  • Smart Parts ion shooting video that is ripping with a Firebolt, black heart board, CP regulator, Redz ASA and Rail combo, and matching Redz Feedneck.
    This came in without a barrel, but I put on my insert back Stella with .689 front.
    The D3Fy level 1 Paint that came in Orange/Orange fill is shooting very well for the price.
    This was shooing 280 FPS at 140 PSI.
    Stock body, breach, and frame. I believe the exo frame is a Warrior body.

    Over my years I had a stock one, a dynasty one,a SP-8, an epiphany, a vibe, a SP-1.

      Such an iconic marker. I’m sure I could put together a couple from parts around my office. 😂

    Man......I remember when everyone was using those. Looks like you made a good gun great 👍🏾.

      Cheap with eyes and good on air… It was revolutionary for the time.
      Thank you :)

      How do they stack against modern guns similar price range ?

      An ion? A pain in the butt to work on but once you get used to it it’s not bad. Someone on the FB group made new armatures so that’s not an issue any more. I would rather have an og axe or gtek though.

    I spent too much on my Ion. Ramp board the whole nine's. Favorite was my stripper grips lol.

    I still have mine. The only thing I'm worried about is the solenoid since I haven't used it for years. I was thinking about busting it to check it and maybe do a couple of mods. Maybe Dremel out the stock cover to make the bolt accessible out the back.

    • @RepairPaintball
      @RepairPaintball  2 роки тому +3

      The armature in the solenoid is the part that goes bad. Those can be replaced. If you make a semi bolt out back body you have to also modify your frame so you can unscrew the air fitting as well as the rear frame screw, then you have to unscrew the can from the firing chamber. Almost not worth it. Once you get maintenance down, it’s not that bad to just drop the frame and work on it that way.

      @@RepairPaintball I heard that even the replacement armatures were leaking. Is there a way to get a good one still?

    • @RepairPaintball
      @RepairPaintball  Рік тому

      New old stock is still old. OG smart parts armatures are all old at this point haha. I have not heard anything bad about the new ones though.

    • @Spladoinkal
      @Spladoinkal Рік тому

      @@RepairPaintball Makes sense. So as far as you're aware, buying a "New old stock" armature is still a safe purchase?

    • @RepairPaintball
      @RepairPaintball  Рік тому +1

      @Spladoinkal it’s a gamble with new old stock. Stored correctly they will work. Stored improperly they will just crumble.
      There is a guy on the FB groups selling new ones he made himself.

    Do you have any links for the parts used in this video? I'm trying to restore my ion

      No online retailer is going to have new parts for Ions any more. FB BST groups and ebay are your best bet.
