Thanks MM for the video! ❤ Anyone who is interested, let me quickly highlight how this synth is unique or interesting IMO: - the LFOs, apart from the usual shapes, come with complex custom shapes (the "+" symbol above the waveform button) - in the dual VCOs there is a wavemix feature where you can set the balance of levels between pulse and triangle / saw (/which you can also mix freely!) - you can program a lot of generative behavior into the sequencer with gate, velocity and note chance / probability for more unpredictability - there's dual timbre addressing in the sequencer so it can play both timbres at once or only chosen notes for timbre A and B (which makes it more fun!) - in the mod matrix you can use functions to change the well-known shapes of sine, square LFOs into uniquely new ones, or create custom curves for envelopes / aftertouch response, etc. - the mixer allows for a clean mix of all analog sources but you can also use the overload slider to overdrive the signal like the classic Moog CP-3 mixer does - the delay works like vintage digital rack units in that it's highly configurable and can provide stereo delays with ping pong behavior, filtered multi-tap tape echo-style delays, or reverb + dreamy chorused-diffusion trails. Generally it's a sonic playground for time-based effects. Thank you Moog!!!

Great great demo, thank you! People have been saying: same old same old, and that any Hydrasynth can do the same and more. Well, let's leave aside the hearing capacities of these people, but if you think about it, Moog have done an ingenious job of bringing their heritage to 2024. They have built on the glory of what we love in a Moog, the sound foundation, you might say, and then they have vastly broadened the spectrum by the modulation and those hyper-modern capabilities of Arp and Seq. As a long-time fan of classic synthesizers, I've been keeping up with all the new releases over the past two decades. After spending hours watching demonstrations of the Moog Muse, I have to say they've really hit the mark! It's incredibly versatile, with sounds reminiscent of the 70s, the ability to emulate a CS-80, and metallic tones similar to a DX. I have the Polybrute, but this is still tempting. 😂 I think the basic sound of the moog is better, or I just like it more. Pushed the button yesterday and will get mine hopefully next week.
Thanks for sharing this excellent video, where you let the Muse SING indeed! ;) Our wild guess: It definitely gives off a lot of Prophet-6 vibes in terms of usability. Like the Prophet-6, which was designed to be a successor to the P5, this instrument seems to aim for the same goal, but perhaps even better or in a unique way. While the Moog One is a sound designer's dream, it can be a bit more complicated and overwhelming and where the Matriarch sounds incredible too, it doesn't save patches. This synth seems to have solved these problems. After working with it for a month, you'll likely feel right at home, like it fits as comfortably as your favorite jacket. We could be utterly wrong ofcourse... Would you agree?
Seems incredible but also less versatile range of sound than I would expect given the features, I suppose it truly has the moog character encrusted through it which is what people want from a moog I would assume.. Maybe the ultimate synth for funk.
lol I was just watching his video before this thinking that as well, he’s such a legendary player. Nice to hear things from a more sound design perspective
Dammit, Alex. All the other encyclopedic reviews left me feeling MEH. Your ever-contagious enthusiasm and approach to start simple and end sick...damn. DAMN. Fantastic overview, sounds great, and good job, mate!
I wish the Muse was a 16 voice for that price but for the ever good Moog ladder filters and also main highlight for me, the variable LFO they have added in(although i do have Moog Model 10, i like to get a key playing oriented synth in Moog too) cause I'm mostly into jazz improv, i enjoy both my Rev 2 and new Ub-Xa for that for adding embellishments to my tracks along with my recorded piano melodies and percussion loops. But still i want to get this for posterity sakes cause why tf not?!
Oh wow, MOOG invented the Novation Summit ;) more sauce & some new interesting knob / function options, definitely interesting synth! Solid demo, thank you!
Big fan of the Summit but this solves a few of the flaws - adjustable envelope curves (the Summit's envelopes are too linear and kind of suck), pitch offset and random generators for "vintage knob" behavior (the slow LFO drift and diverge on the Summit are pretty meh), the way you access modulation and true dual filters instead of splitting and trying to dial in the gap between them. I'm still holding out hope that a 3.0 Summit firmware comes along and emulates the vintage knob behavior (since they own Sequential) and adjustable envelope curves, that would put it in GOAT territory.
@@mvsr990 totally agree, I own the summit and while it's a great tool and my daily driver I would classify it more as a very versatile tool, and the MOOG come across like a well thought out instrument. Not sure if that makes sense, but this new MOOG def has my attention :)
actually on some other videos, from some angles, I was confused seeing the Summit there instead of the Moog. I guess it's the styling and layout of the knobs.
@@sub-jec-tivnot regular digital oscillators, based on FPGAs. Regular digital oscillators might go up to 96kHz or so (well above audible, but allows them to alias less under FM). Summit is 24MHz, so about 200x higher. IIRC Intellijel Shapeshifter is over 90MHz.
@BullyMaguire4ever synths benefit from effects. Having 1 digital effect is not enough. Even worse I tried the muse in a store with headphones. That 1 digital effect is not very good and is actually very noisy.

