Just got a sickkkkk polleti jawbreaker! So pumped. Any tips on care requirements? I know prob low light low flow but what about nutrients and stuff? I know most mushrooms like nutrients but I heard these can be tricky ?
I recommend over 30 gallons, with lots of rock with large holes for the midas blenny to live in and hangout in. They can get aggressive with other blennies. Otherwise they are great! Maybe feed twice a day if you are able to. Mine hangs out with our clownfish and only chases the firefish for fun haha
@@daredonkey Thank you for your advice. I have a 75 gallon with quite a bit of live rock. He is the last fish I am going to add. No other blennies. My only worry was that I saw someone on Reef2Reef post about them not getting fed enough or them starving and getting skinny, but then he mentioned internal parasites. He was the only person who said that. It scared me a little bit because I didn't know if I would still be able to get one. Then I thought that there wouldn't really be a way that it would become skinny by feeding them several times a day and it not be internal parasites. He also said that they do not have a swim bladder so they have to work harder to swim, but I have a flame hawkfish and they do not have a swim bladder but no one has really said any thing on there about flame hawks not getting fed enough. I usually feed 2x a day. Sometimes 3. Pellets and Mysis and I may try reef frenzy.
@@austinstebing922 sounds great :) you won't regret getting a midas blenny, they have great character. I believe that they do have swim bladders but choose to chill in a hole or nook in the rock and they come out and swim around for a bit before returning to their "den". Pellets and Mysis should be great, they are omnivores so they may even eat certain type of seaweed. Ours doesn't care for it so she gets her veggies in through pellets. Our Midas is over 3 years old and dear to us. Jealous of your hawkfish:) they are great characters as well. A different blenny might eat hair algae for you, but I wouldn't have a tank without a Midas now that we have kept one. Cheers :) hope all works out wonderfully
How u losing mushrooms? They are unkillable in my tank. Moved them multiple times, emerald crab ate partial of it, accidentally ripped it pulling on it to remove from tight rock crevices, diamond goby keeps distracting it by spitting sand on it and they never give up on life.
