Scammers trying Buy my Immaculate V8 Jaguar Xf for scrap. Avoid getting scammed when selling your car...Always have at least 1 other person with you !!!!!
This happened to me . I had an old BMW 520d with very high mileage. I thought I would get a £1000 pounds for it. I gave it a new MOT and fixed the PAS belt. Someone viewed the car distracted me while his friend squirted the oil. He then convinced me the head casket had blown. But he said he would buy the car for the body. I sold it to him for £300. When I found out I was scammed I was so anger I felt like tracking him down to get my revenge. But I calmed down after a few days. Well done for putting up this video and spreading awareness.
I was scammed yesterday afternoon by two guys who turned up to my house. As friendly as they were, it just didn't feel right and what was happening didn't make sense. Oil all over the engine and black oil in the water reservoir, no unusual smoke coming out of the back of the car! It just didn't add up. I ended up selling the car for £900 instead of £2300. As soon as I got back into the house, I just had to look at the CCTV footage and sure enough I'd caught it all on camera. I prepared a statement of fact about what happened and related it to the CCTV footage with time stamps etc, I also made a statement of fact. I caught the car that they arrived in on CCTV as well. I have their faces on CCTV. Waiting for the police to call me back. Well done for creating your video, these people must be stopped and punished.
Just happened to me trying to sell my van, exactly the same tactics and got suspicious when the haggled to to reduce price, most of them seems to be middle europe or east
Just play them at their own game and have a friend with you when you are selling a car, .....just have your mate standing at the engine bay keeping an eye on them , so if you are distracted by getting things pointed out to you at the back of the car it's a bit tricky for them to start messing about in the engine bay if your mate is right with them.
Good video. 2 guys in an Audi tried this on my x5. Thought something was suspect. Informed the police, got them on cctv adding oil to the exhaust and they still want to collect the car… I want to set up a trap if the police are interested. They put oil all over the engine block too so need a new header tank and engine block clean. Think they might have added water to the oil too for a full story. They tried to show me slime on the oil cap, but IMO was nothing there, suggests they sabotaged that too though.

In the end i decline their stupidly low offer but they still called me with different numbers in the next few days. Going to report that to the police soon and i hope that everyone will know this trick. Ps: still got a bit of smoke from the exhaust. Car is sent to the garage to have engine oil flush and coolant flush today. Hopefully everything is Ok
