I've been such an introvert for the past few years since my husband's been gone.. hes coming home finally in September and I want to be more adventurous and meet new people. Hes so ready to be home and I'm so ready to finally spend our lives together. Military life can be hard and we've had a lot of rough times. I think that from a very young age we are conditioned not to trust strangers, and always keep our guard up, so people sometimes tend to be a bit rude in order to not appear vulnerable to someone who could be a possible threat.
well I mean I personally would try to decline politely but if some random dudes with cameras and a freakin banner came to my house asking to throw a party i'd be kind of weirded out and think they're messing around. Especially if u got so much stuff going on in your life (work, uni, family) this would be the last thing you would want to happen to you, hence the more "rude" reactions imo.

Next time you do such things simply ask them an apparently harmless question first, like are you spontaneous. Most people would like to think of themselves as spontaneous and answer in affirmative. And once they do that then sneak your actual question in. This would really put them in a spot and make it difficult for them to backtrack from their earlier statement. Cheers!
