Wait, did youtube suggestion algorithm FINALLY suggest something I wanted to see? I had NO IDEA this existed. Are there any plans to make other ships playable, or does the game engine not allow it?
@@owobi_2991 not dead, not abandoned. but the fanbase it spawned have now gone on to start many many other freespace 2 mods, and so they do not have as many ppl working on it as they used to. However, there are still edits being made. The forums died in 2020, but the discord is thriving. The projects they do range from Wing Commander remakes to more Battlestar content, Babylon 5 stuff, star wars stuff and more
So you mean to tell me that this engine (which was released in 1999 if the internet is informing me correctly) made space dogfights work in a way very similar to what I've seen in Star Citizen, except more than 10 years earlier and it can actually run on my computer ? HOW DIDN'T I HEAR OF THAT SOONER ??
This is a conversion for Freespace 2 called Diaspora, it's long dead, and was when I uploaded this video all those years ago. It's still a blast to play! Just a google for "Diaspora freespace 2" ought to get you there.
The dradis screen is wrong. The HUD feels unfamiliar… the response rate is too fast… Yeah, thats me nitpicking over something to avoid crying over how amazingly made it was, missing the glory days of Battlestar Galactica Online… and the family I've met there. enano, Kitty69, Dragon7333... DGnator... EduBear... Wherever you are… I miss you, folks…
Some Triple A game studio needs to develop a game like this. That would be dope as hell.

As far as I can recall, Diaspora is long dead and abandoned, which is indeed quite sad.
