That Cosmo is not running turbos, it's naturally aspirated (and heavily modified) and I believe some of those RX-7s were running turbos giving them an edge.
You're right. But the RX-7 is a 5-speed and the Cosmo is a 4-speed automatic, and that AT was one of the best ever built to withstand high-end torque. But on the top end the FD will pull out with that extra gear. And a Cosmo's top speed is only 112mph. I love me the 20B-REW 3-rotor trubo. Cosmo was clearly way ahead of its time back in the early 90s. Didn't even know it was the first twin turbo produced car built as well as first with built-in GPS. Freakin beast. That sound on the first run at 2:54 when it hit 4th gear OMG.
This Cosmo looks to have a sequential not an automatic. You seem to be quoting stock stats. The stock top speed was limited was due to Japanese regulations and enforced by electronics(ECU) not the motors actual capability. This is a beautiful build, I wonder how much it weighs. N/A > all haha I would guess that was the driver letting the Fd pass. I wouldn't being going all out in rain like this and it doesn't really look like the driver in the Cosmo was really tracking it that hard.
I'm so proud to actually own one of these badboys mine is only a 13B but it's still awesome. there's another guy in my city with the 20B Type-E model, it's beastly to say the least.
Comments are welcome...I can understand where you're coming from but I think having at least one Eunos Cosmo out there as a dedicated race car is a great idea...It showcases the potential of the EC and its 20B! This EC is really unique and I think it's an awesome racing machine...I hope this unique EC survives forever...It sounds like no other car! Thanks for watching! :D
holy fuking shit that is my dream car srsly i dreme bout that exact car everything the same the sound the couler the only diference is that the wheels are blackish when i get my lisence im buying two of them one for street and one to race like that.....long live the 20b n/a monster and please could some one find more vids. thanks Myles
I have a 1993 rx7 13b.....i want a cosmo like this...but automatic transmission trurning me off sadly... can i easily fit a fd tranny on that ?? how can I do ?????? please ! thanks..... and for slammed this car... i have to buy a TEIN kit ?? thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
to be honest i dont mean to sound like a asshole or sumthing but i waste of a really nice car built for luxury oh well im still jelous and i bet it super fast
surprisingly. the EC is not for sale, or exportable to the U.S... as there were only a small handful made by mazda. believe it or not, the EC was the first car in the world to have a touchscreen nav. system!
I'm a fan of V8s. That said, I've never bemoaned the Wankel Rotary, only its implementation. It never struck me as any good on the street, especially when gas prices began to matter again. An engine as big as a compact's engine, that isn't as powerful as a V8 or even a Turbo-4, but downs gas faster than a V8 running hard, is a problem. But the Wankel is really a near perfect racing engine. But I'm looking at the VROC Engine by Vengeance Power as a possible improvement.
@brapboys503 i would like to see that. I just tuned a TWM unit(not mine) on the new 2012 ford 32-v crate motor (the one on the new mustangs but w/o the supercharger, 10.5:1cr i think) The long block only cost about 8 grand and with the TBI its a beast, dynoed at 545 rwhp. Its hp kept climbing at 8krpm too. TBI is great. So post some SBC pics in between bong hits if u can.
why dump the turbo though? its a heavier chassis, i think they would want to squeeze bigger numbers. No disrespect to a NA 20B still amazing to see and hear
im not saying that I no why but with a NA 20B PP you can gain a shitload of power around the 500hp mark. in the short run the P port is expensive but you don't have to worry about expensive possible turbo failures in the future and it wont erode the apex seals as fast as a bridge ported turbo 20b. plus its sounds so much better N/A that's just my assumption anyway
better power and torque delivery with NA,more revs, enough power for the track, longer lasting, less headaches than with a turbo track setup.that cosmo is making around 450whp from what i remember.
All I can say is that the flybys, are priceless. Just hearing them zoom through the track just gives me the sense of excitement...
That is the toughest sound in the world!!!!
Damn right and it held its ground with that turbo FD too.
No....the PPRE-built 6 rotor PP is THE TOUGHEST sounding in the World 😜✌🏽💯💯💯💯
Sounds even more aggresive than the 787b.. beautiful
20b = best sounding rotary
nah, r26b is where its at
@@pikkyuukyuun4741 isn't that an inline 6 though?
@@antonio36o36 no, not an rb26, the r26b
@@pikkyuukyuun4741 oh I miss read that, mb lol

