Thanks for the video. Just did this on mine. I only cut off half the spring adjusting ring, just the half that would hit the air box. Set the spring to second up from softest level and set the rebound dial to 3. Only have ridden it a few miles but it's way better than the worn out original shock. Tip for those who may do this.. when shaving down the top eyelet of the shock don't cut it all down the same. The big outer part needs to be cut down to 22 mm.. it's not supposed to touch anything when installed. The small inner sleeve needs to be wider, 25 mm, it's what the bolt/mount tightens on. So don't just grind it all down flat.
great tutorial thanks! no mention of the stroke length. Will the bandit shock result in losing some suspension travel???? Comparing the 2 shocks side by side, it looks like the bandit would have shorter stroke...I'd hate to limit the rear swingarm travel.
hey thank you! yeah I figured that would have helped. the removal is super easy tho. take two plastic side panels. there is one bolt at the top on the right side. and two bolts at the bottom. the whole thing just falls out. really a pretty easy job.
Great video. I've been thinking about doing my 1990 NX. I do wish you would have showed more on how to remove the old shock, and installing the new one into the bike itself.
Get the factory center stand for NX if you can find one. Real stable and nice for maintenance. I have one, it just takes some ground clearance off the bike when installed, but it's real easy to bolt on/off when needed.
P.S. I ride mine all year around, in snow too. I have tried lots and lots of different tyres with the bike and come to conclusion, that this is one great bike to ride with knobbies, when you get right ones. I Use them all year around. I have 7 stars model F-807 , 70/100-19 in front, the stickiest tyre you have ever seen, even sticks to wet rocks and roots like glue. Rear has Rinaldi MX 35, works even in soft mud, bike does not bog. I recomend highly to try these on your NX, they really set the bike free. And they even are dirt cheap tyres..! I have also done 2 easy fixes. Turned the rear brakeshield lever to facing upwards and change the front fender to one mounted high, there are even ready made threads for four 6mm bolts on the bike for installing one. Then the rocks do not hit and mash up the lever and sticks do not get stuck between tyre and fender causing all kinds of nasty surprises.

Taras Alexandrovich Yes sir they do. I ordered a set for my sons 88 NX250. Just remember that all the parts are reproduction and are made of fiberglass. Mine will need some minor work to get them prepared for paint but overall I am satisfied with them.
Hello! owner of an ax-1 in Argentina. My rear shock is broken. I had done a full service last year, but it did not last long. For "rally" type use, it is very quick in rural roads, dry land, not mud. Would the Bandit's rear shock go well?

@@rickc2222 oh man it's been so long ago. I can't remember exactly but it did not feel like there was a significant loss of travel.

Hey there. I want to ask how the bike feels in the trails with the bandit shock. Is it good on gravel roads? Cheers
It felt a lot better in general. I never took it out on trails unfortunately.

Need ABS plastics for mine, where can i buy and ship to Portugal?
oh man, good luck finding ABS plastics for this bike. Or any plastics for that matter.
Try "perfect fairings"
@@tylermegehe awesome site!! Do they ship to the US?

You can try it but I am not positive. You do get a bit more ground clearance with the bandit shock.
Great vid bro
cool dude thanks for the vid!
Where did you get that cargo rack for behind the seat?
It came with the bike when I got it but I am pretty sure it was made by givi.
Taras Alexandrovich gotcha. Been looking around for a while. Looks like I’ll have to make my own too lol.
Does the Bandit shock also fit on the NX650?
I am not sure. NX650 did not actually share much with the NX250.
Taras Alexandrovich привет, интересует или поменялась высота посадки??? Клиренс ???
DNSKY высота посадки не много увеличелась. Точно не помню на сколько но клиренса стало больше.
Taras Alexandrovich спасибо ! Помог ) как раз замену искал