Thanks MM for the video! ❤ Anyone who is interested, let me quickly highlight how this synth is unique or interesting IMO:
- the LFOs, apart from the usual shapes, come with complex custom shapes (the "+" symbol above the waveform button)
- in the dual VCOs there is a wavemix feature where you can set the balance of levels between pulse and triangle / saw (/which you can also mix freely!)
- you can program a lot of generative behavior into the sequencer with gate, velocity and note chance / probability for more unpredictability
- there's dual timbre addressing in the sequencer so it can play both timbres at once or only chosen notes for timbre A and B (which makes it more fun!)
- in the mod matrix you can use functions to change the well-known shapes of sine, square LFOs into uniquely new ones, or create custom curves for envelopes / aftertouch response, etc.
- the mixer allows for a clean mix of all analog sources but you can also use the overload slider to overdrive the signal like the classic Moog CP-3 mixer does
- the delay works like vintage digital rack units in that it's highly configurable and can provide stereo delays with ping pong behavior, filtered multi-tap tape echo-style delays, or reverb + dreamy chorused-diffusion trails. Generally it's a sonic playground for time-based effects.

You hit it out of the park, thank you so much.
This sounds amazing. If I didn’t have a Polybrute, this would be ultra tempting.
If you can get the muse instead
I have the Polybrute, but this is still tempting. 😂 I think the basic sound of the moog is better, or I just like it more. Pushed the button yesterday and will get mine hopefully next week.
@@fjfrancois I mean, I’m more than happy with the Polybrute. It is kind of like saying I have a Lamborghini but would also like a Ferrari.
First impression is giving me Jupiter vibes, but like a fatter fuller Jupiter. Pretty cool
Each time I watch a demo of yours, I end up spending $. I need to go offline :p
It's a new...Moopiter 8!
It’s so Moopiter!!
Sounds different, jp8 more clear and nicer tone
I was waiting for a friend to show this new beauty, and you're perfect for that matter. Even "FM" sounds like "MF" when it's you!
Mezzoforte, Muzzafokka!
Thanks for sharing this excellent video, where you let the Muse SING indeed! ;)
Our wild guess:
It definitely gives off a lot of Prophet-6 vibes in terms of usability.
Would you agree?
omg why does it sound so good!!!! G A S. . .
Yes
OH-HELL-YEAH! Mylar Muses nicely.
Very impressive! I thought I was done with hardware synths, but this might make me reconsider.
Oh my god!!! a vision in my dream has entered reality!!! If only I was not poor, damn it
Deepimind did baking chords into keys quite a few years ago 😉
Seems incredible but also less versatile range of sound than I would expect given the features, I suppose it truly has the moog character encrusted through it which is what people want from a moog I would assume.. Maybe the ultimate synth for funk.
This is my favorite review. I just wanted to know how good it sounds when you don't play like Matt.
LOL…Matt reviewing things skews the results upwards on every synth.
@@entropybentwhistle exactly everything he plays sounds amazing I need to know if single notes sustained, bleeps and boops sound good on it also.
lol I was just watching his video before this thinking that as well, he’s such a legendary player. Nice to hear things from a more sound design perspective
Interesting what black keys on the keyboard do ?
Never!! Except when used exclusively
Dammit, Alex. All the other encyclopedic reviews left me feeling MEH. Your ever-contagious enthusiasm and approach to start simple and end sick...damn. DAMN. Fantastic overview, sounds great, and good job, mate!
Thanks m8, glad this approach hit the mark!!
Holy desert synth!! Damn!
Also this one is analog VCOs not digital osc. 🤷♂️
Wow I didn't know Russel Brand was so good at synths!
sounds great in this vid; in other vids it sounded sterile
Exactly my thoughts.
I am gonna buy the Dreadbox Murmux ❤
Tried that the other weekend and it sounds amazing
If you’re just thinking about it now, there’s none left.
15:29 “That’s just triangles FMing each other” 😂😮😂 quote of the video I think🤔
What is the overall sentiment of this board vs the Moog One?
It sounds like a Moog 👌
Sounds great and is a ton easier to use than the MOOG One imo. This is a good thing, and it's so much cheaper too.
@@DankePlace yeah dude, this one has that 1980’s feeling 👍🏻
They need to finish the effects section
What do you mean?
@BullyMaguire4ever synths benefit from effects. Having 1 digital effect is not enough. Even worse I tried the muse in a store with headphones. That 1 digital effect is not very good and is actually very noisy.
what a BEAST
what the holy mother of...already counting the days. xD
I wants it!
cool story bro. Back to GS and start posting abt John where no one cares.
@@DankePlace John is a good ole’ boy, highly opinionated but a good man.
@@silvermyth2119 sure he is, he is the biggest troll on yt is what he is.
@@silvermyth2119 why don't you tell everyone how you support John when he made a video that Matia (Inhalt) faked his video regarding the PPG vs 3rd Wave?
I mean he tried to bury Groove Synthesis all because Laserbrains had an issue with his 3rd Wave?
You being a mod and doing nothing about it, I mean SynthGuru, really?
Thank you for showing me this thing has teeth!
Wooww Moog made Behringer Deepmind ))))
