I take my negative comment back. This video makes sense: by giving quick, annoyingly simple but ineffective instructions RainX builds a rage in its customers. This rage enables one to muster the strength to remove the obsolete yet still pre installed adapter as well as rip the old wipers off the j-hook, and then slam the new ones in place. Excellent psychology RainX!
It's not as easy as they make it look, that's for sure! I used needle nose pliers. Grab as much of the clip as you can, and give a couple strong pulls. Note where the opening of the clip is, so that you're pulling in the right direction.
I was able to finesse it with both hands in approx. 30 seconds. Key is as the guy below says, need to push against the piece towards the opening. If the opening inst lined up correctly the force you exert will be wasted.
The linked video in my reply solves the issue of removing the preinstalled adapter. But my problem turned out that the universal adapter isn't so universal, as I found out when trying to install the blade...impossible. I had to use the origianl adapter afer several curse words later. ua-cam.com/video/DvZZsQK97qE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Rain-XProducts
I cannot for the life of me get this pre installed adapter off. What the hell were you guys thinking with this shit just put both adapters in the packaging and let me decide which one gets stuck on.
The pre installed adapter did NOT just pop off! Instead it took over 30min. Finally with the help of a screwdriver it finally popped off! That was the most frustrating thing.
Thanks it helped me. I didn't know which side the adapter goes and the direction of the wiper blade. I watched your video 2 times to figure this out. Thanks.🙏
The little thing on the adapter that looks like a flat head screwdriver end lines up with the smaller hole and then read this. Here's how to do it do everything he says but don't put the large adapter piece onto the wiper that clicks into place instead put the J hook around the adapter until it almost covers the middle hole (at the beginning of the hole) on the wiper and then with the J hook hooked push the adapter piece down until it clicks and then reef the wiper all the way until its secure. This is the only way I could do it.
Check if your car has a LARGE J hook or a SMALL J hook. I spent so much trying to remove the adapter only to find that my car has a small J hook and all I didn’t have to remove it after all.
I am using the preinstalled hook for corrola 2018 rather than exchanging it with the spare one comes with Rain-X conventional blade. It fits and works. I do not know if exchanging the hook is necessary.
Either they are ovwr smart or i m dull. lol. I have seen many times and unable to find how to takeout that adapter and whats the need to take out, if its necessary then why you pre installed😢😢
I've watched this video 10x and still can't figure out how to put the wiper on. When I put the "J Hook" through the connector thing, this video doesn't detail which side of the thing the arm goes through. Which direction is the wiper facing? Which side of the plastic piece does the "J Hook" arm connect to? Need up close video of it with the 10 steps.
The adapter came off when I broke out the heavy artillery in terms of tools. About a half hour total but the instructions on the package didn't say anything about putting the new clip on before installing the wiper on the J Hook. Also you should say that the large end of the adapter is on the hood or ground side of the wiper arm. Man do I miss the days of the old all metal Anco blades that took a minute.
Omg....I have to pause and rewind on the “insert the wiper blade into the J hook” at least 20 times. You really should pause and show in DETAIL which way the little plastic thing is positioned and then repositioned and in detail which way the blade starts and then gets flipped. If you think there is only one way to put all this together I guess I need to make a video, “ DO NOT do it this way...or this way...or this way!” Geez!
I pushed mine down tilted a little bit so it went in at a slight angle. Still had to push harder than it looked here but was easier than straight doen for me. 😅
Is the J hook arm sliding onto the side with the little tab which faces the little hole? (Edit post install: No. The J arm will slide onto the little plastic thing, on the “big hole” side). P.S. it will snap on but with a good tug, you’ll be able to pull it off.

00:44 Good idea to protect your windshield with something while there's no blade installed on the exposed j hook. If that thing accidentally slips from you and slams the windscreen it can crack it.
For anyone having trouble with the removal of the pre-installed adaptor, don't bother with their instructions. Their other video on this is much better. Simply stick a small screwdriver through the side hole and spin the thing and it pops off in 5 seconds
The video needs to explain that the piece that is on the hook when you remove the old blade needs to be removed then you will see a hook then follow the rest of the videoe. 😂😂
I don’t understand why in the hell these things can’t just have a simple universal click installation instead of dealing with j hooks and all this other nonsense….auto manufacturers seem to link to make even the simplest things needlessly difficult so that we pay someone else to do it. Racket.

