I don’t believe there are “missteps” I believe they are building blocks towards seasons 6&7. I love this show, and I will always come back for it
They really need to hit a home run this season. Yes we'll get a season 7 but if the views aren't there Netflix may ax any TDP spinoffs.
honestly i've always preferred s4 and s5 to the first three seasons - the characters are messier, the worldbuilding is more complex, happily ever after isn't that simple. not every fan is going to be here such a heavy deconstruction of something they liked the first time around, but if they want the more archetypal fantasy adventure show, they can just rewatch the first 3 seasons or something else entirely; i prefer the thematic maturity any day
I'm with you on this! I love Arc 1 (S1-S3) of TDP as much as the next guy, but I also favor seeing the show and its characters progress and grow throughout Arc 2 (S4-S7). I'm sure that season 6 will deliver what many have been missing from arc 2 and win over some skeptics when it gets aired on Netflix on July 26. 🙂
