I can't do it anymore. I can't. I can not. I have chronic fatigue and a severe back injury. I can't do this. Fix it once and for all and have the laptop come back to me, AS I bought it, whatever it takes, whatever parts you need, or refund me, or do something, or I am going to small claims. I have had it. It's as simple as that.
I actually can't take it anymore"
And yep, I can't take it anymore. I am over it. We will see what happens

The Razer 14 is my pick and my next labtop. Portability and battery life is a must when using it for more than just gaming. I’m not looking for a desktop replacement. I need something good enough and great battery life. I do like two M.2 slots because I use one ssd for Linux but I don’t want an Intel labtop. I need Better battery life. 15” with i9 & 3070 ti ($2100) OLED ver
    17” with i9 & 3070 ti ($1800)

id say the best choice for a laptop is :
15.6 inch display 60hz-120hz or higher than that requires a lot of gpu power ( for games ) which needs a powerful gpu and that is not ideal for most people cuz those laptops are very expensive.
most ppl cant even go above 1500USD. 60HZ is good for work and school plus some casual gaming but 120HZ ( or higher ) would at least need a 3060 or a 3070 to get the best out of the monitor. laptops with 3060 or 3070 could be as expensive as 2000 USD
also finding a bag or backpack for a 17 inch laptop is a drag. you can find amazing products for 15.6 laptops
    EDIT :
i would also say that 1080p is the best resolution for laptops. higher is better of course but youd have to have a high end gpu to use a high res monitor. also they would eat your battery which is a bad point for portability. who says a 15.6 display isnt enough or isnt beautiful if its 1080p ?

No you will not get more FPS just because you switched monitors. The refresh rate is the Maximum the screen can do. the way i look at it is that the system basically throws as many frames at the monitor as it is able to do. the monitor's refresh rate is how quickly it can deal with each frame. if it receives 180 frames per second but the refresh rate is 144hz it will throw out 36 of the 180 frames every second since it does not have the speed to show all of the 180 frames. with a 240hz monitor it will easily handle 180 frames per second, and will even spend time not doing anything as it is just waiting for the next frame to arrive.

You have to pay the Razer tariff but they have a great resale value compared to other gaming laptops, that's that ...

The most haunting thing about Razer is even if it's possible that laptops could go smaller than 14" it'll still be more expensive than any other high-end laptops as big as 17" from other brands.

Smaller laptops tend to be more expensive than larger laptops anyway (assuming similar specs) because they have to pack more in a smaller place

You do know that your not just buying computers for the cost of the materials used? Right?

15 and 17 are way big for me. So I'm going for either Blade 14 or Stealth 13

What are your thoughts about the best option for gaming laptop to use with external monitor most of the time ?

    • @AlejandroLZuvic
      @AlejandroLZuvic 2 роки тому

I suppose if you're connected to an external monitor anyway you could have the smallest laptop available and take advantage of its size when moving around. But if you really won't be moving around then the bigger sizes would be probably more powerful.