"It's that simple, you're done!" That will be the bane of my existence. The pre-installed clip is too damn hard to get off!

@@richardjoyce1 thank youuu it was a struggle
If we're going to just remove it why the hell do you pre-install it?
I cannot for the life of me get this pre installed adapter off. What the hell were you guys thinking with this shit just put both adapters in the packaging and let me decide which one gets stuck on.

Yea, me too!
There’s no way he didn’t spend some time removing it and then putting it back on before recording this BS instructional video
It doesnt come off!
I got it off no problem was a little confusing but I got it after 5 minutes
That thing popped off when I was taking the blade out the packaging😭
Why is there a pre installed adaptor ?
Thanks it helped me. I didn't know which side the adapter goes and the direction of the wiper blade. I watched your video 2 times to figure this out. Thanks.🙏

Thank you for this video, was very helpful in me needing to replace my wipers.
This adapter wasn’t included despite the box claiming so.
Check if your car has a LARGE J hook or a SMALL J hook. I spent so much trying to remove the adapter only to find that my car has a small J hook and all I didn’t have to remove it after all.
What is the difference between a large j hook and a small j hook
I am using the preinstalled hook for corrola 2018 rather than exchanging it with the spare one comes with Rain-X conventional blade. It fits and works. I do not know if exchanging the hook is necessary.

Large J hook adapter did not work on a Jetta IV. The rectangle is much bigger on the end of the j hook.
“Be sure the LITTLE hole is to the...” RIGHT OR THE LEFT?
(Edit post install: The little hole faces on the bottom closest to windshield).
Nope, didnt work. Would help if the video was a little clearer to see which side of the clip is closest to the j hook
this video saved our lives ty
My wiper didn’t come with any adapters!
The adapter came off when I broke out the heavy artillery in terms of tools.
About a half hour total but the instructions on the package didn't say anything about putting the new clip on before installing the wiper on the J Hook.

I meant it took a half hour to remove the old wiper blade.
How does one know if they have a large J hook or small J hook??? 2011 Hyundai Sonata , replacing 18" wiper
To remove the pre-installed adapter I used a pair of needle nose pliers and it came off in 1 second.
Omg....I have to pause and rewind on the “insert the wiper blade into the J hook” at least 20 times. You really should pause and show in DETAIL which way the little plastic thing is positioned and then repositioned and in detail which way the blade starts and then gets flipped. I can't get the original adaptor off.
My trouble was getting the new adapter on. Just wouldn't work!
I had to use pliers to get the old one off AND the new one on.
Fingers bruised and nearly bleeding from trying to "firmly press it on"
I pushed mine down tilted a little bit so it went in at a slight angle. Still had to push harder than it looked here but was easier than straight doen for me. 😅

I only got this done because of you haha.
Thanks! This is so helpful!
God bless you
the pre installed adapter doesn't pop off so easily
You ain't lying sir. Took me 30min to get it off
IMPORTANT: You do NOT have to remove the pre-installed adapter if you have a SMALL J-hook (the kind with a hole in it).
The preinstalled adapter didn't just pop off like in the video, however, I was able to use pliers to twist them off in about 2 seconds
oh god, how to remove pre installed adapter. i saw 9 times still cant fig it out.
Is it necessary to use a windshield wiper adapter? If so why?
Rip man
Hope you figured it out Fr. It’s necessary to use an adapter because you might have a different wiper arm than the default adapter.

+1. I definitely always gently put mine back down til I'm 100% ready to go.
For anyone having trouble with the removal of the pre-installed adaptor, don't bother with their instructions. Their other video on this is much better. Simply stick a small screwdriver through the side hole and spin the thing and it pops off in 5 seconds
OMG! Thank you. Its came off like you said 5 seconds!👍👍👍💯
@@zyria9000 No problem! It took me forever my first time!
Duuuuuude! Took me 20 minutes of trying their way 😂 Thank you!
how
which side hole
The video needs to explain that the piece that is on the hook when you remove the old blade needs to be removed then you will see a hook then follow the rest of the videoe.

Was easy to install, thanks, happy with the product
Took 30 mins with stupid adapter thing you guys put in it.
I wish there were other wipers than rainx these days. Not easy at all, and the instructions are weak at best.
“That simple”
Never again buying this brand
