I'll never forget the Purdue Duke game. My wife and I were in Brown County Indiana. I was a senior at Purdue. We took a break from hiking because I wanted to watch the game. She on the other hand did not want to watch the game and she gave me something else to do. Our son is glad she didn't want to watch Joe Barry and Purdue.
Solid career. It's tough getting traded for future hall of famers . I recall The Warriors trading Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens, that was an interesting move. Some say Kobe getting traded for Divac was the heaviest. Ps The Knicks had a chance to sign Kareem.
When Robert Parish was with GS he had pretty much the same reputation as Joe Barry. Boston was a career changer for Parish. What would Carroll's career been like if he had played with Larry Bird and the Celitcs?
Robert Parish spent 4 seasons @ Golden State….. He should’ve made the all star team his 3rd season (78-79). He averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds a game…. He had some injuries his last season with the Dubs before being traded…. He was good on GS though…. He just did have a strong supporting cast to help him other than Phil Smith who got hurt…. Parish gave Kareem fits early in his career but his best battles were against Jack Sikma when he was on Seattle…. Those two went at it hard back in the day. Did bs problems back then was clearly weak and bad ownership… the worst in the league actually…. If Franklin Mueli could’ve gotten away with paying his players peanuts 🥜.. he would’ve done it…. He was Charlie Finley cheap…. The owner sets the tone for the entire team…
I remember my Pops calling him "Joe Barely Cares" in the mid 80s. That nickname really stuck and it's what many old heads immediately think of when his name comes up now. We never even really got to see him play because his games were never televised nationally either, so it wasn't like anyone really ever defended him either.
The most lopsided trade in the history of sports Bernard King, Robert Parish, and Kevin Mchale the could of been front court for the Golden State Warriors !

@@gswguy4554 just a little history here. Meuli wasn’t a horrible owner, he just wasn’t rich. This was a transition period in the nba, and it was right about the time you started seeing deep pockets owners getting into the biz. Meuli held on for a few years by selling off good players (he really didn’t have the money to pay Parish who was just breaking out), but it wasn’t long before he saw the writing on the wall and sold the team.
@@mysterirhys If he wasn’t a bad owner he certainly wasn’t very good either? He wasn’t a good owner and the EXACT opposite of Lacob and Gruber ( current Dubs owners).
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Seahawks fan too. I really wanted the Seahawks to take a flier on Charlie Ward! I figured, he played at Florida State, won a national championship, and won the Heisman. He HAS to pan out in the NFL! And, the Seahawks were always in need of a QB, back then.
I just have one question; why is Brandin Podziemski wearing Joe Berry Carrol's numbet? Did you know the Warriors could've also drafted Larry Bird but instead drafted Pervis Short?
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. The Blazers picked Mychal Thompson #1 overall, instead of Larry Bird! Sam Bowie, needs no introduction. The Sonics could have drafted Tom Chambers, but picked Danny Vranes. Portland picked LaRue Martin over Bob McAdoo, and after 4 rookie bust years, traded Martin to Seattle for future considerations. Seattle waived him. It was very considerate of Seattle to take Martin off of Portland's hands. The Blazers are SUCH village idiots with top picks (Greg Oden over Kevin Durant, too), in 1992, if Portland had the #1 overall pick, they would have drafted LaPhonso Ellis or Adam Keefe!
It seems like the WARRIORS had issues partly because of George Karl, who was not a pleasant person to work with and failed to create a team with good chemistry. It's interesting to note that this person did not mention that Joe Barry Carroll had a Master's degree in economics from Purdue University, showing that basketball was not his only focus.

I was looking for a Joe Barry Carroll doco two days ago. Nothing. Now this. Doing Gods work my friend.
Great video to talk about Joe Barry Carroll. I hope you upload the career of Norm Nixon. Keep it up.
Great channel and players selection. Thanksssss

What you’re forgetting is that the owner Franklin Meuli didn’t have the resources to keep those guys.

Great job Joe 🎉😅❤❤💯🙏💯
Keep these coming. All are great
This is a great untold story
Good stuff as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it
Greatest anti nickname I’ve ever heard 😂
Good video and very fair.
Good one. If I have a request and it may seem unusual, but Charlie Ward.
Wish he committed to football

For a 4,5 year stretch he was right up there with Kareem so he not a bust really. First 7 seasons he was between 15 to 24 points a game😊
Right up there with Kareem. What in the world are you talking about?
Perhaps the most infamous nickname....

An ironic thing is that since the trade the celtics have won 4 titles and the warriors have also won 4 titles so in a way it came out even!
I didn't know he was born in my hometown (Pine Bluff, Arkansas)

Need a new narrator
I figured i had time to waste like this dude he was a lazy mf he would fit perfectly in the league now.
With nicknames like Just Barely Carrol or Joe Barely Cares...
Joe Barely Cares. That was his downfall.
UCLA proved how soft he was in 1980 semis. Even I could see that 🎉
joe" barely" cares. YEP i remember that
Joe barely cares.
Joe Barely Cares
