One of the greatest and most meaningful video game franchises to me, while I still will always prefer KH2 for its legendary gameplay, Kingdom Hearts 1 will always be a unique and ambitious game that hasn't aged a day in over 20 years. Excellent video JP, keep it up!
I fell in love with this series back when I was a kid when the game first came out. Now, as I am 30, I just platinumed the first game, doing the No Death, Speed Run, and No Equipment Change achievements all at the same time to get the last three I needed.
That conclusion was amazing. I started the game when I started my first job and it was very stressful but I felt more relieved through this game. Especially with Sora not wanting to start the journey at first. But what you mention about growing up reminded me so much of that moment
The Keyblade Sora uses to unlock Kairis Heart was made from the Seven Princesses Hearts which is why when Sora used it on himself it split into the Princesses Hearts and returned to all of them. It's not a Keyblade of Darkness it's an artificially created Keyblade called "The Keyblade of Heart". Hence the lack of a Keychain and why we never see it again. This is important because we technically have only seen Mickey's Kingdom Key-D that he gets from the other side as the only Keyblade of Darkness. Always going to cry a little whenever people casually gloss over Ansem Reports being the main source of the narrative and storytelling. If you read all the Reports as you get them you learn a lot more about the Keyblade, Heartless, and Ansem. Through most of the game he's actually a good guy. Every report was about his research and how he wants to help his people but then after you meet him you get the rest of the reports that show why he's actually the main bad guy instead. 9:40 In order of appearance: Finding his friends, finding the King, finding Ansem Reports because that's what the King is using to find the Keyblade of Darkness, finding Navi-G Gummis left by the King, and then only at the second visit to Traverse Town do you learn more about Keyholes.
Me when the kingdom is hearts

You lure me in with breakers discussion and then start posting kingdom hearts retrospectives. You are now obligated to go through the entire series.
This game is also very special to me ❤️
