Easy Floyd-style set-up: stick half a clothes pin under the bridge so that is it flat on the body and tighten the springs in the back so that it stays nailed there. Do all your set-up work as if it were a hardtail, including tuning at the end. Loosen the springs until the clothes pin comes free and bring the guitar back in tune with the back springs. Done ;)
That went right over my head mate hahaha I tried to take it all in I just ordered this guitar it's coming tomorrow hopefully its abit like the edge zero on my ibenez RG haha
@@paulyoung4781 hi Paul I’m sure you’ll be fine, I managed to do it by taking the whole bridge out and I’m really not a handy man. Neck on these guitars is gorgeous. Let me know how you get on Rich
Thanks buddy appreciated I get it tomorrow cant wait haha it's like xmas for me again haha, thanks for replying mate I'll let u no how I get on mate thanks I'm looking forward to getting this guitar always had a eye on this guitar for years but never ever got it till now lol
I have been playing guitar on and off for about 28 years, I still take my Floyd Rose guitars professionally set up to start with. I can change strings one at a time, but setting it up is too frustrating for me.
@@thenovicenoisemaker I appreciate you thinking that I can actually play. Just a beginner as well. The inlay pattern is pretty intuitive after a bit. I also own a Strandberg with fanned frets that I acclimated quickly to as well. I built a replica Jem kit. That's my exposure to those inlays. Keep up the good work.
Looks so nice in the UK , I always hear how it always raining but I’m starting to think that y’all say that to keep the rest of us away lol. Hope all is well Rich.
Just ordered mine yesterday it comes tomorrow so hopefully tunning is ok to set up edge zero on my RG is not bad I've never tried this claw tremelo so hopefully stays in tune good
I took mine to pieces, but off and bridge completely out 🙈. Luckily I got it back together and tuning was much better. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the guitar too Paul, lovely neck
Thank you that’s very kind 🙏, It’s not a good beginner guitar, it’s difficult to set up and keep in tune. It’s also a bit tricky knowing which fret you’re on as the tree of life inlays look ‘busy’.
I am a beginner, and it's the best thing what could happen to me. When it is in tune, it stays in tune a half year. But I mod guitars better then I play them. So I swapped the trem out. For the rest, it is perfect. I have big hands, short fingers, 3 of my right hand fingers don;t even move (neck hernia) .. but I can play this neck! Better then all the squiers and Harley Bentons..ua-cam.com/video/CdklpfCnUig/v-deo.htmlsi=Q53vkpE-tQGo4cy5
Oh no Big Rich, I bought a Squire comptempory strat a few months ago, shell pink, I do really like it, I suppose it's like marmite, you like it , or hate them.🎸😎
That open string buzz on the e and b Rich, check the strings are seated in the locking nut properly, failing that, your neck probably needs some relief in it.
@@thenovicenoisemaker Neck relief and stretching strings are the only things that can move on their own without someone actively turning a screw somewhere. If a guitar was ever set-up (and it ought to be out of the box unless it's the cheapest thing ever), neck relief is often the only adjustment needed and always the first thing to check after tuning up.
Just seen this video for the first time. I bought one in 2018, when I was just 9 years of guitar playing, so, I am a kind of novice too.. " your remark " is it for beginners" is interesting, because of this guitar my playing went steps up. I could do things I can't with other guitars. It made me play better, in short. It is still the best playable guitar of all, of everything I played, of build, or rebuilt.. Even the Quantum pickups are better then the Evo's I put in. I was so stupid not even try the quantums, and put the evo's in straight away, sold the quantums, and found uoy the evo's actually didn't sound so well as expected. Yes it is my favorite best playable guitar.. only the trem swap made a big difference..ua-cam.com/video/CdklpfCnUig/v-deo.htmlsi=Q53vkpE-tQGo4cy5
Thanks for the shout-out Rich! :D As someone whose second guitar had a Floyd on it, it was one of the worst mistakes I ever made. Absolutely hated the hassle of having to set it up, retune and how I had to adapt my bends. I wouldn't really rec a double locking guitar to anyone until they're out of their beginner phase at least, I've seen it kill the passion for guitar so many times for new players. What I would ABSOLUTELY say is get this set up and persevere with it. The JEMs are such great guitars and you can always block off the trem if you want to hardtail it. Push some proper gain through it and it will come to life.
Such a dose of positivity.
Aww ☺️ thank you 🙏

Is this the same method Ben Eller described in one of his older videos?
I just grabbed a used JEM Jr. in Shocking pink, I love it. I have 7 Ibanez RGs, and I really like this new one, too!
That pink looks so loud, love it! 7 RG’s = super fan 😀
I have 2 guitars with a floydrose trem, if they new strings, I definitely take it to the music shop, I haven't enough knowledge to do it myself. 🎸
Think I’ll be doing the same Steve, I can see myself getting tangled up on knots otherwise

Tree of life inlay looks like a normal fretboard to me. I didn't really experience an adjustment issue.
That’s good. I’m a beginner so probably why it’s harder for me to

@michaelsmith9544 thanks Michael
At a hunch I would say your pickups are slightley too high, I have the same guitar and found lowering the pickups an inch or so gives a cleaner tone.
Ah cool thank you ☺️

It does look fantastic, Rich.... Should have been pink, though 😂
... I kind of want one too 😬
Pink lol. Honestly it’s far better than I imagined it would be
I got a pink one and love it! It goes great with my 25th Anniversary RG1XXV in flourescent yellow. And they both glow under a black light!
Rich this has to be the best unboxing vid ever great fun cheers my friend 🎸🎸🎸

@@Leo_ofRedKeep it seems to be ok ish. Neck relief has helped and I’ve tightened the bridge screws in the cavity.
Floyd R=set up nightmare, even with the better tricks you can find or use. I know it because I have one. Anyway, nice looking guitar and good video
Thank you Enrique. I’m going to sell this actually, it’s not for me after all 🙈

I miss mine too! Couldn’t get on with the Floyd style system but everything else was great.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
That is a good looking guitar , what’s it worth Rich ?
£429 Ben
That’s a junior guitar Rich ? What’s the modal so I can look it up ?
It’s called Ibanez Jem Junior that’s all or Jem Jr
It’s a junior because it’s a watered down version of Steve Vais £thousands guitar not junior as in small 😊
@@thenovicenoisemaker I gotcha
How do you afford to buy all these guitars or are you given them.
I work hard ☺️
A lot of them get sent back and others are bought and sold too. 👍🏻
If there was ever an unboxing review to put you off a guitar, this is it. Nice one 🤦🏼♂️
Awesome, job done ✔️
Happy new guitar day 👍👍
Thank you Sam 🎉
I wish you look with that one! 😁
Haha thank David think I’ll need it!

Wise words sir! I’ve noticed already I need to be lighter with my bends. Going to take some getting used to but so far o love it