Here we can't talk about "engine sound" anymore.
Here we talk about "engine symphony"
underrated but beast
Interesting to see it with itb's vs tt
@NONVOGLIONOMI the cosmo looks like lexus some what little but yea anyways thanks for the info bro
Trying to find one of these near Oregon sucks.. I want one so bad...

oh my god!
i would love to have that engine in my mothers opel agila XD
she wouldnt notice how strong that car will be XD
Eargasm
how much hp does this car have?
3:25 that looked like a race yo
Agreed and the Cosmo hung with that FD. But the RX-7 is clearly more powerful on straights. Still the Cosmo is no pushover.

Thanks Germany for Wankels! :D And thanks Mazda for continuing to improve them

This sound makes me remember of 787b Mazda
small engine cause big difference

must have been hard to strip out that beautiful interior.

I just noticed that Eunos Cosmo looks like Skyline GT-R (R32)
I'd love a rotory.
Anyway. I hear rotorys are unreliable. True?

colj001 thanks :) helped a lot.
///MTi glad to help.

is the cosmo like a rx7 but better?
超かつこいい!!! ぃぃ音してますなァ♪
What's the mileage on a 20b PP? And in comparison to another car (piston/rotary) that's just stock?

That sound! Dear god that sound!
it looks a wee bit like an r32 skyline
Anybody got the wheel specs of those ssr spec c ?
god i love japan,
without their cars we would all be lost
xD
No doubt...One of the cleanest racing setups I've ever seen!
Thanks for watching! :D
Wow no turbo.
Rotary's are the best!
Absolute crowd pleaser. I hope one day someone with too much money creates a 4rotor or 6 rotor luxury GT cosmos as a tribute to the original.
The angriest engine of all time...
The sound!!!! The car looks like a cross between an S14 and an old Soarer. Definitely a forgotten model in Mazda's stable.
Rotary banzaii
Not that I know of...You can find more info on this car at est - fukuyama . ftw . jp (remove spaces).

I love how they spelt 'Tuning' wrong on the intake cover xD

thats a little tiny engine for that big engine bay
I know this must be a powerful car but the engine looks really small.
just realized 3:04 looks like your racing next to a Mayan temple
If there is such thing as an engine angel... they will sing like the 20b na...
And an engine bay hygienic enough to perform brain surgery in it
What a sound, nothing sounds as good as a rotary.
I own a rx7fc but this is total car porn.
@Mazda247 thanks for sharing
ohhyeah
im buying a 20b for my bros bday, any reccomendations on what kinda 20b i should get?
my fave mazda car that was not released in the states.
the only car this motor came in was the cosmo like in this vid
really sounded like killer bees when idle
Think I could get a job teaching music in Japan? ;D
Iv always though it was more similar to an s13 silvia in the looks section
Thats how cars should sound.
Not that deep bragger sound
Lol ya in kind of does. Except better, and louder.
The MX5 shouldve come with a 20B PP they'd be some of the best production cars on the road
Awesome car. Awful battery placement. Roll your car good enough and that thing will become a wrecking ball.
Agreed and what the hell was with the single exhaust?
who needs a big v8 with a big lumpy cam when you got one of these!!!
Ooooo!!! is see Fujita Engineerings FD at 3:27 - 3:26
nice racing set up , and he race with a/c on too
Sound like a tuned Wartburg from east germany..:-)))
3 rotors Sound ! Very good!
Too bad he got rid of the sick quad exhaust.
Thanks man...Glad you enjoyed the vid! :D
R magic demo car @ 2:56 its for sale right now too :)
Wtf? I see giza pyramid???? 2:37
Exactly!
