Rare 1969 Mustang GT 390 Coupe Owner Paul discusses saving and preparing to restore

Check out Paul Schrek's other 1969 GT 390 Mustang, this one is a coupe in Meadowlark Yellow with blacked out hood treatment and loaded with options. Factory AC, Power steering and Disc Brakes, tilt away steering wheel with rim blow, console, vinyl top, AM FM, C6 automatic and of course a 9" Ford rear end.
Paul found this one sunken in to the ground in the Sacramento area before rescuing this rare car. Paul has plans to put this one back to factory condition just like his 1969 GT 390 Sportsroof.

I'm a proud 1969 mustang owner too. You just can't always get lucky to acquire that car anymore. You found one in pretty good condition.

Just a few weeks ago I bought a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 unexpectedly. It is a former LAX car and came to me via Illinois where unfortunately it was left outside for the past 15 years. That owner did almost not preventive maintenance or maintenance in general while owning it. The door seals had dried out and the doors now have rust bubbling at the bottoms of both. The car is an original 390 car and has a complete shaker air cleaner. The hood hinges seized up and the former owner finally had a mechanic replace the hinges once he bent the original hood. Basically I'm just going to replace all the bolt on sheet metal. However after buying the car I drove it home from Illinois into Wisconsin 60+ miles. On a nice 85 degree sunny day I learned that the owner also never fixed the heater that was stuck wide open on high heat. Controls were non-responsive. The last thing is really why I'm writing this. The car has the tilt-a-way steering but the steering wheel was stuck in the up position. Having not owned a tilt car I wasn't all that familiar with it. You video showed me that the tilt is controlled mechanically controlled by the turn signal. I didn't know it and the previous owner didn't either since he drove it that way for 15 years. As soon as I got home from work I walked out and bingo the steering wheel went from truck driver position to a more reasonable position. Thanks for the tip in the video. Keep up the good work.

That's wild, my former boss is from Placerville. That's WAY up north, near Sac I think? She was big into cars, she probably knew of this car.

I have had some made but they were all hand silk screened old school style not digitally printed so I didn't order a bunch. I did just have some cool iron on patches made that fit perfectly on hats and shirt pockets though.
