Make Letters
Duplicate
PATH - Object to Path
OBJECT - Ungroup
(Format letters, and pick back letter)
Lower selection to bottom
(select both letters)
Duplicate
PATH - Intersection
(This only seems to work with no more than 2 letters at a time)
Arrange back on copied letters to missing spot
Select Top Letter
PATH - Break Apart
Nodes Tool
Select desired piece, and BOTTOM Letter
PATH - Union (places piece behind)
Select desired piece, and TOP Letter
PATH - Difference (places piece on Top)
