Had to do a dash on a 1980 GMC years ago, so can relate to contact cement and compound curves and one piece of material. Good to have was those helping hands. Cheers

Now that it's been a couple years. How is the wrap doing? I'm working on door panels, dash, center console, ect. I tried some fabric that has a backing like what you used (vinyl with the white threading). That didn't last two days before it started pealing up. Yes, I used Weldwood contact cement. Then I ordered some actual automotive vinyl. Some of it was worked and stayed in place. Other parts lasted about a week and stared pealing from the edges. Some of it has pealed from the center. So I'm lost in the whole deal. More just pissed off more than anything.
Anyway, You do did a jam-up job on it!! Much better than the spray paint and MUCH better than me.

It looks really good. A lot better than the spray painted black door panels. I have one question though. Was there a reason that you didn’t cut out the speaker part? Or would that have messed things up since it’s all one piece?

Use poly heat activated contact cement. It will allow you to work in sections. No sticky mess and you dont need a helper.

I love these videos! I am also working on a 1996 GMC SIERRA 1500. Where did you get those seats? Or are they original to this truck? Thanks!

What vinyl did you use? There are several different kinds with different backing.

Would have been nice to know how you prepped the panel before applying the material, also would have been nice to have the camera placed so we could see what you were doing rather than look at the back of the vinyl, and guess at what you were doing. But such is life.

That glue is super nasty and I wasn't sacrificing it for the glue getting all over my camera if it's 2 close but you wouldn't understand that from your keyboard. Also have ever sprayed this glue? That shit gets every where....
