Mine soaked up water, it's open cell foam, others continued to cure and leaked foam all over the decoys and other items. Might be able to paint the foam?

Unfortunately the foam will not properly cure, also it's not closed cell and will waterlog eventually.
Take a torch and melt some plastic from a old oil bottle or 5 gal bucket. If you have a sauter iron you can plastic weld them back up with the same oil bottle.

I just cut the bottom off and use it for field decoys.

Melt a zip tie and use it like your welding will creat a good water seal

How many you think it will take to fill a goose decoy

I would think that one can could do a goose decoy but I haven't tried it myself.

Hey man, I bought some old mallards and I'm painting them into scoters for a budget decoy spread. Did you have any trouble with the foam not expanding? I used the same stuff as you did but i sprayed probably 1/4 can in a single decoy and it still sounds/feels hollow. Any ideas?

Ty Harkness put a piece of damp paper towel inside the decoy through one of the holes... the foam needs moisture to expand effectively.

Make sure you get non-porous expanding foam. The foam that you use for your home is full of holes will become water sword

I’m going to try this on some of my decoys. We’ve had a great season, but some of my decoys have paid the price.

Dicks Sporting Goods has Hardcore Economy Mallards for 29.99 for a dozen, pretty good deal to replace as there alittle under 3 bucks per decoy! I buy Higdon foam filled because they are the cheapest foam filled and you will not worry with them sinking or cracking because they are solid foam inside. Anyways this is a great way to fix them and make them foam filled!

Appreciate it man. I've been buying used decoys off of people for a while now, couldn't tell you the last time I bought any new. Might eventually have to get some foam filled Higdon decoys though, they are nice.

The Quack Addicts yea I love mine, don't worry about any new decoys till the paint runs off the Higdon and then you can repaint
